  1. Unlike any Cubs pitcher, Sheets actually knows how to strike guys out without giving up a ton of walks. His K/BB ratio is sick (52/4 in 43 1/3 IP)!
  2. why? Because ZZ Top was denied their rightful place in this tournament. :D
  3. And clutch HR's in the NLCS I thought that was vs the Braves (NLDS), or did he hit another? Randall's #s from the 2003 post-season: NLDS: 4 Games, 3/7, 0 HR, 2 RBI, .429 AVG, .429, OBP, .571 SLG NLCS: 6 Games, 5/17, 1 HR, 4 RBI, .294 AVG, .294, OBP, .588 SLG True to his nature, he did not reach base by any other way than a hit.... but he did hit!
  4. We have a correct answer.
  5. Per Rotoworld: Say what you want about Randall Simon, but I will always have fond memories of the guy for his contributions in '03 -- including the 2-run homer that helped give the Cubs a 4-3 lead in the 8th inning of Game 3 of the NLCS.
  6. The oddsmakers in Vegas are stunned with the current results.
  7. Don't be so fast to discount the Doors.... Led Zep is probably in for a bit of a fight I would think.
  8. Doesn't that tie the ML record for doubles in a 9 inning game? Either way, helluva game Matty! =D> =D> =D> =D> And to answer my own question..... Yes -- it does tie a major league record for doubles in a game! Way to go Murton! :D

  10. I wonder if Jones would move to one of the corners? If his defense is indeed declining in CF, it may still be pretty good for Left or Right.... his bat is certainly good enough to be a corner outfielder.
  11. I'd like for the Cubs to find out -- unfortunately, I think re-signing Juan Pierre is more in line with what this front office is trying to do..... which is suck IMO.
  12. "Breakfast with the Beatles" was (is?) a 3 or 4 hour weekly radio program that was dedicated to their songs, their outtakes and alternate takes, other musicians covering their songs, etc. I wouldn't doubt if there were other shows like that throughout the country. Not to mention events such as Beatlefest which celebrate the Beatles. Metallica was my favorite band for several years, I had every album until St. Anger, Master of Puppets and Fade To Black are two of my favorite songs, and I still enjoy listening to them. That said, in my opinion The Beatles are hands-down the better band. Obviously, though, the two bands are quite different and likely attract quite a different fanbase. "Breakfast with the Beatles is still a weekly regular on XRT... a Chicago station that spent an entire broadcast day playing U2's "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" non-stop prior to its release..... Greatness isn't measured in decibels.
  13. Neifi @ 2B again................. J. Pierre cf C. Izturis ss M. Barrett c A. Ramirez 3b J. Jones rf J. Mabry 1b A. Pagan lf N. Perez 2b C. Marmol p
  14. I thought it was obvious that I wasn't being serious -- I was just looking for ex-Marlins that Hendry could add to the club (i.e. Sheffield, Lowell, Encarnacion) to go along with the ex-Marlins we already have (Pierre, Lee).
  15. I really hope Hendry and Wood's agent can come up with a creative deal to keep in a Cubs uniform. I've always liked Kerry and I want to see him succeed again and hopefully that success is with the Cubs.
  16. Ladies and Gentlemen, the 2007 Chicago Marlins! CF Pierre 2B Castillo 1B Lee LF Sheffield 3B Lowell (ARam opts out and signs with Boston, the BoSox turn around and send Lowell to the Cubs for your 3 favorite prospects - left unnamed so you can each imagine the worst case scenario) C Barrett (he'll be back) RF Encarnacion (Jones gets dealt back to the Twins for Castillo, Cubs sign Juan just to make RF worse) SS Izturis (he'll be the everyday SS) The team shocks everyone and makes it all the way to the NLCS, where a $25 million payroll Florida team takes them out as Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera (the only Marlins Hendry doesn't pursue) make like its 2003 and lead a young, talented team to the franchise's 3rd World Series Championship in 10 years.
  17. Uhh.... given the current roster, Murton makes a much better option for the 2-hole. I don't see that changing next year -- Murton will still be a better choice than Neifi or Izturis in 2007 too.
  18. Baker confuses me..... link If OBP is "very, very important", then why bat someone 2nd who doesn't get on base?
  19. Actually, I think I'm going to have to go with Morrison and reward the Doors for ending the run of CCR -- a band that should never have made it passed Radiohead. Sorry Jimi.... "This is the End"
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFoyC5WVxXk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtxZjn2rqys You really can't go wrong with either band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Do6aWuGHMA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXnBxFXu9xg I know - I'm a huge fan of both. I really can't decide on this one.
  21. A team with a 3-4 of Manny and Papi can afford to sacrifice some offense @ SS to improve their defense.
  22. Jimi or Jim? I can't decide - this one is tough. My vote is for sale.
