  1. Assuming his medicals aren’t complete horsefeathers I’d rather have Price (with maybe $10-25 mil thrown in) than Darvish at that deal. If we wouldn’t have to give up a lot for him.
  2. Agree, this is my preferred route if that’s where the market roughly goes for those 2nd/3rd tier contracts
  3. The only time I ever do is when I’m gambling with buddies and we are playing a dice or card game or like darts or pool at someone’s house to keep track of winners or something.
  4. With the draft pick assigned and also the other things around Arrieta (shorter track record, non-traditional motion, smaller body of work/success for the contract he’s commanding, feeling the Cubs have a “secret sauce” for him that might not transfer) I honestly think he’s going to have a very limited market.
  5. Yup, I’d rather sign Shaw and Oh for under 4 years each and probably for under $36 mil total for the 2 combined. If we are going 4 years on a RP Wade is the only guy I’d do it for and even then it would be a tougher sell. I’d rather do Wade at like 4/55-60 than Reed at 4/36-40.
  6. Agree, I’d rather pay Cobb or Arrieta for their lower prices.
  7. It's not an addition 5 years, is it? Just added to the contract?
  8. Did he say something? weird, he deleted it...it was just a tweet with a bunch of laughing smilies that came right as the game ended He has this up now.... someone must have told him to take it down. Seemed harmless, just a bunch of the crying/laughing emojis like you said https://twitter.com/WContreras40/status/925941212523134976
  9. Good for the Astros a lot of very likable dudes (other than Yuriel)
  10. Just because every other sport does it why should MLB? Why is it a problem? How does changing things make the game better (probably makes it worse, more wild pitches/cross ups)?
  11. Limiting mound visits is a contrived solution to a contrived problem that doesn’t exist/won’t make a difference (length of games keeping viewers away). Mound visits 90%+ of the time serve a real purpose and are necessary
  12. I thought every single Cub from this years playoff team had the record based on the reaction/comments from the media and stupid fans after the NLCS ended?
  13. I’ve probably done it both ways but I voted top left to bottom right because that’s probably my first instinct
  14. Almora and McCann might be the only two guys who get thrown out there.
  15. Probably. We likely have the best guy (Bryant) and more quantity with nearly as much upside as a guy vs guy breakdown plus we have Willy at one of the 3 most premium spots when they don’t have a catcher. probably not or probably? Probably would take our core*
  16. Would you take the Cubs cover over theirs? Probably. We likely have the best guy (Bryant) and more quantity with nearly as much upside as a guy vs guy breakdown plus we have Willy at one of the 3 most premium spots when they don’t have a catcher.
  17. I’m kinda really intrigued with Liriano for our pen next year in more of a Miller role than a LOOGY role
  18. They lost by 17 to the Pacers at home tonight. They might not be good.
  19. I mentioned this in another thread, but think Lester money, maybe a bit more. I think he gets closer to Cueto’s deal than Lester’s deal.
  20. I want to see Kershaw come in next inning and get bombed now
  21. This HP ump, whoever he is, I can’t stand his delayed strikes calls. It’s the worst, if the mic doesn’t pic up on what he verbally calls you have no idea if a close pitch is a ball/strike for a few seconds after the pitch because he takes so long to call a strike. I hate watching games he calls.
  22. I want little to no part of any pitcher from that god forsaken pitching staff. Especially one who had that thoracic outlet surgery. He’d have to be essentially free and even then we better have backup options and he shouldn’t be counted on.
  23. I have to think Davis is an option if only because he's the most surefire FA option(along with the validation that the FO traded for him and he had a great year). The last 18 months or so have illustrated the value they place in having a lockdown closer at the end of the pen, and while there are paths to that outcome that don't include huge outlays, I don't think they're going to gamble on depth surfacing a great option. The stakes are too high for this group to leave that to chance if they can help it. They've already traded for that guy once and they could again(I mentioned Hand, but there's other options of varying quality like Robertson, Herrera, Colome, maybe Britton/Brach) so Davis isn't even the most likely option, but I have to think he's very seriously being considered. I agree you can’t risk it by trying to find next years Morrow, Swarzak, etc. because you’re going to fail more times than not going that route and we can’t do that in the window we are in. I’m very much in the camp of bringing Davis back. Having a known commodity at the back end is huge and he’s the clear best FA option, imo. Barring some ridiculous contract (more than 4 years and 70 mil) I’m all for bringing him back.
