  1. Almora probably will continue to hit a lot of infield singles. His IFH% this year is 9.5%. It's 9.4% for his career. The main reason he gets a bunch is because he hits a lot of grounders and he's right-handed. He pulls a lot of grounders but not enough that teams will shift on him. Right-handed hitters always hit more infield singles because it's a longer throw over from the left side of the field. And, though he's slow, he's not like Albert Pujols-slow. So he should be able to continue hitting a lot of infield singles. Stephen Piscotty gets a lot and he's not exactly a burner, but he hits a lot of ground balls to the left side.
  2. Has Chatwood considered standing back further from the plate?
  3. [tweet] [/tweet] What a careless mistake by Jesse. He's a seal, not an otter.
  4. Somehow we'll be in first place for more than one day.
  5. He's going to die. He already gets gassed in the second inning of his appearances. You could tell he was just done last night. 7th inning fastball velocity was 94.6 mph. 8th inning was 93.3 mph. It's like that every time he pitches, too. He's already started regressing lately, too. He isn't as good as he was early in the year. He's still very good and probably the best in the business, But he still has control issues. Through May 19, he had a 2.30 BB/9 and 18.44 K/9. He has a 7.45 BB/9 and 14.90 K/9 in 9.2 IP since then. He's not quite the same weapon when he has to throw a lot of pitches and can only give you 1.1 or 1.2 IP instead of the 2.1 and 2.2 he was giving in less than 40 pitches in April. The other thing that was due to happen is the Brewers finally wasting his appearances. Basically two months straight would go: Hader pitches 2.2 innings in a 1-run game, Brewers have three blowouts while he rests, Hader pitches 2.1 innings in a 1-run game, rinse and repeat. In June, he's pitched in a 5-run win, a 9-run win and a 5-run loss.
  6. It’s a wonder they haven’t went all r_mack over there after being thoroughly embarrassed so often by a team with so many dubious-looking contracts.
  7. The hit off Hader was on the inside. He's slugging .533 with an 88.1 mph exit velocity on pitches on the inner third since I posted in here about him moving up closer to the plate and he somehow decided to move back off of it.
  8. We're going to win 105 games and finish 20 games ahead of the Brewers.
  9. Looks like I’m going to have to stay in the mountains forever. I’ll mail someone my Cubs thoughts in my Unaduker Manifesto.
  10. Yeah, his xStats at Baseball Savant are excellent. He has one of the largest discrepancies between his expected BA and actual BA in the league. Most of the guys with larger discrepancies than him are hitting like .170 or some impossibly low number. If anything he’s doing a better job than ever at avoiding weak contact.
  11. I’m on vacation. In a cabin up in a mountain. Spotty phone service. I was driving up the mountain during the game. Lost all internet access when Heyward came up to bat. Randomly got an mlb app notification an hour later that he hit a walk-off grand slam.
  12. Perfect time for a Westworld theme.
