Well, one argument I've seen for starting Floyd from the so-called CBS "experts" is that Asomugha may be preoccupied with Gates. I'm not too sure about that though.

Start 3 WR's. Starting Boldin, D. Jackson and trying decide between M. Floyd and E. Royal (Welker on bye). I keep going back and forth. I'd say Floyd normally, but I'm guessing they'll run a billion times against OAK and he won't see many targets (like last week). Royal has a tough matchup against BAL and it's hard to say who Orton will go to between him, Gafney, Lloyd and Thomas. Thoughts?

For whatever reason, it seems (in Crean's mind anyway) that Jones has been more effective as a PG, while Hulls has actually probably been better off the ball. I think that's how they'll try to run out there (whenever they are on the court together). Sounds like they are set on playing Jones at PG often. The turnovers obviously become a big concern there. I do think (hope) we won't see much of Rivers on the floor this year. I think between Hulls/Jones/Creek they can have a PG on the floor at all times without relying on Rivers. They have talked quite a bit from what I've seen about Watson playing the 3. Not exactly sure how that's going to work out though, basically because of the current front-court (as you said). They definitely like him more in that role and he played well there late last season. I imagine they think they can run Elston out there at PF with Michel at C, but I find that to be pretty suspect. And agreed with the notion that Crean has a pretty long leash. He's starting to get some top in-state talent (down the road, at least) which buys him tons of leeway with people here. If he gets Zeller (unlikely), people here are going to flip.

It's becasue the GM is delusional. Cohesion is worthless without talent. You aren't going to get a line playing well just through coaching and playing together every week. It's that myth that has kept Olin Kreutz the most important part of this line despite playing the least important position on the line. You can probably make an average line pretty darn good under the right circumstances, but you aren't going to make a crappy line great just by hiring a new coach. And in the age of free agency and salary caps you can't just rely on cohesion to make you good. Guys are going to leave and fresh bodies have to be resupplied constantly. The goal should not be to have the same starting 5 week after week, the goal should be to have the best 5 lineman you can find. That whole thing is agonizing but the bolded is particularly nauseating. -
This. Also, any horrific injuries that have a negative impact on next season (or beyond) would be greatly appreciated.

I think Minnesota is still clearly superior to IU. Iowa and PSU are horrible, but it's hard for me to take Wisconsin lightly based on their recent history. I admit I don't really know anything about what they have coming in. I don't see IU finishing above 7th, even with vast improvement.

O_O, that is some depressing stuff. I'm not ready to accept that yet, even if it's realistic. I think they add Dunn, and (unfortunately) trade Fukudome. I also think (hope?) they'll move Silva. C Soto 1B Dunn 2B Dewitt 3B Ramirez SS Castro LF Soriano CF Byrd RF Colvin/Nady SP Zambrano SP Dempster SP Wells SP Gorz SP Samardzija, J. Jackson, Cashner? (doubtful) BP gets filled in with the guys that are basically there this year (plus a hopefully more effective Grabow and Guzman at some point), with Hendry maybe adding one set-up man depending on how much money he has after signing Dunn and trading Fukudome/Silva. Bench includes Barney, Baker and Castillo (in place of K. Hill). -

It was really amazing that Martz and co. just couldn't find a way to slow down the Giants front. It certainly did look like Cutler started holding the ball far too long on a few plays that seemed designed for quick hits in the second quarter. I'd say that as much as anything may indicate the hit that caused the concusion may have happened earlier in the game. Cutler didn't look like himself at all. In any case, hopefully he's back next week. I certainly don't think Todd Collins can beat anyone, even Carolina.

I'm always amazed when I see stories about coaches and players not talking to eachother, like Harris and Aromashodu in this case claiming they have no idea why they aren't active. How hard is it to go into a coaches office and ask what you can do to get back on the field? What can I do to improve? etc. Maybe they try and the coaches blow them off. I don't know. Seems like this happens pretty frequently though (not just in football).

It's the theory that just about everybody has gone with. He was great, but didn't get the recognition, so he wanted to get greater. Yeah, that story has been reported many times. He was upset that Sosa/McGwire were getting all the attention while he was being ignored (relatively speaking) even though he was the superior player. He wasn't going to have the kind of legacy those guys would have unless he started hitting 60+ HRs a season.

You're right, of course. It's overreacting to say one way or the other. I'm just really encouraged by what I've seen so far...some uncharacteristic Bears things like "name" players getting sat, or adjustments being made, and I get excited. While I definitely don't think the Bears coaching staff has earned anything yet, I have been encouraged by in-game adjustments in the first three games, both offensively and defensively.

Most of what I've heard on the radio or read in various publications is people saying the Bears are lucky and Cutler should have had five picks Monday. I haven't heard or read a single person (local or national) claim the bears are anywhere close to the top team in the NFC. Certainly there are people saying they have been better than expected, but nobody is ga-ga here (well, except Packers fans about their second place team). ETA: Hell, look at this week's game thread. Half the posters expect the Bears to lose to the Giants.

I thought it was entertaining enough. Like some others mentioned, it was cool seeing stuff I actually remembered, unlike most of the original series. I thought the '98 homerun chase portion was well done. I also liked the perspective they used with guys coming from hispanic nations and giving you the angle of: of course these guys are going to do whatever it takes to get to/stay in the majors. What else is there?

I don't think it'll be tough at all. I mean how many fans are clamoring for Quade to get the job? What's the point of Ryno being a heir apparent bench coach? Just cut to the chase and hire him if you wanna hire him. Because he has no experience at all coaching at the major league level. It would be perfectly reasonable to make him a bench coach with an unofficial understanding that he's likely next in line as manager. I will say, I don't really invision much difference between how Quade has managed and how I imagine Sandberg would probably manage. If the choice comes down to those two, I don't think it really matters.

Well yeah...I'll agree with that. I still prefer a noon game though. Sunday night might be worse if only because I'll inevitably be drunk by the time kickoff comes around and ready for bed. At least MNF keeps me sober in the office all day. I'm really pissed this is a night game and especially pissed that it's this specific weekend, which is the only one I couldn't attend when the schedule came out. See I like Sunday night specifically because I am a little liqoured up when the game starts. Of course (as you mentioned) that can sometimes lead to a little head-nodding in the second half of a not-so-thrilling game.

Who's better than the Bears in the NFC right now? New Orleans, maybe Atlanta, maybe Philly, and maybe Green Bay (despite last night)? I was just thinking that and I couldn't really come up with anyone else, despite this team still having some glaring weaknesses.

I actually really like Sunday night games much more than Monday night. Anyway, this games look like a game the Bears should win at this point. I hope they don't let up after two big wins.

Holy God, reading this thread this morning is freaking gold. I love me some bitter Packer fan face. The Bears aren't world beaters and I hope they don't break their arms trying to pat themselves on the back, but I'm definitely pleased with the way they've played considering their talent level. Coming out of Dallas with a win and then beating GB goes a very long way in helping them get into the playoffs. As has been pointed out, the second half of the schedule is pretty brutal. I said I'd let myself get excited for this season if they won last night. Well, here we are.

Sorry that I fail to see much hope for rehabilitation for someone who thought they were setting off a bomb in Chicago. So you believe in capital punishment. That's the point. edit: I guess he technically said "not a fan" not that he didn't believe in it.
