  1. Fun day! Man, what the hell happened to Clifton?
  2. I haven't been over to MR lately, do they still think the whole rotation is coming back completely healthy next year and Cespedes will be peak Bonds? I think some still believe this, while others have come to terms with being doomed. But, I think most still believe they are just unlucky that it happened in the first place.
  3. Uh oh. [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. Someone's MAD online. [tweet] [/tweet]
  5. Yeesh. Not a good month for the vaunted Duke Silver.
  6. His body control is so ridiculous. He's going like 80 mph while sliding and he's still able to lift his arm and move his body away from the tag while swiping the plate with his extended foot. I'd like to see a Statcast breakdown on this, too. And I'd also like to see a view isolated on Javy. How did he even score on that? I hand-timed it at 6.5 seconds from the ball hitting the bat to him touching the plate. And there was only 1 out, so it's not like he was running with the pitch and well on his way to third already. All that and the effortless pop-up. I definitely scared the neighbors on that play, you couldn't see him until the last second but I knew he was going to be safe. Javy being Javy \:D/ =D> =D> Yeah, when the camera pans to the plate and you can't even see him, I'm like "Where the horsefeathers is Javy!?"
  7. I can't stop watching this slide. It's hypnotic. An underrated part is when he turns to the ump and says something -- I believe, "Safe!" -- to him while still sliding. You can see it pretty well in the gif Tim posted.
  8. It's on the MLB videos page for the game on MLB.com. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/blue-jays-vs-cubs/2017/08/20/491956#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=videos,game=491956 I personally think even if the catcher had been playing it correctly, it would have been a fairly close play at first after he had to look down at third first. But when he froze, there was no chance to get Baez. I saw Joe mention it after the game, but Javy busted his ass out of the box. Javy earned that, even if the catcher did screw up.
  9. Someone needs to splice the video of Vince McMahon getting more and more excited with Kyle's changeup pitch values since returning from the DL, because that's my exact reaction to it: http://www.fangraphs.com/statsd.aspx?playerid=12049&position=P&type=7&gds=&gde=&season=2017 Hitters were 0-14 with 4 K's and 2 GIDP's against his changeup yesterday. 9 whiffs on 21 swings.

  11. Weird haven't seen him post much hope everything's ok Didn't he get banned this time? Too busy flying the W.
  12. I only caught bits and pieces of the game. And I completely missed the bottom of the 10th. Can someone explain what happened on the Javy AB? Or is there video anywhere? From what I heard on the radio, Lopez was paying attention to the base runner on third and just forgot to throw over to first?
  13. That slide is the greatest thing ever. Shame on any of you who ever wanted to trade Javy. Line up in here for a tongue-lashing.
  14. I decided to take a look at Mets Refugees to see how things are going and... lol http://www.metsrefugees.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125583
  15. Yeah, it was posted in the "Baez impresses Baez" thread. Consensus seems to be that he is both racist and salty.
  16. And he's gotten BABIP'd to death. He's Lester 2.0 I dunno the walks and homers have given him a 4.39 FIP and a 3.86 xFIP. He's a really good pitcher and has been pretty darn good but the homers have been a bit of an issue. Edit: His BABIP was .256 going into today since the trade. 3.73 xFIP and 3.97 FIP after today. Homers have been a bit of a problem, but 3 came in one game when he clearly wasn't quite right. Plus the small sample size hasn't given him enough time to off-set that. He's always done a good job of limiting homers, too. I'm not worried about it too much.
  17. This thread deserves an honorary title for Joe West, like we gave to the Game Thread forum for Fred.
  18. This will be banned in the new CBA to speed up pace of play.
