  1. Ah, hi yes. I was promised dongs. Score some runs, jerks
  2. This is the most excited/anxious I've been for a game all postseason. Not that I haven't been enjoying it tremendously but now I feel like it's finally real that the WS is being played in Wrigley
  3. Who would you play over Soler tonight and why? Especially knowing what we know about Tomlins splits and the wind? Assuming this is a sincere question, I would put Heyward out there because I think we have enough offense on hand to win the game, especially against Tomlin, and I'd be more concerned with making sure we had a sure handed OF out there with the wind being a factor on fly balls. Fair enough. I disagree but understand the sentiment
  4. What do you mean by this? Stubhub stops selling tickets 6 hours before gametime, which causes a bunch of unsold tickets to flood into the market, and people usually panic and the prices start dropping. There are a lot of scams on craigslist but saw quite a few geniunine looking posts selling tickets for well under 1k each, some in the 500-600 range for actual seats. I'm hoping the same thing happens tomorrow. If I can get a physical seat for ~$1,500 or so I'm heading down. Right now though that's not out there.
  5. Maybe he will. It's baseball...and that happens. But you've been down about just about every decision the Cubs have made here recently. Maybe it's time to trust that they know what they're doing. I felt like Schwarber would struggle against Kluber, and thought starting Coghlan was pointless. Soler hasn't done anything of note since before September. I get that I went against the popular sentiment on the first one, but the other two aren't particularly thin limbs to climb out on. Who would you play over Soler tonight and why? Especially knowing what we know about Tomlins splits and the wind?
  6. I was wrong about Schwarber struggling against Kluber, and I'll be happy to be wrong about Soler, but what about his last 2.5 months of baseball makes you confident he's going to not go 0-3 with a K and struggle in the OF? He's worked some really good counts during the playoffs and taken some walks and he only needs to make marginal contact in this wind to get one out tonight. He's mostly fine in the OF and is only going to play ~6 innings anyways. Plus Tomlins splits+this wind are great big flashing lights screaming to get him in this lineup.
  7. From a few tweets I've seen Wrigleyville already looks like a zoo and bars are already packed. I've ran quite a few jags in my day but I can't imagine sitting in a bar for damn near 15+ hours.
  8. Yeah it makes no sense. He should be brought back and is an important part of the teams history, especially with a ton of current fans. Like you said, something bad/ridiculous must have happened sometime in 2004 that has never gotten out that he's been blacklisted. nah the most likely story is they hated him and Ricketts buys into the "shame" of steroids and whatnot. The holdovers still hate him, ricketts sees little upside in bringing him back and the new crew isn't wasting their time pushing for the other side. True. The main holdover in any decision making power is Crane so it has to be some combo of him/Ricketts, you'd think.
  9. Yeah this isn't a good look for the Cubs. Unless he murdered someone that I don't know about, he should be there. He must have done something bad that wasn't reported that burned serious bridges. The fans from what I've seen generally either want him welcomed back or are indifferent. He had a lot of warts, but I believe he had a net positive impact on the Cubs organization. He is not the biggest reason, but I think he is a small reason why the Cubs are a nationally relevant team, and an entire generation of fans who are now in their early-30's grew up idolizing Sammy. Yeah it makes no sense. He should be brought back and is an important part of the teams history, especially with a ton of current fans. Like you said, something bad/ridiculous must have happened sometime in 2004 that has never gotten out that he's been blacklisted.
  10. They had Lackey start down 2-1 in LA. He's going to start if we are down 2-1 at home. He'll just have a short leash with Monty ready to go. Simple as that. We are gonna be up 2-1 tho. So it doesn't matter.
  11. And also who needs hitting when all those pitchers are coming back and penciled in for 30+ starts. No worries in the world If you ask those guys over at Refugee they would destroyed the Cubs this year if not for health issues. Yup and they will destroy us next year even after they lose Cespedes, can't afford any meaningful FA because their owners have no money and all their injured pitchers come back completely fine and are all CY Young candidates even tho there's decades of evidence staring them in the face telling them the contrary that more than half their rotation is dead and/or shells of their former selves when healthy. But 100 win team easy next year. No problem
  12. I think the way I'd play it is get Schwarber as many reps in LF today and tomorrow as possible pre-game, without obviously over doing it. Then let him be a PH tomorrow and maybe keep him in the game for a bit when he does PH if we need offense. But then if they feel he looks decent enough, feels good enough, and don't think they risk any sort of re-injury have him start the Sat and Sunday games out there. Tomlin's reverse splits and Schwarber's time off not taking flyballs is enough for me to start Soler tomorrow over him.
  13. If I had to guess the lineup I'd say it's. Wouldn't mind seeing Baez moved down a notch or 2 tho for Contreras and even Soler. Fowler CF Bryant 3B Rizzo 1B Zobrist LF Baez 2B Contreras C Soler RF Russell SS Hendricks P
  14. Not to be pedantic, but in all likelihood it's one of Napoli and Santana in any given non-DH game, not both. Possibly the same for the Cubs re Schwarber, but on paper you're taking away relatively more of their standard firepower. Apparently Santana was taking flyballs in LF the past 2 days in Cleveland they are thinking of playing him out there.
