  1. They really didn’t have a chance short of getting crazy hot like they did. We were at 70%+ at the division for a good amount of time now (think we even hit over 90% at one point). They aren’t the better team and I’ll die on that hill, let them have this year I guess. They still suck and are nothing to worry about long term.
  2. I think the blinking and squinting is just a thing he does to make sure his eyes are opened as much as possible before a pitch, it might even be a subconscious/routine thing st this point. I remember a coach telling the team to do something similar in between pitches when I played to make sure “your eyes were open before a pitch.” It sounds dumb but I get the theory.
  3. Just horsefeathering miss it so we get Theo on tilt this offseason
  4. Oh hey look a .600 OPS, AAA player doing damage vs us. Nice scouting department
  5. Sounds like the serious stuff is blowing through now and we should be good to get this in, may start in a delay though.
  6. It’s probably more wise to extend Rendon (FA after next year I believe) or even Turner then spend money on SP, RP and some ancillary offensive pieces than to pay Bryce I think. Soto/Robles/Eaton is a fine OF, sign a vet for cheap like Mcutchen or someone to throw in the mix.
  7. If that’s the only line of rain/storms tonight I think we get this in, in some way. Maybe it’s a delayed start or the game hits a delay but if we want to get it in (which I assume we do because we don’t want to do a DH) we likely can.
  8. As long as he doesn’t end up with a surgery, which they have said he doesn’t/won’t need (but Dr Nick and the medical staff really can’t be trusted so who knows) I’m assuming rest and maybe a tweak in his strength/training program is really all it will take to get MVP level KB back. Kind of like Zobrists wrist last year.
  9. Yeah, he might get there differently than we want/expect but I still think he’s a ~.900 OPS player moving forward starting next year. Maybe more in line with 2017 Bryant, which is fine.
  10. I agree with most of this but there's a big gap between taking a position on something and saying what he said, he's just being willingly ignorant and obtuse. Like I mentioned above the bare minimum and easiest thing to do is at least go with a canned PR 101 statement that he has to of been given/talked about with by someone above him.
  11. Holy horsefeathers Joe, you don't always "need to have your players backs" or whatever he thinks he's doing. How can he be so obtuse to not, at the bare minimum, go with some PR 101 line that Theo or Ricketts almost surely gave him along the lines of "it's a serious allegation and the truth needs to be found and we stand by MLB's decision to take this over and look in to it" or whatever some of their quotes were Friday that again are the bare minimum but at least not completely showing your ass.
  12. Yeah we need the 2 game L column lead at minimum going in to the weekend, imo. Can’t be depending on Tigers win(s)/sweeping the Cardinals. We should really win these next 3 games and take care of business ourselves and not depend on the stupid cardinals for help.
  13. The HP ump made some absolute garbage ball/strike calls in the last inning of the VBs/cardinals game all in the VBs favor
  14. Yup up to that HBP in Colorado he was on his way to putting up his best year yet.
  15. Yeah the offense is so disappointing after all the resources we spent on it over the last several years. I am completely dumbfounded that we can hit as poorly as we have over a 2.5 month span. Bryant’s injury plays a big part I get it but overall they just aren’t hitting. Strange thing is we’ve seen a breakout year by Javy, Rizzo has been Rizzo save the first 6 weeks of the year, Zobrist has had a bounce back season, Heywards numbers overall have improved over 16 and 17, Schwarber has put up solid numbers overall. I guess what’s killing is huge regressions by Willson, whatever is turning Bryant from a .900 OPS hitter to a .750 OPS hitter and lack of development/regression by Happ and Almora Seems like we aren’t getting all the right guys in the lineup at the same time and clicking either because of injuries that we’ve had to do suboptimal things because of it. I don’t think we’ve had a lot of lineups that included Zobrist/Javy/Rizzo/KB/Heyward/Schwarbs because one seemed to always be hurt outside of Javy.
  16. Definitely. The perception that this team isn’t good or collapsing or blowing something is largely due to never having a huge lead this year and the Brewers and Cardinals (to a lesser degree) sticking around so long and playing good baseball too.
  17. This makes no sense If the Cubs blow the division, it's more than likely their own doing. I don't want to see the Cardinals in the playoffs. Well “blowing the division” takes the Brewers winning, so let’s not cheer for that to happen
