  1. I don’t think it was a designed run, it was a pass play he had to scramble on in the red zone. I will say though watching them play a few times this year it did seem like Wentz put himself in bad spots a few times a game to take unnecessary hits by not sliding and deciding to get some extra yards kinda reminded me of Luck and Cam how it always seems like they just didn’t know how to take a hit quite right or when self-preservation was smarter than a few yards as a franchise QB.
  2. I think there’s a chance we still bring him back, I thought I saw we were planning on meeting with him/his agent this week at the meetings. If that Melancon level deal never materializes for him and he can be had for 2 years at a high aav (2/30 with an option for like $15 mil/buyout for $3-5 and it vests with a IP threshold) or 3 years around $40 million I assume we’d be in on bringing him back.
  3. Kintzler is a bum, imo. I’d rather go after someone with actual good stuff even if they aren’t a “closer”
  4. [tweet] [/tweet]
  5. Or to give a more recent example and with ties to our new hitting coach, getting somewhere “straight up” like Jackie Bradley Jr would be something I’d like to see. http://m.mlb.com/assets/images/3/4/0/179082340/cuts/JBJ_Stances_Better_8himpdmd_nge9rhdk.jpg
  6. Any truth to the rumor that every liquor store within a 60 mile radius of Disney ran out of Jager within an hour of Theo's arrival?
  7. This is setting up for Rodgers to come back this week, win out and make a Super Bowl run having to go through Nick Foles and Case Keenum, isn't it?
  8. Since he's come here and sucked offensively I thought he should almost change his stance be more of what Derrek Lee did. Get way more straight up and not so crouched and incorporate a bigger leg kick. They are both really tall (for a baseball player) and long, athletic guys and that more straight up stance with a leg kick would seem to help using the leverage they can create instead of being crouched down and using basically all arms like Heyward does. I should add I know next to nothing but I always loved Lee's swing and stance.
  9. I feel fairly confident we will get at least JBJ level production (2.5-3+ WAR) out of CF this year with the Almora/Happ/Heyward/maybe a FA rotation. Don’t think he makes us any better.
  10. Fair enough. If we got Starlin back I’d do it but if it’s a 3 team deal I probably wouldn’t now that I think of it. I’d send them Almora or Happ and Seal boy with Starlin going to a 3rd team and us getting Yelich. With some other ancillary pieces involved all around and maybe another Marlins contract as well. Maybe something like...... Mets get: Starlin and Ziegler Cubs get: Yelich and Volquez Marlins get: Almora/Happ, LaStella, Nimmo and maybe some minor leaguers That would clear between $30-35 million from the Marlins payroll this year plus Starlin and Yelich long-term on top of it. They get two young, cheap, position players that can play the OF to replace Yelich and Stanton and a 2B to replace Gordon/Starlin and probably would get some minor leaguers too.
  11. Yeah I didn’t get that and said basically the same thing out loud, doesn’t make sense to me
  12. Good God, why? Starlin isn't good. Because he'd presumably be part of a package deal with Yelich since the Marlins are trying to dump salary. I’d be down for something centered around Javy for Starlin and Yelich. Or some sort of 3-team trade where Javy ends up in Miami, we end up with Yelich and Starlin ends up on a 3rd team.
  13. At least he’s trying... Swing looks basically the same to me though
  14. He’s a perfectly fine player, but he is more of a nice complimentary player than a middle of the order anchor they need/want and will be costly in terms of acquisition cost and is another example of them not getting a player they really want/need and have to settle for a player a tier or 2 below what they were going for. Ok, fair enough. I guess most consider him unlikely to reproduce last season’s output? More or less, yes. I see him more as a low-mid 20s HR .260-270/.310-.325/.435-.450 type guy he’s been most of his career and not the 35+HR and .030-.050+ points higher across the board on the triple slash line he was last year. Along with averagish defense in CF and above average in the corners. Again a perfectly fine player but not a lineup anchor, necessarily.
  15. What am I missing in Ozuna that has people so down on him? He’s a perfectly fine player, but he is more of a nice complimentary player than a middle of the order anchor they need/want and will be costly in terms of acquisition cost and is another example of them not getting a player they really want/need and have to settle for a player a tier or 2 below what they were going for.
  16. This would help them reach their 77-85 win mediocrity hell they seem fine to be in [tweet] [/tweet]
  17. They have to to be one of the worst front offices in all of sports, not even just MLB.
  18. Joel Sherman was just on MLBN and said Cobb was in Chicago last week to meet with us, haven’t heard or seen that anywhere.
  19. Man, everyone seems to think Cobb next is almost a formality. Maybe it is but I also wonder if Theo/FO are using it as a smokescreen for some other move for a SP (Darvish, Archer, something else?) seems odd how everyone just thinks Cobb next is likely.
  20. Maybe see how he looks in ST and he gets a bullpen or 6th starter spot (if we go that route) to start the year since theres a few guys going for the last spot or 2 in the bullpen who have options. If he sucks in ST he's cut/traded. Doubt he brings much back or else maybe he's included in a deal we trade for a SP as a ancillary piece.
  21. I really wonder if they're going to overload the rotation and play games with the 10 day DL this year since the Dodgers got away with it last year. But that would mean they'd have to have at least one guy who could be optioned. Starting to wonder this as well and go with a 13-man staff. 6-man rotation of Lester/Hendricks/Q/Cobb/Chatwood/Monty bullpen of Morrow/Carl/Strop/Wilson/FA (Mcgee/Nicasio/Neshek/Oh)/then revolving door of the last 2 spots in bullpen between Grimm/Maples/Zas/Tseng/FA or Trade guy with options/etc.
  22. There’s probably like a dozen guys I prefer to him
  23. Trying to get below the LT this year? Is that even possible or are they blown by it? They also have a billion pitching options in house already (of varying health and effectiveness).
  24. Because the Cubs have too many outfielders with last names that start with H, but not enough relievers like that. I’m not a fan of that trade, would rather just spend money on the final bullpen spot. If you’re looking for a Hand type guy I think Liriano is really interesting in that spot as a gamble or else sign one of Reed, Nicasio, or McGee for that final spot who value wise are close to Hand (especially when we have half a dozen other good relief options) and can be had for just money.
  25. I like the “could close” mention here. I still wouldn’t mind Wade back. Glad it doesn’t seem like we guaranteed him the closer spot.
