  1. Actually, Olney followed it up with......I get it, Schwarber is a lefty, middle of the order bat, that's 30/100 year in, year out. Can't trade that for a relief pitcher. You think there is a chance Schwarber catches and Conteras plays outfield? Yes, as long as they feel it won't compromise his knee catching. In an ideal world he catches ~25 games next year with ~120 in the OF. Contreras catches ~90 and ~50 in the field and Montero catches ~30 games.
  2. And that's why you pay Jason Heyward http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/arresteddevelopment/images/6/6c/1x10_Pier_Pressure_(42).png/revision/latest?cb=20120229061749
  3. My thoughts exactly. It was almost like Theo/Jed got a hold of him and said "hey dumb horsefeathers we aren't trading Schwarber, this is what you are going to say on air today."
  4. No? He seems to beat out a ton of balls, especially balls that appear to be double plays
  5. With LaStella back now, I wonder if they'd make something up to put Zobrist on the DL to get him a break for when Soler/Fowler come back and go with a Baez/Seal Boy platoon for 2 weeks?
  6. Framing/familiarity with Hendricks maybe? Wanting to keep Willson fresher and not catch on a hot day like this? Preferred his bat over LaStella/Szczur? Off day tomorrow as well.
  7. Bryant came up and Olney and the idiots in the booth start blabbering about how maybe this moving guys around "has gone too far." Olney even cited an "AL exec" he spoke to who said maybe teams should be like the Royals who had the same lineup everyday last year and won a word series! Lol...baseball players are playing multiple positions.... HAS SCIENCE GONE TOO FAR? One other thing too, they apparently think playing the same position every day gives a player an advantage of being a better hitter. Science!
  8. Bryant comes up to the plate "maybe guys are being moved around too much." Contreras comes up "how valuable is it to have a guy with a bat like this who can catch and play the field." Stay classy, ESPN
  9. Ohh I never watch ESPN so I hadn't heard this. Tell me more. Bryant came up and Olney and the idiots in the booth start blabbering about how maybe this moving guys around "has gone too far." Olney even cited an "AL exec" he spoke to who said maybe teams should be like the Royals who had the same lineup everyday last year and won a word series!
  10. This "guys are playing too many positions" narrative ESPN seems to be pushing lately is a pretty big reach for even them in their manufacturing of stories
  11. He absolutely should get the 3rd game but I fear Lackey's "experience" is gonna give him that spot.
  12. No way should they be sellers, they are in the first WC spot and only 4.5 out of the division. Maybe they shouldn't go make a big trade "to go for it" but they shouldn't sell when a playoff spot is right there for them to have.
  13. I'd be pretty shocked if he pitched again this year, or at least was able to come back effective/make regular starts, his injury needs a surgery to make it right. Rest doesn't help it. Long story, short. I am buddies with an NBA player and was in Vegas for summer league with him 2 weeks ago, we were talking about baseball and Kershaw's injury came up. My buddy said he had the same injury this year that Kershaw has now, Kershaw is working with the same doctors that did his surgery/diagnosis, and rest/rehab/shots/etc. don't help at all, you need to have the surgery to fix it.
  14. So Jameson Taillon took a line drive off the head tonight, ball ended up in LF, and he somehow stayed in the game. You'd think with the emphasis on concussion protocol he'd be forced to come out of the game.
  15. That's why you probably shouldn't think too much about it or put too much weight on it. Weird game, new game in only a about 15 hours. Get over it
