  1. Man, I think we can dong off Albers. I really do. Even Heyward.
  2. And he's only good enough to be a 5th inning guy if Carl keeps it up.
  3. I know they don't happen very often, but I want us to go on a 10-game winning streak.
  4. I was being sincere. He said we are part of the problem when it comes to DV and athletes. And he was vocal in his disdain for the organization to pick him up. Which is totally cool. But then doesn't he himself enable by continuing to support the team? Chap being faceless to him doesn't change the fact that he is on this team. Let your voice be heard by tuning out until he's gone. She. And the post says you're part of the problem if you're trying to excuse or downplay Chapman's actions. Sorry about the gender part. I really do respect and admire the thoughts. But I guess I still standby the fact that supporting the team and giving them your money or watching the games and the TV Ads they sell is only going to encourage them to do whatever they want. And Chapman is only being able to do this because others in power are letting him. No player on the roster has used his platform to speak out on DV or that Chapman shouldn't be here. It would be tough and it would be uncomfortable, but they too are part of the problem by not saying something. David Ross supported the move to the media. Rondon said you have to get somebody like Chapman when you can. By nobody speaking up, they are making it OK to have him on the team. I hope this makes sense. If not, I apologize.

  6. For shutdown bullpen to work, you need to score at least some runs.
  7. I 100 percent respect you for this position. But now that the Cubs are part of the problem, it feels like you too are part of the problem if you watch another game this season or do anything to support them.
  8. Help me out. Since the break has Riz and Dex been the only ones to dong or am I missing a few guys?
  9. I'm come to the conclusion that Theo isn't just assuming we have the division won and dipped into his farm system to get two relievers and shore up what is considered the weakest spot on our team. So the playoffs are a crapshoot thing doesn't apply.
  10. AKA doing an interview while on the treadmill.
  11. This has nothing to do with Chapman but his issues got me thinking about another weird incident that occurred with Soler back in 2013 when he was so mad that he took a bat and attempted to get to the opposing team's dugout before teammates were able to stop him. That goes somewhat beyond your normal baseball behavior. It got me thinking: Is that fucked up enough that we aren't supposed to cheer for him? I would think not, yet at the same time a bat is a weapon and I have no idea if he really was going to use it had he not been stopped.
  12. This is probably what held up the trade. Getting their horsefeathers in order.
  13. Either that, or I'm just not always wrong, which seems to be the popular opinion here. I'm probably doing this wrong, but based on this link I'm not sure you said what you thought you said. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/archive/search.php?keywords=chapman&terms=all&author=cubbie+swagger&sc=1&sf=all&sr=posts&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search Edit: Alright the most damning post looks like it was actually a quote from Sofa, but the maybe one post you could point to came in September before two rounds of playoff series in which Chapman would have made absolutely zero difference one way or another. Just read the thread and came away curious about something: who was Tom before he was Tom? Sounds like he was infamous at one point.
  14. I did find myself thinking about that recently. I didn't like thinking about facing him in a close game come the postseason. I also don't know what value to place on that, but I do value knowing it is a situation that can't happen now.
  15. I'm in no way disputing the actual talent of Chapman. Just the time we have him under control. Chapman the baseball player is an amazing addition and right up there with anybody we could have reasonably acquired. well sometimes you need to win the world series and not worry as much about winning the award for most team control. 90 percent of our team is controlled for the next half-decade. If we win the World Series, it's the greatest trade ever!
  16. But again, not everybody even cares about trading Torres. A lot of us are cool with trading him. We just thought he could be used for another area of weakness but also for a guy in return with lots more years of control. Now in his defense, maybe Theo explored Archer, etc. and Torres was being viewed as the third piece to a trade and it wasn't going to happen so he did this. does theo seem like the kind of guy to you to do something big without exploring all available options? (also chapman has thrown 90 less innings than archer this year and has been worth one-tenth of a point less in WAR) I'm in no way disputing the actual talent of Chapman. Just the time we have him under control. Chapman the baseball player is an amazing addition and right up there with anybody we could have reasonably acquired.
  17. That's the last horsefeathering time I believe somebody on this board without checking.
  18. Pretty close. It's not unreasonable to be uneasy about paying a high price for a half season of an elite reliever. It can and has been taken too far into prospect clutching, but so is taking the 'Chapman is an elite reliever that makes us better' argument to 'Torres, Cease, McKinney, who cares they're in A-ball'. im just not going to fret one little bit about shoring up this team's biggest weakness by giving up ONE ENTIRE PROSPECT that anyone remotely cares about. Had cease actually been included i woulda tugged my collar a little bit and i would have been annoyed (but still happy to have chapman) if eloy had been the headliner. the package we gave up is literally one guy who might just as well turn into felix pie and three pieces of nothing. who cares, let's win a world series But again, not everybody even cares about trading Torres. A lot of us are cool with trading him. We just thought he could be used for another area of weakness but also for a guy in return with lots more years of control. 19. Because he seems happy and has at least been quoted as saying he would be down with returning next season even if he got traded. No reason not to stay with what you know if you're happy and the money is the same. I think Girardi has already proven this theory wrong, with the same two teams involved. Unless maybe he's super happy about managing the team on the selling end of this deal. To put it another way, which team's future would you take, which manager would you rather play for, and which bunch of guys would you rather hang with for the next half decade? I'm guessing Chapman sees it the same way as JHey did and he signs up eventually. I mean, it's not like the Yankees don't have the resources to get back into contention rather quickly. It's not a stretch that somebody, if cool with playing for the Yanks right now, would view that situation just as good and wouldn't feel the need to move without a raise.
