  1. Hopefully Hendry and the FO can do some convincing to Lee and get him to waive his NTC. A lot of teams injuries at 1B (Red Sox, Phillies, Rays) and others need another bat and could make room for him the Angels, Tigers (move Cabrera to DH or Lee to DH). We could get a decent return for him probably.
  2. What a horse [expletive] trade for the Astros. If they aren't going to get a top prospect in return, keep him and offer arbitration in the offseason and get pick(s).
  3. Only way we should kick in the $4m is if we get an extra player or a better prospect.
  4. If it allowed them to afford Halladay, it's hardly been a dumb move. But now they are trading for another starting pitcher who isn't as good but costs more and giving up more players. I didn't at the time and still don't buy that they traded Lee for financial reasons also the Lee trade didn't impact the Halladay trade in terms of needing more prospects to complete the Halladay deal. He doesn't cost more if Houston is picking up some of the tab. They are throwing in less than $12m he is still owed some of the $15m on his contract for this year, he makes $16m next year, and he's been requesting and demanding that his $16m option for 2012 gets exercised in any trade. Cliff Lee made $5.75m this year.

  6. Trading Cliff Lee really turned out be such a smart move for the Phillies
  7. Would have been a good night to get Baker in there vs. the LHP for Theriot
  8. Yea after listening to him tonight, I think its pretty obvious he wants the job next year Lord, please, yes. Agreed. How old is Valentine? I am very intrigued by the idea of him managing us next year
  9. I think I remember reading a article from earlier this year saying that his velo was down by a MPH or two, no idea if he has gotten it back or is still throwing a little slower than in the past.
  10. Just a minor point, which shouldn't detract from how well Castro is doing, but isn't Furcal still a SS? He's listed as having the highest OPS of any regular SS in baseball. I do find it interesting that in terms of OPS, the top 7 SS in baseball are all in the NL (with Alex Gonzalez now in ATL). Furcal, Tulo, Hanley, Gonzalez, Castro, Uribe and Drew. Cliff Pennington is now at the top of the AL SS and is #8 overall, #2(#9) if you count Jason Donald from CLE. Furcal has spent some time on the DL this year, maybe he doesn't have enough ab's to qualify?
  11. If somehow Hill gets a chance to bat here, Soto sure as [expletive] should be pinch hitting for him
  12. I like the strong possibility of the always exciting walk off walk coming up.
  13. Koye Hill is so [expletive] useless. You know had Soto been up there in Hill's situation, Lou probably would have pinch hit Hill for Soto to sacrifice bunt. But when there is a 1-0 count to Hill with a RISP it probably never crossed Lou's mind to pinch hit Soto for Hill there.
  14. Would be good for the Rays. Another slugger for the middle of their order and they have plenty of prospects so unloading a few wouldn't crush them. I could see something like Werth and a prospect/cash to the Rays, Davis, Brignac, Kendrick/Mayberry Jr. to the Astros and Oswalt and either Lindstrom or Lyon to the Phillies.
  15. I am fine with overpaying Ramirez a little at $14m for next year if it means we don't rush Vitters. Which I doubt because he hasn't given us a real reason to believe he will be ready by next year, even though I think he will be ready within the next 2 1/2-3 years. I would much rather we just have Ramirez for next year at $14m and figure out 3B in 2012 than give a guy like Cantu, Huff, or Wiggington a multi year deal.
  16. They never should have traded Lee to begin with
  17. :oldbluekoolaid:
  18. Clearly he isn't a very good pitcher then..
  19. I like Wells and Ramirez, I'll go with Wells.
  20. You play in an AL West only league? Going from Safeco to Yankee stadium as a lefty? From the AL West to the AL East? Significant Meh, it's mostly offset by having a competent team around him to get some wins. That and the fact he is a really good pitcher and that he is still going to be a top 10 pitcher regardless of what ballpark he pitches in.
  21. Lilly's value just got increased and I am glad the Yankees got Lee, hopefully we can get the Rangers, Mets, or Dodgers to overpay for him. They all have some intriguing prospects/young guys.
