    I'm at the game watching batting practice... Soler hit some absolute bombs. 1 ball cleared the bleachers in LF, one went off the scoreboard and one went off the batters eye in CF and took like 1 second to get out.

    Rizzo and Bryant would be the only untouchables to me with Russell being close but if we got back Simmons in the deal I'd be okay with giving up Russell. Russell/Schwarber/Torres/Almora/Contreras/Their pick of 1-3 minor league pitchers/And a guy or two in the Jeimer/McKinney/Dewess/etc. pile for Trout and Simmons

    What would have happened if the batter who hit the ground ball (Smoak I think) kept running around the bases and scored there while they were brawling? Is a play dead once other players start running on the field?

    Yep. This is the optimal lineup, at least until Soler stops being terrible. If you flipped Javy's and Jorge's BABIP's we'd be talking about Jorge being a damn near all-star and guessing what Japanese team Javy will be playing on in a few years.

    Andrew Miller intrigues me at the right price. IIRC, we were in on him last year in FA until the price got high and I think some combo of Theo/Jed were in Boston when they acquired him and turned him into a relief pitcher.

    Eh, Ross has been awesome but he's also only player in 70, 50 and 30 games the past 3 years. While he maybe should get a little bit of an expanded role I worry he might really wear down at his age if we say push it and have him play 100+ games. It probably wouldn't be wise to get rid of Montero in case Contreras would fail and then really have to rely on Ross for a prolonged stretch. As Joe alluded to the other day a reason some of these guys may be playing so well is because of regular rest and an expanded role would diminish returns.

    Did 2004 have unseasonably warm weather, more night games or more weekend games early in the season? It's probably a combination of a lot of variables including pricing and time of year. I don't mean the 2004 Cubs only had one game below 38k *at this point*. I mean they only had one all year. Well then, Clown Kenney must be up to his dastardly deeds once again

    Lots of crappy weather and week games in April/May has a lot to do with it I'd imagine.

    It would suck for us being in the same league but they should go all in and get Trout. Offer Rendon, Giolito, Turner, Cole and Robles.
