  1. Wow, looks like Seattle will be tied at worst going into half
  2. Well that was quite the sequence of plays in the Uconn-Texas game
  3. Highly doubt this is true, from some blog. But this guy says the pitching prospect coming to the Cubs is either Matt Moore, Alex Torres, or Braulio Lara. http://cubsrumorsandnews.blogspot.com/2011/01/cubs-trade-for-matt-garza.html No way I see Moore coming over
  4. Wish we still had Rothschild around for Garza. Sounds like he has great stuff, but seems like he could use some refining to take the step from a good #2-3 to an ace.
  5. Why?!? This is so [expletive] stupid if true on so many levels. We don't need a LH bat or to commit $2m+ to a league average, at best, player. Would rather have any of Scott Hairston, Lastings Milledge, or Reed Johnson
  6. Z Garza Dempster Gorzo Wells or Silva I don't see how we don't go with that unless there are injuries (Silva) or trades (Wells/Gorzo)
  7. Garza threw a no-hitter last year guys. Only great pitchers do that! That's why Hendry had to give up 3 of our top 10-15 prospects
  8. Seems like a fair deal. What was the offer Uggla turned down from FLA before being traded? Or was he never offered a contract and was just asking for parameters of a deal? Pretty sure I heard higher figures than this.
  9. If he has another terrible year offensively or doesn't show development any chance they try turning Burke into a pitcher?
  10. Go to sleep MSU
  11. He bats righty. I would think that helps his chances of making the team. If we do carry 5 OF, it would make more sense if the 5th was RH.
  12. Does Guyer bat left or right handed?
  13. Fisher isn't any more done than he was a year ago. A bigger problem is that Artest has been hot garbage all season long. Besides Game Seven of the Finals, he's been garbage since he's been there. Not a good fit for the triangle. Throw Bynum and Artest at the Nuggets for Melo, and see what you get. Got to be better than whatever the Nets/Knicks can give. Artest was meh last year, but at least he was plus defensively to offset his medicore offensive game. This year, he doesn't even have that: he's been pretty abusable on the defensive end and a black hole on offense. Dropping off Bynum doesn't help the problem of Gasol wearing down playing all the minutes at C, and why would the Nuggets want Artest? It would at least give them a "name" guy to keep some fans interested in the team. Even though you can get the same entertainment out of watching Artest play as you can if stop by your local YMCA for men's league noon-ball on a weekday.
  14. I just looked up his stats on ESPN, he hasn't had one single fumble all year. I knew he improved his ball security, but I didn't know he had no fumbles all year.
  15. So what are the Yankees going to do now? Grienke trade? They don't have the best package to compete if most of the rumored teams get involved.
  16. I challenge anybody to name a better one. Prior, Wood, Zambrano, Clement, Maddux Too Soon [-X
  17. Halladay/Lee/Oswalt/Hamels/Anyone That might possibly be the best rotation in the modern baseball era.
  18. If Hendry is really considering trading one or multiple of Lee, B/J Jackson, Archer, McNutt, or Carpenter he shouldn't be looking at trading for Garza he should be looking at a trade for someone like Grienke, King Felix, Hanley, Josh Johnson, or Cain. Not that all or any of those guys are available but those are the type of guys that should be considered giving up multiple of our top 5 prospects.
  19. I agree, Dempster, Baker, Byrd, Fukudome, Gorzo/Wells, Pena, whatever SP we add (Webb, Garza, etc.) are all guys who could be very appealing to teams around the deadline if we are out of it and we could get some good prospects back assuming all those guys are having at least career average years.
  20. That touchdown as time expired swung the line. It was Colts -2.5. Every guy who bet on this game just got fucked over or bailed out.
  21. Castro SS Soto C Pena 1B Ramirez 3B Byrd CF/Soriano LF (Whoever is hitting better/matchups) Fukudome/Colvin RF Soriano LF/Byrd CF (Whoever is hitting worse/matchups) Dewitt/Baker 2B I think that is our best lineup going into the year
  22. Byrd should bat 5th or 7th for the most part IMO, maybe 2nd once in a while. Assuming we don't add/subtract any offensive players the rest of the year the lineup I like most is Castro SS Soto C Pena 1B Ramirez 3B Byrd CF/Soriano LF Fukudome RF Soriano LF/Byrd CF Dewitt/Baker 2B.
  23. That lineup is incredible. They are going after Russell Martin also, even though he's been a sub .700 OPS player the last two years he's only a few seasons removed from a .780, .790, and .840 OPS.
