  1. Nice, hopefully he gets the bat going. He has a nice bb% but his avg/slg is pretty poor (and his babip is about normalized at .270). Hopefully he can get to Kane County by mid-summer. I know you know he's in Kane County already. :D Brain fart, meant Daytona.

  3. Sounds like Appel just didn't have command of his secondary pitches last night, his velo was still in the mid-high 90's according to a poster on PSD and also it sounded like the infield defense didn't make a few plays. I actually hope Appel doesn't have another great start (but obviously is healthy) and Gray finishes the year really strong and that swings the Astros to taking Gray. I understand the Astros FO is smart enough to look at the body of work and not get influenced by a good/bad 2 week stretch if health isn't an issue.
  4. And they have Wacha and Martinez and I think Rosenthal could end up a starter still but at the least be an elite late innings guy.
  5. That's about right.
  6. Probably because he's right and that's true
  7. I want Bryant of Fraizer if Appel goes #1, with a slight lean towards Bryant.
  8. WTF is that tattoo that Gray has? Douche chills....
  9. So apparently the Dolphins are threatening to look into relocating soon if they can't get some city/state help with a new stadium (they want something like $3mm a year for 30 years). Is there any other city other than LA that a team could make sense moving to? Maybe Vancouver or Toronto (though I'm guessing Seattle/Buffalo would have issues with those two taking away from their market)?
  10. I have plenty of friends who think screaming eff you and flipping someone off at someone they don't know is fun, they live in padded rooms, but they think it's fun.
  11. I don't think so. I've always been of the opinion that one or two high-quality relief pitchers are just as important as your rotation guys. I agree with that to a point. Since we don't know what Vizcaino is due to the TJS I'd rather have him be given a chance to start to see what we have. If he was healthy and starting now I'd have no problem with calling him up to be in the pen, but I don't know if it would be wise to simply rule out him being a starter and condition him to be a pen guy from day 1 when he's ready to come back. Also Wood, Feldman and Villanueva's underlying numbers all point to regression at some point and it's not like we are loaded with depth at SP in the minors right now.
  12. That's both accurate and depressing. Dolis has never had a year with less than 4 BB/9 and his K-rate is above average but not exceptional in the minors. I kind of hope they just give up on letting Vizcaino start and he can immediately become a relief ace. That's kind of shortsighted.
  13. Don't worry, Johnathan Gray will be in the system soon enough
  14. Halladay to have surgery to clean out bone spur(s) in his shoulder and clean out his labrum/rotator cuff. So it kinda sounds like it might be one of those surgeries where they go in and aren't sure what's wrong and are just going to kind of look around. He claims he can still come back and pitch this year.
  15. :-k Meant to say Navarro... But it's not like Castillo doesn't fall in the same category
  16. Wellington Castillo is so bad at catching/framing he couldn't smooth a silk sheet if he had a hot date with a babe...I lost my train of thought.
  17. He's not. Marshall, was really, really good as a relief pitcher (probably could even call him elite). Since Marshall has become a fulltime relief pitcher (2010) he has put up fWAR's of 1.9, 2.6 and 1.7, in the same time frame (2010 happened to be Russell's first year up as a relief pitcher) Russell has put up fWAR's of -.3, -.2, and .8 I think Russell has his uses, but he's hardly above replacement level. That's valuable when you have him cheap for team controlled years but I have no real interest in extending him once he hits FA and/or gets expensive in arbitration. Marshall is on another level compared to Russell.
  18. If only a bit of that could rub off on Baez
  19. Well they are STUDENT, athletes.....
  20. Never bought him last year during his mini-hot streaks. Had crzay BABIP's at all levels and had k% above 20% at both A levels he was at including it going up by 5% with a promotion.
  21. I really would like to know if Baez is struggling vs. one kind of pitch and/or location or if he's just hacking at everything. I hope it's the former and he can work on it but I fear it's the latter with his free swinging style and he's probably just hacking at all sorts of pitches and locations with 2 strikes.
  22. Last year, I think
  23. Yuniesky Betancourt hit his 8th HR tonight
  24. Kevin Gregg with the glasses on kind of looks like David Wallace http://cdn.sportsoverdose.com/thumbs/kevin-gregg-63-mlb.jpg http://waitseriouslywhookdthis.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/davidwallace.jpg
