  1. Ugh, the Cubs have been the epitome of a .500 team so far this year. An offense that puts up decent numbers but nothing great and a starting rotation who has been getting mixed results. I wasn't expecting much more this year, but it still doesn't make it any easier to watch.
  2. LOL, Pena. Another one that is literally on the wall. I almost am starting to feel bad for him.
  3. I got mildly excited seeing Broxton warm up in the pen thinking to myself for a second hey we could get to this guy. Then I realized we don't have a guy that either can or wants to hit a 3-run HR and we aren't stringing 5-6 singles together off him to make up the 3 runs.
  4. What percentage of his ab's have come with nobody on, compared to runners on?
  5. You could probably even throw Samardzija into the mix for as much as he sucks. He's actually had some alright ML starts and couldn't do worse than Russell.
  6. Remember that one time in 2003 in Cincy when he had that really good start down the stretch? Yeah that was cool, good times.
  7. both threw off the mound, and looks like one or both could be ready soon ( i dont remember exactly when, but a week to 10 days is sticking in my head?)I don't know what Len said, but I thought I heard/read somewhere recently that Wells is slightly ahead of Cashner in the rehab progress.
  8. So far yes. Man Pena is so freaking close to getting one out. He has missed 2 homeruns the last 2 days by less than 10 combined feet.
  9. I think Bulls win by 8-10, but it's one of those games where it seems they are up more and it's never really in doubt.
  10. I bet they're all so excited about watching the Hawks get their brains beat in by DR Completely forgot the Hawks and Bulls were playing tonight. I doubt that's much of a factor to the Braves attendance since the Hawks aren't supported much at all and it seems like in general ATL does a terrible job of supporting their pro teams (IDK what kind of support the Falcons get??).
  11. A little off topic, but I have the Brewer v. Brave game in ATL on. There's easily less than 10,000 people at the game.
  12. Sort of off topic, but Lombardi and La Canfora are a huge downgrade from Schefter. I didn't realize how big of a downgrade that actually was until I saw their coverage on NFLN. They should've offered Schefter a blank check to keep him at NFLN when they had the chance. To be fair, Schefter was kind of weak on NFLN. He's really stepped up his game in getting inside info since moving to ESPN. That's not at all how I remember it. I was kind of annoyed when Schefter went to ESPN because he was awesome and I almost always opt for NFLN coverage over ESPN. And, IIRC, for some reason he became a much worse Tweeter after joining ESPN. I forget what story he broke via Twitter that he wasn't supposed to or something. Wasn't that Simmons with the Moss trade?
  13. How soon we forget the great Jose Macias
  14. So are we going to get Baker in the 3 spot tonight again? This will probably be the game Quade puts Soriano 3rd and Kershaw will make him look like a little leaguer and we never see him there again this season.
  15. Matt Lawton? Jody Gerut?
  16. He's tied with Halladay for the lead in pitcher WAR, already better than all of last season. Insane. Yeah, my initial dislike of this trade looks silly. If it wasn't for him being incredibly unlucky in a few starts he would have at least 3 more wins and a ERA under 3. I know those aren't the best two stats to judge a pitcher, but are the most talked about/acknowledged. He is a really good pitcher regardless of what his win total and ERA suggest right now.
  17. Are the Thunder a team that is still a year(s) or a player or two away from being a dominate team, or are they already there now but just have a tendency to play down to the level of their competition?
  18. I understand he isn't hitting, but it could be possible the hand/wrist injury (at least I think that's what it was) that he had early in the year isn't healed yet or flared up?
  19. Cobb is actually at the draft???? Was he a projected first rounder?
  20. So Bowers knee(s) must really be Fucked for him not to get drafted in the first round.
  21. Why is it that when a pitcher stinks.....he's hurt? How about he just blows at the moment? Because pitchers get hurt a lot, and it's a logical conclusion to draw when a typically reliable pitcher falls off of a cliff. That and Dempster has never been this bad for this long in his Cubs tenure as a starter.
  22. LOL, even Gruden was laughing at that pick.
  23. FB with lots of sink on it that runs in the low 90s and a change I believe. The time I caught him last year, he was peaking low 90's, but sitting more upper 80's. That said, no clue as to what he's showing this year. Furthermore, with the sink, as the long as there's action, high 80's is fine. Exactly. As long as he can locate his Sinker well, 87-91 mph is fine. Then if he can consistently throw his Knuckle Curve in the high 70's/low 80's and his Change somewhere around 80-83 he should be fine, assuming he can locate those two pitches well. If he can hit low 90's with a sinker I would think he could throw a 4-seamer at least around 92-94 just for effect when needed.
  24. I am not sure if I am being insensitive here but, doesn't he have a cell phone? Why does he need to be down there to "make sure" his family is ok? Maybe someone is unaccounted for or there was extensive damages to a family members property. If so, I retract my statement and wish the Oswalt family all the best. I had similar first thoughts as you. Here is some info from a ESPN article, maybe a family friend(s)/neighbor(s) died?
  25. Not a bad debut thus far - 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K. Final line was 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3K. I'm tempering my excitement since we're only one month into the season, but is this guy a top ten Cubs prospect at this point? Dare I say top 5? That's far too quick for me. I'd probably sneak him into my top 15 now (admittedly he wasn't in my top 30 to start the season). 29 IP with 28 K and 1 BB between A+ and AA is ridiculous. What type of pitches and velo does Whitnack have? Those are other worldly K/BB numbers.
