I wouldn't look at it that way but i forgot what article i saw it on today but i guess a player on team X called his GM or contacted his GM for assurance that they wouldn't go after Milton. Thats pretty bad considering players talk amongst themselves. I think the FO is pretty dumb and should've not suspended him and instead acted as if they were going into this season with Milton on the roster. Whats going to end up happening is either one of these three a)Cubs Release Bradley eat salary B)Cubs Trade Milton, eat entire salary of second year C) Cubs keep Bradley and play him limited games until he proves otherwise

Wow... not wanting to follow the cubs because Milton is on the team implies that you're probably a racist......? Wow just wow, the idiots we have on this board. If you can't relate to racism or haven't been a victim of it, then you need to shut your mouth if you're implying garbage like this. Sorry but idiot ideas like this, that a fan who doesn't support a team because of a player implies he's racist because the player is black, is basically the problem with racism nowadays because people use the term so loosely. Man some of you are just dumb or are just not in touch with society if you actually feel this is racist. I'm Latino and if Dave decided not to be a cubs fan because Zambrano was on the team, i wouldn't feel its a racist gesture. Like i said if you call something like this racist or if you've never experienced it, then Shut up. Lets get back on topic about Milton cause clearly some people are swaying this thread into something completely dumb.

Seems like Cameron on a short term deal wouldn't be all that bad an option at this point. Whats annoying about the Granderson trade and about last year's trades is that it seems as if it went against what Piniella wanted. Piniella wanted Ibanez last year but yet Hendry said no and instead went after bradley. Piniella wanted Granderson this year and it appears that Hendry didnt bendover backwards to get him. Its true that Piniella wanted a left handed hitter after the 08 season but i doubt he ever wanted hendry to trade Derosa or let go of Wood in the process. As a GM yes you do need to make moves but you also need to listen to your manager. I'm starting to lose faith in Jim and if the cubs dont get rid of Bradley somehow, i have a feeling the Ricketts will lose faith and replace him.

Why? Because it's a stupid meaningless phrase. And there is no opinion involved in the Samardzija question, there was never a time when everybody was hyping him, and from what I've noticed at least half the opinion on him has always been negative. whatever d-bag. And when in the world did i say this board hyped him? Which is basically what you're implying. I said he was hyped, didnt say it was on this board did I.
-
Just that gut feeling. I had the same feeling when everyone was hyping samardijza, i felt he wasn't that good of a prospect and a reliever at best which i still feel. I felt that way about Hughes, Kennedy, Bucholz, etc. I think if you watch baseball, normally you can see someone and just know they'll be something good. Its just my own opinion, not saying its right. Before you applaud yourself too hard, there was never a time when everyone was hyping Samardzija. And your ability to judge a player based on how he carries himself is dubious at best. Why because you say so or because this board is the end all of all Chicago Cubs Baseball. Give me a break, its called in an opinion which is what i've been saying all along. Its my opinion not yours.
-
ummm yes it does because how do you know that Cashner isn't a terrible pitcher. How do you know he's a good pitcher by just looking at the numbers. Its not like samardijza didnt post decent numbers. Cashner's numbers are eye poppin. Hey you answered your own question! That's how I know he isn't terrible. MY BAD LOL i mean cashner's numbers AREN'T eye popping.
-
Pretty much what i feel, i dont see how the guy who said he never saw him pitch says that Cashner will be something and nothing supports my comparison when in fact, analysts like Keith Law have said they feel Cashner will ultimately be a power reliever. I do feel Castro will be a star though, its just the way he carries himself and the way he swings the bat. The way he hits reminds me more of Manny Ramirez, of course not with that much power but with that fluid of a swing.

Seriously? You have got to be kidding. You propose trading Ramirez, Bradley, Cashner, and Jackson for Miguel Cabrera and you don't understand why that's a horrible deal? As for Cashner and Jay Jackson, I'm still not convinced Cashner is as valuable as Castro or Vitters. I get the feeling that Cashner is a Samardizja type of pitcher. You probably get that feeling without ever seeing him pitch. Actually smartass, i saw him pitch in the fall league.

