  1. I always get Girardi and Damian Miller confused and I don't know why since Miller was only here for a year.
  2. Who did that? @AndrewMarchand Source: Yanks unlikely to give Girardi permission to talk with Cubs unless negotiations breakdown between Yanks and Girardi's agent
  3. I saw Sandy Alomar Jr. name mentioned today.
  4. Cubs are last in sacrifice bunts in the NL, Yankees are 5th in the AL. That's definitely something I'd give a big advantage to Dale in but not the deciding factor. If Theo and Jed don't see Dale as the long term manager and see someone out there that they want, then they should make the move. If not, might as well hang on to Dale for another year.
  5. The obsession with Aramis is weird to me. The guy is old and injury prone and can barely play 3B anymore without injuring himself. I'm glad they decided to move on from him. The alternative they chose to him was bad but signing Aramis would of been worse.
  6. details on said K? foul ball, swinging, swinging if i remember right. said they brought in a sidearmer to face him. The second strike was looking on a terrible strike call, at least 6 inches outside.
  7. That is so true. I honestly think he'll be a september '14 call up at the very latest at this point though. Even with a conservative FO like ours. Jed has already said he hopes some of these guys are playing on the big league club at some point in 2014.
  8. That offer was overboard. Just trying to say you have to listen to everyone that's on your team. That doesn't mean you're calling the other 29 teams asking them for their final offer. If a team overwhelms you with an offer, you have to at least consider it, even if you still turn it down.
  9. Rosenthal also had a TV appearance where he mentions Arizona would be "certainly interested", and "possibly" Boston as well. There's been enough rumblings about Samardzija being shopped that it's starting to depress me a bit, because even though there are a variety of reasons why they might listen to see if someone overwhelms them(lack of belief in Shark, pessimism about extending him, pessimism about competing before he hits FA) , none of them are very positive signs. Who said he's being shopped? There's a fairly big difference between listening and shopping a player around. If someone calls Theo/Jed and offers them a package they can't refuse, they'd have to at least listen. Doesn't mean you trade him but it's smart to "listen" to everyone on your team. If the DBacks offered Skaggs, Bradley and Davidson, I'd have a tough time in turning that down.
  10. Why are people still talking about resigning Garza? What indications have the Cubs given that they're even willing to give him a long term extension? Since day 1, Theo and Jed have made it pretty clear that Garza isn't in their long term plans.
  11. Especially a violent bat flip like that one.
  12. That's what you get for comparing this Iowa State team to freaking DePaul. Are you kidding me Mike Brey?
  13. I think that win is bigger than beating Indiana at home. 5 wins against the RPI top 15, no other team in the country can say that. Three of them came away from home, which makes it even more impressive.
  14. I wish he would of won the Heisman now, that would of made that this story even more crazy.
  15. Trestman is definitely a big risk but I kind of like the hire. I'll reserve judgement on anyone Emery hires.
  16. Is there an announcer that's more clueless than Bob Knight? He had no clue what was going on after that "shot-clock" violation.
  17. Well, this is the week before championship week. Best case scenario involving teams in the playoffs, would be to hire a guy on Monday. If ONLY Emery's #3 guy is available, but he really wants #1 or 2, then he only has to wait 1 more week to get his guy. After the championship games next Sunday, teams have 2 weeks off. So, win or lose, you can hire a coach that next Monday. It's not worth settling for only a week. If Dennison was the #3 and the Texans lost last week, then maybe you hire him if he's not a very distant 3rd choice. So, it would be fair game to hire, say, McCoy on Jan 21st even if the Broncos are in the Super Bowl? Somehow I missed that detail. I thought they would only interview a 2nd time but still need to wait until Feb 4. He already had 1 interview. Could hire him today if they wanted. He could still coach this weekend and thru the Superbowl too if the sides agreed. I don't think that's right. You can't hire anyone on a playoff team until they're eliminated.
  18. No there are a lot of different ugly white guys. Much like ISU doesn't just have a couple of guys who were hated in their program and caused problems. They have a lot of fake tough guys who love mean mugging the crowd and acting hard but then play really dumb and soft. And they got beat by ugly white guys. What is Fred going to do next year when he only returns 2 real players? What do you mean by 2 "real" players? ISU has Ejim, Gibson and Niang all coming back next year. We're also red-shirting a freshman this year who should contribute next year as well. And Fred has two freshman guards coming in who might start. They'll be young next year but not awful.
  19. I'm pretty sure their off season home is in Arizona, I'm just gonna go with that reason.
  20. I don't really want Hamilton anywhere near Wrigleyville. That's a relapse waiting to happen.
  21. Baylor just lost to the College of Charleston. The Big XII sure does look like dog crap early on.
  22. Why wouldn't they go to the SEC? Maybe the SEC doesn't want them, but it would seem to make more sense geographically. I think the SEC would shoot higher than those two. There's just been a lot of smoke about FSU and Clemson joining the Big XII since the summer.
  23. I wouldn't be surprised if FSU and Clemson joined the Big XII soon. The ACC and Big East might as well merge.
  24. Sounds like Maryland and Rutgers to the B1G is pretty serious. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8644587/maryland-terrapins-rutgers-scarlet-knights-talks-join-big-ten-conference-sources-say
  25. How in the hell is Gotfried recruiting like this? For Anya, NC State was literally the only team still recruiting him. Indiana dropped out a couple weeks ago, so he didn't really have a choice unless he waited for other teams to recruit him. Why do you think those teams stopped recruiting him? We know IU didn't stop due to scholarship limits. IU stopped recruiting him because they wanted to put all their focus on Vonleh, I think. I'm not sure about the other teams. Maybe they all knew he was a NC State lean.
