  1. Probably after Delgado, Beltran, Reyes, Wagner, Putz get back and they trade for Holiday.
  2. Unless harden has a quick 6th looks like we are looking at 3 innings of the bullpen tonight :yahoo:
  3. Rich needs to get focused here. I can already tell I am going to dislike McCutchen for years.
  4. So how much more advanced is class A Daytona than Peoria? If Vitters does well enough we should see him in AA by this time next year hopefully.
  5. So does that mean we could get him back this weekend?
  6. Seriously, its pretty hard times, although Pitt's unemployment is only about 7%. The team hasn't won in forever. Good job by Len saying their attendance is up I don't care what the unemployment rate is, standard of living, metro area, population, average income, etc. When you consistently put out the type of product that the Pirates do every year you just aren't going to draw fans.
  7. Where has this Harden been all year? I know it's the Pirates, but his stuff looks much crisper and he's locating his pitchers a lot better.
  8. I could be wrong, but hasn't he always been pretty good with the glove?
  9. So how long until Fuld does something marginally average and people start calling for him to start everyday and lead off?
  10. These two teams realized how much they suck, so they decided to try to play the fastest 9 inning game ever.
  11. Harden is way overdue for a start similar to the ones he had last year for us
  12. Didn't think it deserved its own thread, but apparently Brandon Webb will seek 3 additional opinions on his shoulder this week. Sounds like he could be out for some time and it's in serious doubt if he can ever be as effective as he used to be. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=5455
  13. I am pretty sure Lou wanted Ibanez, I remember there being article(s) during the winter meetings with Lou giving praises to Ibanez about how "professional" he was and that he really liked him.
  14. At least we got Patton :D
  15. We are more than 1 player away from turning this [expletive] show around. The only type of trade I would approve of is if we started trading off assets like we were GM.
  16. My reasoning is it's obvious this team isn't good enough to win the WS/in the playoffs, so why not sell? We have contracts starting to balloon and if we can move a guy or two it gives us some flexibility in FA next year and on the trade market. We should also be able to get talent back for Harden, Lilly, Gregg, Lee, etc. So we shed some payroll and add some depth to the farm or guys who can help us at the major league level. Like I said Lilly probably has a much value as he ever will have on the trade market right now given his success this year, contract, and low amount of talented pitchers available. I don't think we could get much for Harden right now, but closer to the deadline we should be able to get something for him as a team(s) will get more desperate and he has time to improve/prove he's healthy. Teams are always looking for BP help and Gregg/Heilman would probably be attractive to someone. Johnson could be of value for a team that needs a 4th OF/RH bat that hits LH pitching well. Lee has proven he still has something in the tank and if he would accept a trade there are multiple teams that would be interested (Mets, Angels, Giants, Braves).
  17. Which guy should we sell? Remembering that pretty much everyguy has a no trade clause. Marmol, Lilly, Harden, Johnson (if he's healthy), Heilman, Gregg, Lee if he would wave his NTC. I would agree with all but the first two; Marmol despite his control problems is too valuable of an asset to get rid of, and if we get rid of Lilly and Harden who's left to start? Who cares? We could get some sort of young pitching for them Lilly is at his peak value right now and if you look at the trade market right now for top pitchers Lilly is probably close to being the best available with injuries to a lot of guys.
  18. Which guy should we sell? Remembering that pretty much everyguy has a no trade clause. Marmol, Lilly, Harden, Johnson (if he's healthy), Heilman, Gregg, Lee if he would wave his NTC.
  19. game over
  20. Suppan really struggling today, he was bound to come back down to earth after pitching well for the last month or so
