  1. Its unfair for anyone to criticize the Ricketts at this point, if anything its dumb. They barely came into ownership and to say they're cheap eventhough they already are implementing plans to improve the park for FANS... is kind of ridiculous. They already have the third highest payroll in baseball and why would they increase their payroll if their GM keeps handing out foolish contracts. The latest from Bruce Levine to me suggests that the Rickets might be thinking about firing Hendry if he doesn't work his way out of the awful moves he has made. I'm not one to give Hendry another shot because he has been a moron lately. He could've had ibanez, abreu, etc last year but instead he picked up bradley. Then he wasted money on miles when he probably could've made some moves to sign a better player in hudson. For him to keep denying that the bradley move isn't holding up anything is kind of dumb because its obvious that it is. He was stupid for suspending him last year and ruining any value he had and also making it inevitable that he would be traded. I want bradley back instead of having to trade him eat salary, etc.
  2. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4742072 Stark mentions another prospect is involved from the Phils and that Taylor is possible. He also words in a way that the Phils will receive prospects from the Mariners for Lee. So I wonder if the Phils get Hallday and prospects in the trade or if all the prospects are going to the Bluejays.
  3. Yeah, way too much money for Lackey. But ESPN will somehow overlook the amount and say "Theo did it again." Way too much? He's a better pitcher than Zambrano and it's less money. At the very least, it's overpaying a top of the rotation starter, instead of some schmuck. Is anybody signing better free agent pitchers for less? Huh, how is lackey better than Zambrano. Zambrano has better numbers and is three years younger. Zambrano is a nut case but his numbers are better than Lackey's. please tell me how Lackey is better than Z.
  4. Lee said he wouldn't give a discount and has expressed going into the open market. Halladay said he would agree to extension worth less than what he would've got in free agency. So i a sense it made sense for the Phils in that aspect. But yeah, not sure if i would've given that much up, for a second when the trade was announced i thought it would be Lee + Halladay 1-2 punch in Philly but after i heard they traded Lee, not sure it was a huge upgrade.
  5. yeah i really dont see the point in that to be honest. I think they just didnt like Lee to begin with and always had plans to pursue Halladay. I'm just glad this trade went down because it means the yankees aren't getting halladay. If the yankees dont sign Matt Holliday, i'm not sure you can say the yankees have improved this offseason. Just thinking about next season, I'm not sure Granderson's numbers will be that much better than the numbers Damon put up. And their rotiation isn't that good. If the Bosox trade bucholz for Adrian Gonzalez, I think i'll pick the red sox over the yanks in that division because of their rotation.

  7. I'm hearing King Felix is going to the bluejays..... ha ha jk but wouldn't that be dumb, if not a horrible trade for the bluejays.
  8. Just out of curiousity, if the lackey deal is done and the halladay deal is done, does anyone else other than me feel like the Yankees are feeling crappy right about now? I think the acquisition of Lackey or Halladay would have improved their club better than adding granderson. I think the Yanks had plenty of offense if they had just resigned Damon instead of adding granderson but now they added granderson but yet their rotation isn't as strong once you get passed CC, Pettite and Burnett. I think CC is the only real stud in that rotation. To make things worse, how crappy would they feel if the Bosox picked up Gonzalez by trading bucholz.
  9. Though its likely, Heyman just retweeted that he was a bit early and that he needs to confirm that cliff lee is going to the Mariners.
  10. According to Jayson Stark, the Angels are in serious discussions with Matsui for their DH role.
  11. Doesn't really sound like the Cubs will sign Capps, despite the fact the cubs and capps have interest in one another, Kinzer (Capps' agent) said the opportunity to close will be a major factor in his decision. I think the cubs need to let marmol close period because if they sign Capps i can see the same situation that happened last year with gregg, happen this year with capps.
  12. It sounds like Boston won't make a push for Bay and if they dont intend to sign Holliday, i can see Boston exploring the Bradley trade because i dont think Cameron, Byrd or any other available OF can provide as much production as bradley can, if bradley stays healthy and produces at the level that he supposedly can. Plus and most importantly, it would probably end up being a lot a cheaper and wouldn't it make it a lot easier for boston to go after Mauer after this upcoming season, if they're only paying bradley 4-5 million or nothing at all.
  13. Any chance the braves non tender Kelly Johnson and the cubs pick him up? I'd rather have him than fontenot.
  14. No way Byrd gets that kinda money. 3/20ish Im thinking I dont know man, I mean honestly, who thought Mathews would get the kind of money he did or even Bradley for that matter.
  15. I'll predict that Marlon Byrd gets Gary Mathews Jr type of money and the team that signs him, ends up regretting it. Not sure why people still get eager or obessesed with players who haven't done much of anything until their contract year.
  16. I totally agree. As much as i like Bruce Levine, i'm tired of hearding reporters like him give Hendry a pass or imply that hendry has been the first cubs gm to bring them to the playoffs in consecutive seasons. I find it to be BS because i think any GM with a $140 million payroll can get a winner here. Hendry makes horrible decisions but yet his good ones have been over amplified. His Big name free agent signings were mistakes (Soriano, Bradley), and his smaller signings were also mistakes (Miles, etc. ).
  17. I would assume we should've have to worry about overpaying Ankiel because scott boras is his agent and supposedly he's not seeking a short term deal but is seeking a long term deal for big money. I doubt the Cubs get approval for huge money for Ankiel. As for sheets, i highly doubt he gets 12 million, I can see him signing for 5-7 million plus huge incentives. I wouldn't mind it if the cubs signed him for 4-5 million plus another 5 million in incentives that depend on innings pitched.
  18. I dont have anything to prove my statement other than what i heard during broadcasts and analysis. Do you?
  19. To be honest, i wouldn't mind Soriano playing 2nd but i dont think his legs will hold up. I dont think it would be much of a drop off from Fontenot playing second, fontenot wasn't exactly a gold glove caliber SS.
  20. Because his velocity isn't what it once was. There were too many starts last in which he was strong at one point and then dropped off the next start. Harden definitely has something wrong either on his shoulder or elbow, he's become a two pitch pitcher and he's not affective if his fastball is hitting 89 because his changed up is at 85 so there isn't much drop off. He has become a two pitch pitcher? He's always been a two pitch pitcher. No he wasn't, Harden use to use a slider at one point and a splitfinger when he was with the As. It was talked about a lot when we first picked him up from the As. . His changeup has become a combination of a split and change.

  22. Or, maybe something else besides these two things. mmmmmmm ok. Point of this post was?
  23. I am starting to see a pattern here. Yup me too. Cubs have no trade partner for bradley but are trying to make a market for him. Doesn't look like its working if multiple teams are denying interest. Best bet is starting to look like he should start with the cubs and play. If he starts off well, Cubs could then either trade him or keep him.
  24. Ben Sheets!!!!!!!!!! Oh please oh please oh please oh please!!! Sheets would definitely be a nice pick up, i'd rather have sheets than Harden. Both are injury prone and can go on the DL at any given moment but at least when healthy, sheets isn't a 5 inning pitcher. Exactly! Plus, Sheets has had the surgery. Harden has not had the surgery. Sheets Zambrano Lilly Dempster Warm Body There is a lot of promise there. I need to calm down though. There is no point in getting excited for next season just yet. I dont think Sheets signs with the cubs unless he takes a low salary with huge incentives, no way the cubs commit to a 9+ million plus salary for sheets. I agree with you on the surgery part though but its still a big "if" about him pitching well again or pitching healthy again. Harden signing with the Rangers definitely does increase the chance of the cubs signing sheets but its up to the FO to make the money work.
