  1. Right but I didn't know if they'd want to invest another 16 on top of the 9 they are already out. Why would they view it like that? They also probably don't want to just pay him that money and lose him. It absolutely doesn't matter. That money is basically just money that is deferred from this year. They have to pay it either way. It won't factor into their thinking at all. But I figure it goes into their 2017 roster budget and so it has to be part of the money we can spend next year. Or no?
  2. Right but I didn't know if they'd want to invest another 16 on top of the 9 they are already out. Sunk cost, but doubt someone in at that point of their career coming off a career year signs a one year deal. Agreed. I don't think he'd accept but will Cubs be willing to offer on the chance he does?
  3. Ownership and management must be thrilled by this reception.
  4. I don't think so. I think it's like a $9 million buyout or something to the point where it would be tough for the Cubs to extend the QO without giving him a one year, 25 million dollar type deal. The buyout is happening either way, though. It doesn't make a qualifying offer any more difficult. Right but I didn't know if they'd want to invest another 16 on top of the 9 they are already out.
  5. doesn't he have an option for next season? Mutual option for $9M with a $5M buyout. For some reason I thought it was 9 mil buyout.

  7. Random question: If Dex finishes the season strong would the Cubs offer him the QO? It would essentially end up costing $25 millionish but only $16 million of new money. I know it's random. Was just thinking about it right now.
  8. They should stick with Rondon to get him used to throwing two innings.
  9. It would be funny if Rondon got a save after the team fucks the closer.
  10. Let's get a lead and activate our version of the 2015 Royals bullpen.
  11. That makes me sad. That's like his first blown save in something like 55 chances. They also came back against Jansen recently.
  12. Wow. I don't think I realized this is Len's 12th season already. Well, I know I didn't realize.
  13. Let's make this the inning that everything turns around. Dex and two MVP candidates. Get this horsefeathers done.
  14. Somebody reported that a while ago and you know what? It did make me feel better. I hope they finish it off.
  15. plus, ya know, having a 6.5 game lead on the division This is not the same Cubs team as they were in April and May. Why is April/May what the Cubs are and June/July is considered a fluke? To be accurate he didn't say anything about that. He simply said they have a 6.5 lead which is a fact for now.
  16. Wait. I don't think so, right? Our offense just started to come around this time last year. One year ago yesterday was the Bryant HR game against the Rockies. We lost one year ago today and then started our second half surge the next day Boom. Nailed that horsefeathers. Red, apologize.

  18. Don't give up. Their offense sucked a lot last year. It can turn in a hurry, even without Schwarbs walking through the door.
  19. Until we get no hit by him. I kid. I kid. I kid?
