  1. Puig would be really interesting, if he's truly available. Though him in CF flanked by some combination of Schwarber/Coghlan/Soler would likely lead to a pretty bad OF defense if I had to guess. I also wonder how high, or low, the asking price would be? I would also think if you traded for him you'd have to sign someone like Jackson or Bourjous or trade for Maybin or Martin for late inning defense.
  2. If you see them getting an elite sp, I don't really see the need for a second starter. Maybe someone as depth, but nothing that would take serious trade chips. If something presents itself to upgrade the four or five spot, sure, they do that, but I don't see why they'd do something that they don't consider fair value. Like Kyle said, they'll just roll with what they have. We may not like hammel, but he's more than fine as a five I agree, if they get an "elite" SP (either thru trade or with money) I don't see them spending any more significant resources on another SP and probably at most bringing in a guy like Bud Norris as depth or whatever you would call an addition of guy like him. I also am completely fine with Hammel as the 5, especially if they feel the 2nd half was due to fatigue/mechanics going out of whack/etc. and not any sort of injury that would linger or loss of stuff.
  3. Yeah I'm not trading Soler for either guy, I would be okay with a Baez for Ross trade but no real interest in Teheran
  4. The Padres are shopping Ross, according to Rosenthal
  5. Nothing to see here. [tweet] [/tweet]Excellent
  6. I did look at their schedule so far and they've played 2 game they've against the Clippers, Spurs, Rockets and Thunder. The Rockets game was a 20 points blowout, but the Clippers game was a 4 point win in Oakland. Huh? They haven't played the Spurs or Thunder yet. They've played New Orleans x2, Memphis x2, Houston, LAC, Detroit, Sacramento, Denver and Minnesota. Not the hardest schedule in the world, only Detroit and LAC are over .500.
  7. I don't have any idea on the depth, but I do know that there is no clear 1.1 guy like a Harper or Strasburg.
  8. Curry is playing out of this world right now and the Warriors are so good and fun to watch, still don't think they will get to or pass 72. The West is too hard of a conference on top of I think the Warriors will value health for the playoffs vs topping 72 and will probably take the necessary measures to make sure guys are getting rested.
  9. gondeee ‏@gondeee Braves may not be done trading fan favs. Sources I have close to team tell me Atlanta has talked with other teams about Freeman & Teheran. I wonder if there's a potential 3-team trade possible with us, the Braves and Orioles. Thinking something that involves Gausman and Maybin coming to us, Freeman/Tehran going to the Orioles, and Baez and other stuff (idk what the Orioles system all has and what the Braves would like in ours, maybe Jeimer and Underwood?) going to the Braves.
  10. Aren't there limits on the amount of owners per team? Or is that only NBA and it's like 7?
  11. I'd definitely be interested if the price was right, but he's really just a platoon player/defensive sub. We'd need to find a RH platoon partner, bring back Jackson?. I'd imagine a Bradley/Jackson platoon in CF would yield an overall positive WAR for the year, though it would be weighted heavily on defense.
  12. Bundy shut down from AFL with "forearm tightness." [expletive] THEM ALL
  13. President of team moral and bench theatrics
  14. A Zobrist signing would almost certainly mean 1 of Castro, Soler or Baez are getting traded.
  15. Rizzo was able to make the adjustments to do better against LH pitching. Schwarber has a good work ethic so it's reasonable to expect his splits to get better next season. While we're being optimistic, Contreras might be able to help provide some balance. Yeah I think it's reasonable to expect Schwarber to at least be serviceable vs LHP in the future, he's just too good of a hitter. He should be able to put up a slash line like .250/.320/.400 against them
  16. Since it's a shoulder injury, and those are often the precursor to a pitcher's demise, he's presumed dead until proven otherwise.
  17. It should take something significant to get Bauer, the stuff/pedigree/some periods of sustained success are there and he's still young and cheap. I absolutely love the idea of him tho, he's very intelligent. Haven't heard many players talk about pitching like he does.
  18. I can't remember from last offseason, but he profiles more as a middle of the rotation guy than a ACE/top of the rotation guy, right?
  19. Brantley is out 5-6 months with a shoulder injury/surgery, I wonder what kind of value we could get for Coghlan from the Indians as he could be viewed as a cheapish injury space holder/hedge on Brantley not being 100% all year? Or maybe this will help boost his value as a 2/3rd piece in a trade for one of their starters.
