  1. So Valverde is the Tigers closer again and he looks like he still has the same average stuff he had last year that made them not want him back.
  2. We gave ourselves a game in OKC! Houston was just down like 15
  3. Chicago Cubs 2013 Starting Pitching Staff motto should be "We are exhibit A in the case for why W-L records for pitchers is an awful metric to judge an individual pitchers talent"
  4. Gameday had pitches 1 and 2 to Rizzo as pretty borderline strikes. Especailly 2
  5. Samardzija should probably come out soon, 100+ pitches and not through 6 with some sort of cut/injury on his finger.
  6. Gotcha, well hopefully its nothing too bad. Though if there was blood that could mean a cracked/broken finger nail and that could definitely prohibit him from pitching for a week or so. I was confused because I saw the comment on the poster wanting the ball hit at Latos to be higher.
  7. I can only assume they wouldn't have left him in with a broken finger. What happened? he tried to field a ball with his bare hand and it deflected, trainer went to the mound and he stayed in with a bleeding finger. I'm listening though so I didn't see how bad it was. Are you talking about Samardzija or Latos?
  8. I can only assume they wouldn't have left him in with a broken finger. What happened?
  9. Really? It seems to me like they start almost everyone there. High school or rehab guys, yes. Pierce Johnson is in Kane County. I was thinking more along the lines of Soler. Didn't he start there because he basically didn't play any baseball in like 1-2 years?
  10. Hey, Derrick!?! Tell me how my ass tastes
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qR6PSLDKYFQ Video of Vanderbilt's Tyler Beede's 10k game (all 10k's). His changeup at the 40, 47 and 50 second marks look filthy.
  12. Wouldn't those token starts take place this summer? Prior didn't pitch for the Cubs after the draft. I don't recall the story around his negotiations, or why he didn't start at all that summer. But part of the excuse for starting him in the minors the year after the draft was that he never pitched as a pro. How many innings will he be at by the end of the college season? 130-150ish, I think. He has 70 right now and they have 20 games left (so he probably has 5-6 starts in there)+CWS.
  13. Drop Rickie Weeks Add Freddie Freeman
  14. My girlfriend's family moved out to Avon, CT when she was like 12 and she went to middle school/HS there and then she went to Boston University for a year before transfering to a school here in Wisconsin, that we met at, to be closer to her family who had moved back to the Rockford area that they are originally from. She very much acts like she was from Boston her whole life even though she only spent one year at BU and lived in CT for just the 6-7 years her family moved out there (she was born in Wisconsin but grew up in Rockford before the move to CT). So I can back up these claims of what you are talking about here and it can get annoying. I know, cool story.
  15. It's a good thing they had him stop throwing cutters last year since, you know, that's the only thing that can wreck a pitchers arm (or whatever connection their dumb ass pitching coach was trying to make about cutters and injuries). It was silly, but it's not like not throwing cutters got him hurt. I agree, this probably would have happened eventually. But do you think the process could have been expedited by making him drop the cutter last year (a pitch he's thrown for a long time) and making him throw more sliders/curveballs (pitches he hadn't thrown that long/didn't use a ton)?
  16. Thanks Raisin :good: . Boise's rotation will certainly be on the nightly watch list come June. We need at least one of those starters to pan out, to say the least..
  17. It will be interesting to see who accomplishes trading down, at the moment, almost everyone seems to want to trade down except the 49ers.
  18. McNeil, Blackburn and Underwood are just in instructs, right? They aren't dealing with injuries, correct?
  19. It's a good thing they had him stop throwing cutters last year since, you know, that's the only thing that can wreck a pitchers arm (or whatever connection their dumb ass pitching coach was trying to make about cutters and injuries).
  20. Mike Brown signs a 5 year $20mm contract to go back to Cleveland.
  21. If I know anything about the Cubs history of facing a guy for the first time it's to expect a minimum of 7 innings of shut out baseball.
  22. So Dusty said this today, "On-base percentage is good. But RBIs are better.”
