No, not at all like Baker and Piniella before him. EXACTLY like them(not in "style"). I was on the ESPN boards, and then here during those times...some of the very same types thought neither one of them could do no wrong their first few years based on "intangibles" and reputation/past records etc as well.. Maddon was a complete hack again tonight, and got his ass bailed out by dumb luck. lol @ managing yourself out of position players by the end of the 10th inning and NEEDING to put a pitcher in LF AGAIN. That's the coolest part. He didn't NEED to. Scissors was still on the bench.

But then you'd have to remember that Brian Matusz once put on a Cubs jersey. I still say there seemed to be a lot of optimism about a comeback within the posts about that one pitcher who started for us.

I pick this. It's even cooler when multiple guys execute. Hey hitting a big double, tagging to third and then making a perfect slide at the plate is plenty enough to make him feel good.

He's having an awful offensive year and I give him a ton of credit for finding ways to help win games. I still have faith he is gonna win us a game in the playoffs. And the beautiful part is he can do it in at least three different ways.
