  1. Agreed. There are specific things about the Broken Cubs that I'm not seeing. Specifically, the starting pitching. That was the biggest problem with the Broken Cubs. Also, the offense was largely shitty, too. But, there were specific things there, too, like making a bunch of soft, shitty contact. They've hit the piss out of the ball in the second-half. The offense simply hasn't been a problem since the break. You'll have some nights where that's not the case, like tonight. If you want to harp on RISP, fine. But they got guys on base and gave themselves chances. This was a case of them just losing a game in which they saw the only good pitchers that some shitty team has to offer. They'll be back to donging the hell out of these crappy teams starting tomorrow.
  2. I don't think they were the Bad Cubs tonight. They had a lot working against them: Castillo and the back of Reds' pen being good, Justin Wilson being a bad pitcher, baseball being an incredibly stupid sport, their own manager. They had chances and fought those last two innings. They might be chocking dogs. But I don't think they were the Broken Cubs. They scored 1 run against the Reds. Castillo was good but the Cubs should be a good enough offense to put up more than 1 run against the Reds. But they're not a good offense this season. Way more bad games than good. Good call. I'll talk to you again after the next loss, whenever that will be.
  3. The Cubs are average team, barely good enough to win the terrible NL Central. They're nothing more than that and a quick 3 or 4 game out in the NLDS. Hopefully they're ready to be good again next year. Interesting that you didn't have anything to say when they were winning by 10 last night.

  5. horsefeathering [expletive] loss. horsefeathers.
  6. Same, I think some (maybe even most) of it is warranted Also probably boiling over from the bad year. Hard to get too upset when you are winning 100 games each year after sucking for so long. More attuned to it now. But, I haven't been pissed at him much at all this year, even when we were really struggling. So I definitely think he's been horsefeathering up more often the last couple weeks.
  7. I've been getting pissed at Joe more than usual lately. He either needs to stop drinking so much wine or start drinking more of it.
  8. Avila has to take that AB. I mean, horsefeathers, it's a 1-run game with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the 8th against a nasty closer. You have a proven big league hitter on the bench that happens to play the same position as the shitty AAAA player coming up to hit. What the hell? You even have another horsefeathering catcher in Schwarber on the bench, if you are worried about using your backup catcher.
  9. Damn, that was huge. And Castillo is out of the game.
  10. No one I fear more in this situation than shitty ass Billy Hamilton.
  11. STOP PRESSING YOUR LUCK!!! I've been trying to kill him for well over a year now. I thought it worked in June. But there is nothing that can contain this man and his 85 mph fastball.
  12. Kyle looks good. He's the one guy I can't kill. And he's my favorite Cub.
  13. I am not able to watch WGN games, so when I started reading the game thread, I had assumed Quintana gave up 7 runs. Anytime you read a game thread, take what you assume the score is and deduct 5 from the opponents.
  14. Relief pitchers' WAR also incorporates leverage. I'm not sure if they use WPA or what, or how much effect it has. But, it's basically saying Duensing has been our most valuable reliever, despite being used mostly early and in blowouts and losses all the way into June.
