  1. We're back! For the second time this weekend!
  2. Way to teach Javy to hit a baseball like that, Mallee!
  3. It took Albert longer to get to first than it did for them to review that.
  4. I, too, hate the only Cubs players to win a World Series in any of our lifetimes.
  5. I think it's probably going to come down to the Cubs and Cards. Those head-to-head games are going to be huge. I've been saying they all suck, but I think the Cards are clearly better than the other two. The Pirates' offense is secretly horrible and their pitching isn't anything to write home about. And the Brewers might be even worse. Not that there's a huge difference, since there's only, what, 6 weeks left? They'll all probably hang around within 5 of the lead for most of the rest of the season. But I think the Pirates and Brewers probably both finish under .500. And one of the Cubs or Cards will win over 85 and be the tallest midget.
  6. Probably. But I don't think I'm delusional about them or anything. I know they're not that good and that they could easily lose the division. I've come to terms with that already. But I'm not ready to throw in the towel on these losers yet, so it definitely will sting if it happens.
  7. Yeah, being in a race with the Cards is way more frustrating than being in one with the Brewers. It definitely feels a lot more significant now.
  8. I don't know. You're really freaking out. Despite the Cubs making everyone miserable, the Cardinals have been no better -- even after winning 35 games in a row. They aren't a team to quake in your boots over. It's going to be a close race. But I don't know why you are freaking out now. Not freaking out. just frustrated at watching this team which makes me say things. So annoyed that they've followed up their only really great stretch of the year with another really poor one. Sorry. I've just seen you posting a lot about our lead and how the Cardinals are doing and you weren't going all Bryant's Disco Ball about the Brewers. Which... there is more reason to do that now, since it's mid-August. It's definitely scoreboard watching time. And that's why the whole freak out about the vaunted Brewers in June was silly -- because it was June. So there is more urgency now. And the Cards are a serious threat. Still, our fortunes haven't change much. We've been somewhere between probably 75-90% likely to make the playoffs pretty much all year. We still are. The minor fluctuations here and there probably seem more dramatic than they really are. Sure, it's not a good thing to drop a couple games and go from 90% to 75%, but, it's not exactly dire. They are frustrating, though. That's for sure.

  10. If Willson were alive, he'd have went out to the mound to calm him down. Willson Contreras has never calmed a damn thing down in his entire life. That runs completely contrary to the very essence of Willson Contreras. OK, well, maybe he would have went out and got Jon pumped up and ready to get some guys out.
  11. If Willson were alive, he'd have went out to the mound to calm him down.
  12. If Lester isn't his usual stellar self, it's all because Willson isn't catching him.
  13. .258/.338/.561 since being called back up. .286/.412/.786 since this post. FlyTheW is the anti-Duke. Looks like we'll have to recruit someone else for the club, Sofa.
  14. No big deal. Just scoring from first on a single, despite nearly coming to a full stop halfway to home. [tweet] [/tweet]
  15. Just horsefeathering go Javy Superstar on the rest of the league for three months, please.
