I’m the most worried about Javy. He was never that elite outside of 2018. He might just be a guy who plays defense. That was an abomination of an AB up 2-0. -
Lester has had blow up starts like this every year. Is what it is. The offense being shoved around by Dallas Keuchel is more troubling.

Almora is completely horsefeathering useless. Not that wasn’t a hard play, but he’s on the roster to make that play. If he isn’t going to make it he has no use.

I believe his legit reasons for leaving but I think he also got sick of the back and forth of the complaining to complain and no real substance to back the complaints when he was giving real reason and stats. But whatever I think he’s largely gone for good for whatever reasons. everyone always agreed the cubs were better, it was never about that. it was about his unwillingness to admit they were vulnerable and that bad stuff could happen to them. Sure. That’s not why he left, imo. Talking to him he got fed up with some stuff here and the main thing was Ricketts/Russell.

I mean it didnt have anything to do with the brewers specifically, it was because we would get into fights in every game threads. people (like me) would complain about the games and he would overcompensate by developing the shtick. Then the cubs actually did lose and he said horsefeathers it and left. Idk why people are acting like this didnt happen. I’m in a chat with Aaron/Duke on Twitter. Last I talked to him was around spring training. He’s even disappeared from there since, though he seemed like he was going to be talking more here/there for the upcoming season before the shutdown. The main reason he went dark was because of Russell and Ricketts but he also was helping coach a HS football team and taking it seriously and his job seemed to be pretty time consuming. Hope he’s doing alright, wherever he is.

I think that’s a good thing for us. Bury the Reds. The cardinals are going to die on their death march, they have a double header a week the rest of the way and 2 weeks with 2 double headers and only 2 off days. That also gives us some margin to win only 2 of 5 in cincy next weekend.

He literally needs to be making every diving catch like that to justify a roster spot with his stupid red glove.

I mean, this is the same horsefeathers they've been doing for the last 4 years right? So no surprise there, but still obviously frustrating. Yup, but on the somewhat positive side they’re getting a ton of base runners and on base a lot as always and more chances at it than almost every team. Going in to today we’ve had 219 PAs with RISP, tied for 11th best, but have played 2-5 less games than everyone ahead of us.

Were his cutter and slider always as nasty as they appear to be? There seems to be a ton of movement, without checking pitch FX. They basically Jake’d him and said “hey your slider and cutter are good and grade out well, throw it more idiot.”

God damn it Ross. Cut the horsefeathers trying to use guys for multiple innings who have just been normal 1 inning dudes before. And then going to Winkler with traffic and no outs.

Happ is legitimately good, they should seriously extend him. Not a FA for 3 years. It won’t take more than ~$70 mil most likely. Him, Rizzo and KB in the $150-180 range would make me very happy.

I’m kinda in favor of banning shifts to the degree of you need two infielders on either side of 2B. You can still shift them between 3B-2B and 2B-1B accordingly and even go short RF if you want with a 2B for a slow RHB or something and you can move the OF’ers around still but the 3-4 guys on one side of 2B including a RF, short RF’er and then a guy in the regular 2B spot I want to see go.

Yeah there’s more evidence Javy isn’t all that elite of a hitter than he is, at this point. Which makes sense with his profile. It also looks like we are continuing the wildly successful practice over the last ~3 years of letting guys just play through injuries with this KB wrist/hand/elbow/finger thing. At the least I hope he’s sitting going in to or coming out of the off days the next two Thursday's. I like that lineup with where we are at and what we know. Switch Bote and Heyward at the bottom now that I think about it more....makes it too easy for a tough lefty late in the game otherwise, even though Heyward profiles better as that 'second leadoff'. But yeah, Baez going forward seems to be absolutely still a first division starter, but someone you want to wait until his hot streaks come up before handing him a top spot in the line up. Yeah, see my lineup edit before I saw your response. Same idea there. Also spreads the contact around a little better.
