  1. Kluber making history and taking a loss is gonna make this even better
  2. For as smart or "enlightened" as these guys are. I'd especially include Law in this, they seem to really dig in on their stances on stupid things that aren't as obvious or "smart" as they make it out to be.
  3. Yeah guessing he's gonna try and bunt. But good luck with that with the Bermuda Triangle defense
  4. I like the move more now that Cameron hates it. Coghlan will probably hit for the cycle tonight
  5. Small sample size/arbitrary end points, but in 85 PAs in August, September and October Coghlan had an OPS in the mid .800s. I'm fine with this move to let him get 2-3 ABs then pulling him for defense/pinch-hitter.
  6. Yeah on the surface it just seems getting as many good LHBs in there vs Kluber but also saving Willson for a PH spot later in the game. Also if Schwarber looks awful, it could be getting Coghlan some abs to use as a DH tomorrow or games 6/7.
  7. Verducci just said he's been told that Salazar has 70 pitches (he estimated 4 innings) and he's done in this series. Was told that's what he's getting then it's see him in spring training. FWIW.
  8. How exactly did Kipnis hurt his ankle like that celebrating? Did he get like thrown down and turn it and feel awkwardly or was it like jumping over the dugout fencing?
  9. I'm the opposite. No way am I missing a clinching game, but I thought about buying WS gear but decided against it. Two reasons: (1) that WS stuff looks pretty lame once it's out of date; and (2) superstition. I bought a divisional series sweatshirt one year and a regular Cubs t-shirt another year when they were in the playoffs, and they blew up both times. Pretty sure he meant after they win the title. I'd never buy any merchandise before that. When I was younger, yeah. I'm waiting for a few weeks after to buy anything when they start discounting it to hell. There's some cool NLCS stuff I like but will wait until they put it at like 40-60% off.
  10. The fear of having Tommy LaStella playing has blinded me by forgetting he is, indeed, not on the roster
  11. I'd say my most confident guess is Willson in LF, Bryant in RF, Javy at 3B, Zobrist at 2B. 2nd guess would be Bryant/Zobrist in LF/RF, LaStella at 2B (GOD NO, NO GOD) Javy at 3B.
  12. This is why I can only feel so bad for the rooftops and bars in the area when they complain about the Cubs buying stuff up and moving in
  13. I've had a general sense of calmness and ease since after the game Thursday. We got this
  14. I have no interest in Melancon for multiple reasons. Jansen or Chapman or bust. If it's neither of those two look at trades, Rule 5, or FA/DFA dumpster dive poo-poo platter that's there every year and hope you hit on 1-2 guys out of 10.
  15. I have a buddy who's family owns a condo in the south loop/museum park area as a vacation/3rd home or whatever you want to call it. I have him checking in to see if anyone is using it this weekend, if nobody is I'll probably head down Saturday morning and maybe hangout around Wrigleyville until 4-5ish then head back to the condo to watch the game and then maybe head out after depending on the outcome because I don't feel like getting to a bar at 8am having to sit there for 15 hours
  16. Daniel Hudson, Derek Holland, Bud Norris and Ivan Nova are all guys who interest me in this rough bullpen role, to varying degrees. Nova might get offered a starting role by someone since he had some success with the Pirates after the trade deadline but his stuff could play up out of the pen and could go multiple innings or spot start when needed. Holland's got an option that the Rangers would be nuts not to pick up, but I'd love him if they let him go. Nova's a name I like as New Hammel. Holland's been pretty trashy as a starter and injury prone the past few years. He's 30 so maybe the decide they'd rather save the $10 million than bring him back to bring in someone more dependable. I think he's a guy who could see some success as a RP, his velo is still pretty decent and as a lefty with even a slight uptick he could become something more than Wood.
  17. I'm also not against Brett Anderson in a similar-ish capacity.
  18. Yup and even went into a foot first slide with no hesitation/sloppiness and looked completely at ease doing that tells me all I need to know.
  19. "Is exit velocity useful?" "How much money will the Cubs make when they charge $6600 a ticket???" Kyle Schwarber's Exit Velocity is So Great The Cubs Are Making 1/4 of a Billion Dollars a Game in The World Series
