  1. Heyman gonna Heyman
  2. 99% sure it's Midnights EST, needs to be on the roster before Sept 1 to be postseason eligible
  3. They can have any combination of the pitchers they want for all I care because TINSTAAPP and they are all so far away

  5. When was the last Friday night, non playoff, game in Wrigley? I would assume the bump is to accommodate ESPN or MLBN for a national broadcast
  6. We should Chapman it and send Wilson back in a deal for Verlander like Warren last year
  7. Justin Upton to the Angels
  8. Looks like this is happening, good to get everyone (not just Lester) a little extra rest. I don't even consider it extra rest. They are in the middle of their longest stretch of the year without an off day (20). This is just Joe fixing what the schedule makers screwed up. Add that its the time of year where team could very likely be making up postponed games, and its kinda ridiculous. Its just serendipitous that its Lester instead of random AAA call up. How isn't this extra rest? It's the literal definition of extra rest, they are getting an extra 1-2 days off between starts.
  9. Not understanding the Tanaka love, especially given the questionable elbow. I'm leery of the elbow personally, but he's the youngest of the TOR options (Otani not included) and if we sign him to a big deal I trust the FO did their due diligence to feel the elbow thing isn't an issue/is treatable (maybe it's like the Lester bone spur) and there's no extra risk outside of the inherent risk of being a pitcher.
  10. We have 10 games until our next scheduled off day and then another scheduled off day 6 games after that. So if we let Monty go one more time and then bring Lester back, with those off days, I think that would roughly give everyone an extra day off between starts the next 2-3 times through the rotation going forward before the last stretch of games in September/October. My math may be slightly off but think it's roughly right. Looks like this is happening, good to get everyone (not just Lester) a little extra rest.
  11. I too typically really look at the BB/K numbers when looking at box scores and generally agree with this. A few things though, Nova has the 2nd lowest BB/9 in the league. He hasn't walked more than 3 guys in a start all year and he's had more 0 walk games (9) than 2+ walk games (8). It could have all been part of the plan of attack to swing early and often tonight. Also once we put up that 7 spot in the 5th it seemed like guys were mostly going up and swinging at the first thing close to get the game over with (and also I'm sure it's some violation of an unwritten rule to be looking for walks up 10+ in games).

  13. Happ is already good, but man if he can improve that discipling by a touch he could be ridiculous
  14. Pretty much. He's hitting 94. Struck out first batter, then Gatorade boy blooped one in, in front of Heyward then McCutchen hit one back off him not overly hard that Happ could've fielded if it doesn't hit him but instead it took a bad bounce and nobody got out, then he K'd Bell, gave up a hard hit to Freese for a run then the 2 0-2 HBPs. More bad luck/sequencing for him mostly
  15. Kind of a weird time to complain about this, allowed a bloop hit and a ground ball that hit him that could've been fielded if it doesn't hit him or gets a little lucky on the bounce
  16. what the hell? they had a day game today? i don't know why that's so strange to me but it is. It was the 2nd time in the last month the Brewers have had a day game in the middle of the week that also was a 2 game scheduled series (Pirates and now Cardinals) definitely odd.
  17. It is dumb, just figured the bottom to top in the players teams league who cut him first was relative common knowledge
  18. yeah, i'd have to think even if the non contenders are out, either one of the AL wild card contenders would take him or the brewers/cards just to keep him from us. I expect Some to not know how waivers work but not you David, not you. For shame
  19. I know he's not much, if anything, of a prospect but keep this man in the organization even if it's as a coach or bullpen catcher
