  1. Cool! I read it as they can dip into their 2018-19 pool money but that their restrictions would still be in place until July 2nd. But you're saying that with these specific players released from the Braves, their current restrictions don't apply, is that accurate? Yeah, from everything that's out there, if we wanted to drop 3 mill on Maitan, we can do it. We should do this
  2. I think we are all set now with coaches and replacing the FO loss(es)?? [tweet] [/tweet]
  3. What the Braves did was really bad and they deserve this punishment, but they only broke "MLB Rules" right? How didn't the Cardinals get a harsher punishment if they broke actual federal laws and MLB Rules? Was it because what the Braves did was easier to track/systemic in the organization and they couldn't pin enough of what the Cardinals did throughout the organization?
  4. Wow that’s a lot of guys, starting to think the Braves FO killed a guy or something
  5. Man I hope we are able to get one or two of these guys
  6. Annnnnnd they stopped negotiating tonight and extended the deadline until tomorrow.......
  7. Couldn’t find the old 40-man thread (thought we had one). Anyways should hear a few things tonight and tomorrow on who was added/left off.
  8. Bobby Wahl was released by the A’s, he’s put up some pretty big K numbers in the minors (tho SSS in some cases) he was up for 7 innings last year and his Fb averaged 95 and looks like a primarily FB/Slider pitcher with a occasional curve and changeup. As a minor league depth bullpen guy he’s worth looking at, imo.
  9. Is his arm completely broken or what? If it’s not he’d be a nice reclamation try even though his numbers suck. I think his stuff is still really good when he’s on.

  11. Wisconsin just isn't very good, I really want to see them lose just because them getting in the playoffs is going to leave out a better team.
  12. Law wrote this about Hellickson in his "FA Bargain" article, as a 1 year buy low guy for our 2nd or 3rd SP addition to get reunited with Hickey to try and re-find the changeup he intrigues me....
  13. From left to right.... Miggy, Hendricks, Schwarber, Travis Wood, Grimm, Borzello, Jake, Happ, Lackey. Don’t know what that group is doing together other than I saw someone say they think it’s Hendricks wedding this weekend. I’m sure David can let us know when he sees this what the occasion is.
  14. I was a big Tony Thomas fan back in the day, I too had high hopes for him.
  15. The Giants made an offer for Stanton and are willing to take on a good chunk of his contract according to Rosenthal

  17. If it’s the whole contract I wouldn’t give up any of the Baez/Russell/Happ/Schwarber/Almora group. I’d give up like Monty and Caritini or Zagunis or some minor leaguers (non Alzolay/Ademan types). If it’s the whole contact and they want 1 of Happ/Almora/Baez (Schwarber and Russell would be a no for me still) I’d want Yelich back with him as well.
  18. Just a hypothetical, what would Hendricks bring back in the current market? Like could he get another teams Russell or Benintendi?

  20. Stanton to the Dodgers keeps them out of the Harper sweepstakes next year most likely
  21. I almost wonder if Montgomery would be the guy here. The Orioles can still put up a facade of competitiveness since they have Brach and Givens at the end of the pen, and Montgomery would definitely have a home in that rotation. The Cubs lose out on his swingman abilities, but they don't need him as a true LHRP with Britton and Wilson(plus Edwards's splits), and they could more confidently dive into the bottom of the SP FA/trade market knowing that they have that role open if they luck into someone better. I kind of was wondering if Monty for Britton would be a thing when this first came up but didn't mention it. It makes sense for both teams, Orioles want some SP (for cheap I believe) and you laid out the reasons Monty isn't a huge need if Britton is acquired. Also I could see us having soured a bit on Monty this year, I think some of it was due to him being jerked around and never getting in a real role, but I could see the FO not liking the wildness out of him on top of Theo's comments about getting less wild. It makes a good amount of sense, IMO.
  22. If it is just Britton (if it's a larger deal, Gausmen, Bundy, etc. I'd get it) I'd be pretty surprised and upset if it's any of the rumored guys from the ML roster going for him, especially this early in the offseason.
  23. Yeah bring em on, these are the best/worst part of this time of year
  24. Archer scares me that he only throws two pitches and if/when his FB velo dips how effective he can be.
