  1. Now if only Selig can follow...
  2. With the type of approach Vitters has I expect him to be extremely streaky at the plate. I am not to worried it comes with the territory of players who have approaches like Vitters. It's tough to stay consistently hot when you are talking literally zero BB and either always putting the ball in play or striking out.
  3. Fontenot or Miles probably don't make that play
  4. Soto's gotta take charge there. That's his ball the whole way.
  5. I'd be willing to bet on that team going up against any team, from any league, from any era, in the history of baseball.
  6. So I plan on making the trip up to appleton this week thursday which is day after my 21st b-day and they have dollar beer nights on Thursdays up there, I live about 1 hour away. I got a few questions. How accessible are single A guys? I would love to get Vitters autograph. Anybody know who is scheduled to pitch? Also anyone else planning on heading up for any of the games Thurs.-Sun.?
  7. Might as well have Blanco try to steal here with Miles up and try to make something happen
  8. I really hope we see Fox-Soto-Soriano. Soriano was pulled in a DS, Guzman is in his spot. Its: Miles Guz Theriot next inning I really wouldn't be surprised at all to see Z pinch hit for Guz
  9. Has anyone maybe considered the fact he hasn't been playing as much over the last few weeks, due to the platoon, as a reason for regression? Baseball players are guys that like to stay orderly and on schedule and when you are in a platoon it might be hard to get in or out of a funk as playing time can be prolonged or spotty at times. To start the year we faced virtually no LH pitchers and Kosuke was starting almost everyday for a month 1/2 and Reed was seeing spot starts with limited pinch hitting roles. Now it seems we have faced more lefties within the last month or so and Kosuke is playing less, it's a possibility he has gotten out of the groove he was in early in the season as his starts/ab's haven't been as frequent lately. Just a thought.
  10. I know there was that speculation of moving Soriano back to 2B, but was it just talk? Or have they at least been hitting him grounders there and working him out? I would think with a move like that, they would be working him out there for a week or so before making a decision about actually implementing it in a game.
  11. I think Harden or Lilly (with maybe Gregg or Heilman along with one of them) would be a interesting package to float to the Rangers or Angels. They both have legit chances to win their division and are going to need pitching at some point, because Millwood and Jennings won't continue to be sub 3 era pitchers for the Rangers and the Angels are pitching starved. The Rangers have a top 3 minor league system so there is talent to be had there, the Angels don't have a great system, but they have guys who have been top prospects who haven't produced yet at the ML level. I would love to see Hendry do a Harden/Lilly plus a player or two for Kendrick, as it seems he has fallen out of favor in LA and might be able to be had.
  12. The biggest coaching change I could see happening would probably be to fire Perry (don't think he deserves it, but he's probably the guy that's the highest up in the coaching ranks that has a chance to get fired). Lou just go his extension and I don't see a move as drastic as firing him as a possibility. Larry is fine, he is a top 3 pitching coach and the rotation has been really good, the bullpen has been real bad but I think that's more of the talent we got down there than it is anything Larry can change/has changed. Trammel isn't going anywhere. Maybe a guy like Sinatro or Quade gets bounced just for the sake of making a move. I don't see any sort of major trade happening. Is there a chance Ryno might get promoted to some sort of bench role?
  13. that sucks, hope he is okay. vitters is 0-1; he was bumped from 3rd to 5th in the lineup. daytona was (shockingly) postponed. He's in a pretty bad slump over the last 10+ games. In his last 10 games he only has 4 H in 29 ab's and only 2 BB, to go with 2 K's. The thing (probably the only thing) I don't like about Vitters is that he doesn't BB much (barely at all) and K's at an average rate (so he does put the majority of balls in play) and he is going to have to maintain a relatively high BABIP to have success. For June he's putting up a line of .143/.238/.200 with 2BB 3K's in 35 ab's. When is the ASB break for him? Looks like he could use a little bit of a break. There isn't any chance that he might be hurt is there? He does get HBP a lot so it's possible he is at least nursing a minor injury.
  14. I just figured it gave him more torque in his backswing and is something he wouldn't typically use during a game. His movement before the swing looks awful similar to Brad Hawpe. Looks like he has an awful "long" swing and against advanced pitching he should get picked apart with a swing like that.
  15. This is the part that has me intrigued. I'd love to add Pedro if he's throwing that well. And if he is only going to be out there for 1, 2, innings max (assuming we would use him in the bullpen). He should be able to keep his FB in the low/mid 90's and his breaking stuff should be a bit crisper. I think he could at least be an adequate 7/8 inning reliever if not a above average closer.
  16. I would really like to know what those "workouts" were that the Cubs staff put Bradley through before signing him. If they were as thorough and tough as they said I don't see how he didn't need a stretcher and/or wheel chair to get off the field after going through them.
  17. I would be shocked if we don't see a steal/hit and run here
  18. Z's going to have to throw a side session after the game at this pace, in order to get his work in.
