  1. Correct. I just think the Tigers first, and then the Red Sox, are going to be too much. I hope I'm wrong, would love to take the chance on him.
  2. I'd be really surprised if we got him with those other teams in the mix. I've pretty much written this one off.
  3. Well, since you put it nicely. Yes, yes good way to end the trip.
  4. And at a middle infield position with 6 years of team control, that is an EXTREMELY valuable asset. Soriano at Baez's age was also playing second base. But to be fair, he said he envisioned a career like Soriano's Cubs one, not Yanks.
  5. I think with a lot more value though, because I think he's going to hit more home runs while also being a second baseman.
  6. It would be really cool to see Baez walk or get a hit in the ninth, not because it would mean anything, but would be a great way to end the trip.
  7. Yeah, I thought for sure he would beat that one out. God help us if it was Castro that didn't go full-speed. Just trying to get this stuff straight for the future. So Chicago media are racist toward Dominican players but do like ones from Puerto Rico?
  8. Javy walks are great, but I was actually sort of disappointed in the plate appearance. He worked it to 2-0 and earned some good strikes to swing at, and instead of hitting them hard he swung and missed both times. However, I know how stupid I sound.
  9. IT'S BEEN LIKE 10 GAMES. In which he tied the Cubs' record for mots HRs in the first 10 games of a career. Exactly. It's not like it's all been terrible. I mean, I think we all knew he'd look bad at times, but he's also looked exactly like a future star at times too.
  10. Yeah, and I think I remember people being worried that we wouldn't be able to replace Rothschild when he left. But we did.
  11. So now they're all racists *and* reverse racists. That's even worse. I actually don't think many of them are racists and get more annoyed by everybody claiming they are racist. It's gotten blown out of proportion, just like the criticisms against Castro. This is all because of the ESPN thing a few years ago, when admittedly Castro looked really bad. That has become a narrative now and every time he does something, it gets pointed out because of the "reputation" that he got based on that night. I think it's more that than a bunch of writers hating Castro because he isn't white. Just my opinion.
  12. Chicago baseball writers are super-racist and they tell fans what to think. So JD is now racist just like Brenly was?
  13. I saw people disagreeing with you about this on bleachernation yesterday. It's funny that people pretend there's not a double standard. I pick that fight a lot because it irks me so much. I didn't even break out the nuclear "Ron Santo was a bigger [expletive] than Carlos Zambrano" card. And you guys are saying it is because everybody is racist or just don't like Castro?
  14. He's a terrible outfielder, he'll end up at 1b. I'm just ahead of the curve. I assume this is a joke? Springer is good on defense. UZR/150 has him 21st out of 24 RFers, min. 500 innings. Maybe UZR is just being weird. I'll admit I don't know much about UZR and it's accuracy, but Springer is for sure not a defensive liability.
  15. He's a terrible outfielder, he'll end up at 1b. I'm just ahead of the curve. I assume this is a joke? Springer is good on defense.
  16. Is Javier Baez sort of like George Springer?
  17. They haven't said this, but I'm pretty confident it's to bring one guy up every month.
  18. I believe Hamels could still block it. I'm pretty sure we discussed this regarding Soriano in years past This is correct. Hamels can for sure block it.
  19. Fair point, but I'd say that'd be one hell of a coincidence. The only thing is why would they take him out? Just let him finish the game and then promote him.
  20. To be fair, the other side of that game is Anthony Rizzo and Starlin Castro.
  21. I'd rather use the Stanton money to buy out the arb years of Bryant, Baez and Russell along with their first few years of free agency. Then I would hope two of the three reach their potential.
  22. He might be worth $5 million per on a three-year contract.
  23. Did any non-hack see this from Arrieta? "Plus, I still think Arrieta is going to prove to be a really solid pitcher who can have some success in the National League." Me in April in a game thread. And even that was wrong because he's been way better than really solid.
  24. Pretty sure Felix for Craig was only in the minds of GRB Yeah, I was just taking a shot at the Cards fans who thought that based on a thread from like a week ago.
