  1. I imagine he will be gone by Monday. If that is the case, then what is the point of pissing off La Stella (a much better/more versatile player) weakening your roster/flexibility by sending him down...then COMPOUNDING it by not only starting CC but leading him off...? Honest question. I honestly think it's all about keeping the entire roster intact for as long as possible. Perhaps an injury happens this weekend and now a spot opens up. That sort of thing. Tommy can be pissed and should be, but it's just business.
  2. But it might allow them to come up with a phantom injury and DL him again.
  3. Damn that's going to essentially be a slow rolling double or triple.
  4. I really don't understand how you can't understand what the issue is. It wasn't like he had three beers at a bar and had a DUI. His actions were deplorable and inexcusable. . Not to derail the convo......this part was actually interesting and got me thinking in that people really do excuse DUIs (I get the three beers part) in general in our society. I wonder if it's because so many people can put themselves in that position. Yet, it's quite a deplorable and inexcusable act in that innocent people are killed all the time. Really, people should be judged quite harshly for it by the public no matter the end result.
  5. That one White Sox fan they just showed, like he had the face of hopelessness.
  6. Pretty sure 2013 Javy could not have come close to that kind of AB.
  7. I don't care how, but they need to score this run.
  8. If Zobrist could just be good offensively and not even lights out like early on, it would make a nice difference.
  9. What's the better combo: 2014 Wade Davis and Greg Holland or 2016 Rondon and Chap?
  10. Question: with three real good bullpen guys is it still normal to feel nervous with a one-run lead entering the 7th?
  11. Is this actually bad Strop tonight, sort of?
  12. Tough break on the Zobrist contact. Riz did his job and Zobrist did what he was supposed to do.
  13. We scored a guy from first on an extra base hit!!
  14. [list=]I mean, it's not like Lackey imploded. Anderson hit a ball quite softly as did Abreau and Eaton struck out and Frazier weakly popped up.
  15. For our team I would just rather have the rental. Ian Kennedy getting paid 16 million still in 2020 when he's not very good in 2016 doesn't seem fun. Holy hell I didn't look up his deal before posting but I never assumed he would be under contract for 4 more seasons after this one. Ok that changes my mind a bit. Yeah. He can opt out after next season but I don't see that happening with the biggest part of the contract on the backend and him not being very good.

  17. I guess I'm asking like this: let's say the Cubs have $170 budgeted for 2017. Dex counts for 9 million of that 170. So now we are down to 161. Do the Cubs pay him another $16 at that point? (Some think we have already accounted for the 9 on this year's budget but I'm not so sure). [expletive] I hope this makes sense. I'm getting into the territory where I'm getting embarrassed for myself. (now that I've looked it up) the buyout is only $5MM, not that it makes a huge difference, but that's likely already accounted for as part of this year's budget. I think both sides always saw it as "here's $13MM and let's try it again next year". Only reason why I think it might be budgeted for next year is that the signing came late and with our payroll already high they couldn't fit it all into this year's budget. Sort of why Zobrist and Hey aren't making a ton this year either.
  18. But I figure it goes into their 2017 roster budget and so it has to be part of the money we can spend next year. Or no? I don't understand what you are getting at. The buyout always was part of that budget. The question is: Do they think Dexter Fowler is worth $16 million for one more season? Yes, they absolutely do. Or at least they should. The buyout simply doesn't figure into that answer. I guess I'm asking like this: let's say the Cubs have $170 budgeted for 2017. Dex counts for 9 million of that 170. So now we are down to 161. 19. I'm glad I asked the question. What I gather is that most here tonight think we will at least get a first round pick if we lose Dex. I like that. Sorry for derailing the game thread with it, though.