Seriously? You have got to be kidding. You propose trading Ramirez, Bradley, Cashner, and Jackson for Miguel Cabrera and you don't understand why that's a horrible deal? Someone else responded by saying why would you trade your best offensive player but when's the last time Aramis has been fully healthy for a season? Eventhough Cabrera's defense at third would definitely be worse than Aramis, would it had been any worse than last year's D when Aramis was out and Fox was in? Again you're assuming Aramis will be healthy nex year. You'd have to include prospects like cashner or jackson in the deal because Aramis' value isn't that high because of the injuries. As much as i like Aramis, i feel he'll opt out after this season unless he has a season ending injury. There's no doubt Aramis is a good talent but he's also older and i'd rather trade him now than later when his injuries catch up to him or he stops producing. As for Cashner and Jay Jackson, I'm still not convinced Cashner is as valuable as Castro or Vitters. I get the feeling that Cashner is a Samardizja type of pitcher.

ok, now how many can you name who were making as much as sosa? a players trade value isn't determined on performance alone. in sosa's case, the main factor was his ridiculous salary. I hear ya. But, he had about the same value that Bradley has now. Bradley's attitude and contract make this trade pretty even par with Sosa's trade. Sosa didn't really have the attitude, but his skills were clearly declining. Both are valued enough that another team would take them if the Cubs are willing to pick up a significant portion of the salary, however. How about a monster three team deal between the Angels, Cubs and Tigers. Cubs Send Aramis + Bradley + Prospects (Maybe Cashner and Jay Jackson) Angels Send Brandon Wood + Prospects Tigers Send Miguel Cabrera Cubs Gets Miguel Cabrera (Plays 3rd Base for a season or two until Vitters is ready) Angels get Aramis Ramirez Tigers get Bradley + Wood + Prospects + Money from Cubs The deal would allow the Tigers to relieve themselves of the long term money to Cabrera, Cubs get a very young 3B/1B in Cabrera who they can fit in third til vitters is ready and then shift to 1st when he is. Angels get Aramis who they had done after before. NO Why not, i'd trade Amaris, Cashner and Jay for Cabrera any day of the week. I dont have confidence at all that Aramis can stay healthy for a full season and plus he can opt out after next yr.

In that lineup all he'll have to do is get on base to fulfill his contact. He fits much better with the Yankees in terms of pieces than he does with the Cubs. IMO, this is a very good trade for the Yankees, not so much for the D'Backs. Its a very very good trade for the Yankees, a good trade for the Tigers but a horrible trade for the Dbacks.
-
Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this but i dont think the yankees get anything other than Granderson. This is the deal on MLBtraderumors.com the Yankees get Curtis Granderson the D'Backs get Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy Tigers get Max Scherzer, Daniel Schlereth, Austin Jackson, and Phil Coke. I think the Tigers got a decent return, I would pick Scherzer over Austin Jackson. I think Phil Coke and Jackson are overrated. The Yankees in my opinion underpaid and i think thats largely in part because people have this perception that jackson is a stud and so is kennedy. There must be something going on with Scherzer and Schlereth's labrums to make that deal. Why give away dominant pitching talent for a flyball pitcher in a hitter's park? I don't see why the Diamondbacks even got involved. I have a feeling the Dbacks are overvaluing Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy. Dont know much about Schlereth but Scherzer is a beast and he's fairly young.

Time to close this thread, Heyman just tweeted its a done deal. All teams have signed off and med records are just pending. I'm done being a Cubs fan, Hendry really messed this up....... ha ha jk, i would've liked Granderson but deep inside i'm kind of glad we didnt trade Vitters, Cashner or any of our prospects for him. I think the way Hendry balked at including Castro in a deal kind of shows Ricketts might be serious about building the farm. Hopefully they sign Cameron or at least get a decent option for CF. From the looks of it, it doesn't look like the Cubs are going to acquire anything worth noting this offseason.
-
Except the proposed deal would be made by major-league GMs, who presumably aren't swayed by ESPN's fleeting mentions of Yankees' prospects. Ehh i dont know about that. Look what happened with the Santana deal and how Gomez was suppose to be an elite young OF and we all know how average he is now. If the Bluejays trade Halladay to the Redsox, i will be that Bucholz is going to be a mediocre pitcher and not the supposed future ace that they paint him out to be.
-
Ugh, that deal is horrible for the Diamondbacks. They better be receiving extra quality prospects if they're giving up Scherzer. His salary and team control probably makes him the most valuable player listed. According to mlbtraderumors, the D'Backs are the ones that pushed FOR that trade. According to Buster Olney, the Yankees and Tigers backed away from that trade. Why the yankees backed out... i have no idea. Austin Jackson is top prospect for them but Ian Kennedy is the yankees version Samardijza and Jackson i dont think has had much praise to this point. Phil Coke and Michael Dunn are garbage in my opinion. If thats all the yankees would have to give up, i would do that in a second if i were them.
