  1. I took him too and I'm guessing at least a few of those guys were avaible to take instead as well. Brown does have more targets than any of those guys listed and is tied for 15th most in the league, his problme is he's not scoring TD's (he only has 1 those guys all have 4 or 5 so an extra 18-24 points). I still think he has a good finish to the year, Ben is going to keep targeting him 8-12 times a game.

    NFL Week 8

Makes sense. I've always thought the NFL trade deadline should be maybe 2-3 weeks later than it is, say around week 11-12 to let teams better figure out what their chances are and/or for the top teams to add a guy if they lose someone to injury after the earlier trade deadline. Not that it really matters as trades rarely happen in NFL during the season and not a ton really happen during the offseason outside of draft day trades for mostly picks. But I'd still like to see it moved back a few weeks.
  3. Yup, which is still slightly above average velocity for lefties. Definitely seems like a guy we'd target, any rough estimates on what the overall investment will be to get him (posting fee + contract)?
  4. I wasn't saying his contract is an issue for us if we wanted to get him, as you pointed out we have plenty. I just think the Marlins aren't going to eat much, if any, of the contract and I wouldn't want to be on the hook for nearly $50mm over the next 3 years for Buerhle. I don't think he's worth it and we'd virtually have to eat all of his contract if were to trade him at the deadline to even get a half way decent prospect(s). I'd rather use that money to get 2-3 pitchers on the FA market
  5. I wouldn't do it. It leaves you pretty exposed at RB if there is an injury and I'd think White and Johnson will finish the year with the same amount of points from here one, with White likely to have more if the trends continue. If anything I'd trade one of White/Marshall for a RB upgrade/depth if you are looking for a move.
  6. Buerhle is owed 11mm, 18mm, and 19mm over the next 3 years and the primary reason to trade him is for salary relief more than getting a good return, we'd likely have to absord most of that contract. No thank you
  7. Right forearm? I was wondering what that was. More likely a band-aid covering up an affliction tattoo that's affiliated with a gang that MLB didn't want shown on National TV.
  8. I would think it's definitely a step up professionally. He goes from being a pitching coach at a D1 school to basically running the pitching operations (both the philosophical and implimentation side) of an entire MLB organization. I am guessing he's getting a pay raise and the "fringe" benefits are greater, one assumes. Agreed that he seems to fit in with the philosophy/culture Theo is trying to build. His approach to pitching and especially the bio-mechanical stuff seems very much something like Theo and co. would be proponents of. Also seems like this is a hire to try and take advantage of the inefficiency that Theo has alluded to about injury prevention/prediction.
  9. Haven't seen that. I'd be very interested in Johnson for the right price. Buehrle, not so much
  10. Sounds like a very strong hire. Did he replace someone? Or was the position open? Or is this a new position Theo and co. created?
  11. I don't think we'd need to trade Soriano to bring in Melky, we need a RF/CF. If we trade Soriano then we need LF + a RF/CF.
  12. Some combination of Lamb/Martin/Maynor/Sefolosha/Collison/Jones will be a solid second unit and I think Martin is as good of guy as any to come in off the bench when Russ and KD come out and just let him chuck for 5-8 minutes with those guys as his surrounding cast.
  13. Brown Antonio Brown or James Jones v. JAC (now that Nelson isn't playing)? I'm leaning Jones
  14. I think OKC got a decent return given the circumstances of knowing Harden was all but gone. I don't know if Harden is a guy that you bring in the be "The Guy" that the Rockets assume he is by making this trade. I think he needs the right kind of players around him to succeed. IMO he isn't a guy you bring in that makes everyone around him better and can just take on the load of scoring 20+ a night.
  15. Has a player, in any sport, ever come out and said they likely will need to have surgery after a season before that season has started and they plan on playing to start the season? http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/8559067/deron-williams-brooklyn-nets-says-need-offseason-surgery-ankle
  16. Almost exactly opposite. Keys and money clip in front left. Wallet in back left. Phone in front right (sometimes back right but always right). You left sided phone carriers are crazy. Do you check your phone with your left hand too, you freaks? Same, except wallet in back right. I have a very thin wallet with just my debit card and usually a random gift card. I was actually wondering about the pants pocket thing too, as I'm going to a much bigger phone on Monday (Galaxy SIII). I don't want my pocket to look all bulky in my pants (draws attention from the real bulk!), especially in my skinny jeans (that's a joke, I'm not gay). I used to wear the phone on my belt loop, but that was about 10 years ago with flip phones and the Nextel walkie-talkie piece of crap. I would think the SIII and other phones of its size would be incredibly hard to fit in the front pockets of any pants. Especially sitting down with it in there. You almost have to keep it in a back pocket, a bag of some sort, belt clip, cargo short/pant (lol), or a shirt pocket. http://cdn.uproxx.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/tobias-funke-thunder.gif
  17. I'd probably go Cobb as well. Green v. MIA, F. Jones v. NYG or Stephens-Howling v. SF for my FLEX? I'm thinking Jones I heard Jones might not play? Greene isn't flashy but if Jones is gimpy I Greene the best. He'll get 15-20 touches and he gets the ball in goal line situations. I'm pretty sure he's playing. I think he practiced yesterday and is scheduled to today. But I will probably waffle between Jones and Greene up until game time. Also I think Cobb is a must start for you, news came out this morning Nelson missed practice yesterday and is missing again today with a hamstring injury and possibly won't test it until game time sunday.
  18. I don't think much if any, the guy that's gonna get in the most trouble it sounds like is the one who had 7 bags in his backpack
  19. yeah......that doesnt really matter. nevermind five of them were IBBs and he forgot how to get hits. someone just trying to make a sad crap of an argument. Wait, what?? He had 26 non IBB over the last 3 months and 20 over the last 2. Had a .311/.368/.475/.844 slash line over the last month and only 3 of the 5 IBB were in the 2nd half.
  20. Ridiculous as they may be, you realize they found a grinder, scale and 10 bags of weed in his house/apt, right? It's not like they caught him with one bag or something. It appears there was definite intent to distribute.
  21. Probably lies somewhere in between him being a [expletive] idiot and him being a [expletive] idiot
  22. Wait, what position wouldn't you put yourself in? Taking a picture with your dad as the team that employs him celebrates making it to the world series? You wouldn't do that? Being in rookie ball like he is I would be more inclined to do it. If he were in AAA though... Probably shouldn't do it. I'm not sure how his teammates that played at the MLB level for the Cubs would take it. Personally I wouldn't have a problem with him doing it if he were on the MLB team unless the Cubs had just lost to them in the postseason. He wasn't even wearing Giants stuff in that picture. He just got a picture on the field with his dad after his dads employer just had a major moment in the organizations history. I have no problem with it, if he's in instructs or the star of the the [expletive] Cubs MLB team.
  23. I agree, I took the points with Carolina in my weekly pick em pool at +9.

    NFL Week 8

To their credit, didn't Peterson have a ton of carries 4 days ago? I'm thinking heavy workload plus short rest plus 10 months after tearing his ACL had something to do with it. That and the fact that the Vikings were trailing all game. This, plus he had 2 fumbles. I know he's still AP, but they gave some carries to Gerhart in the first half after the 2nd fumble.
