  1. He’s been on fire but he wasn’t worth that contract. There’s still ugly underlying peripherals to a degree and he’s complete horsefeathers on defense.
  2. Sadler has looked plenty capable in games he’s not raining sweat on himself
  3. KB looked like he was locking in the game or two before he got the shits, hopefully he’s ready to catch a heater
  4. Time to start considering a bullpen role for Q (especially since it means he’d be back up and ready sooner since he doesn’t need to stretch out as much).
  5. Carlos Rodon has made two starts this year and left both starts with injuries.
  6. Jay Bruce is apparently still in the league and on the Phillies and hit a dong off of Gerrit Cole tonight. Also looks like Soroka suffered a significant league injury.
  7. How many IP does he have to have this year to trigger the option year? I remember reading that prorated it would be difficult to do but possible. I’d hate that this deformed excuse for a season was his last as a Cub, but I believe the option year is like $5m more than his salary this year $15 mil difference on the option. $25 mil option, $10 mil buyout. He needed to reach 200 IP for the option to vest which translates to about 75 innings prorated for the year. He has 10 starts left so needs to average over 6 innings a start, 11 innings in 2 starts so far. Not impossible but probably not happening. He’ll have a stinker and go 3-4 or they’ll go 6-man rotation at some point to give guys a breather or something I’d imagine.
  8. It has to be a top 5 (maybe 3), 9 figure contract for a SP of all time.
  9. Call him up for Almora. Go Happ/Heyward/Nico in CF with KB getting some more OF time and Bote/Dietrich getting more infield time.
  10. Now go win 3 of 4 vs the Royals and likely have a nice weekend off to relax next weekend because the Cardinals don’t know how to act like responsible adults
  11. His mechanics back there look a lot better than years past and he seems more “quiet” for a lack of a better term. But it’s such a small sample at this point who knows. And even for the “good” framers there’s year to year variance. Seems to be better this year, so far, but he seems awkward. Like he's swiping at the pitches. Doesn't seem overly smooth. That swiping like he’s doing is something the good framers do with starting a little low below the zone and grabbing it up.

  13. No Bryant available, Happ and Vic looked like horsefeathers vs lefties the other night and Vic has looked rough in general. You don’t want Kipnis or Heyward facing lefties and all those guys can come in once a RHP comes in if there’s a big AB. Except Brault is probably only pitching 2-3 innings, and then the Pirates will bring in a RHP. So the stiffs against RHs will get ABs against RHs. So then bring in some of switch/LHB when that happens for Phegley/Almora/Etc.
  14. Little concerning that Votto is also on the IL now for reporting coronavirus symptoms. It can take a few days for someone to test positive if exposed. That said, if he is already showing symptoms and is still negative then he's probably ok. One of the beat guys says he’s getting tested one more time tomorrow for final clearance.
