This seems to be happening a lot when we do lose: Cubs: 1 run on 8 baserunners Pirates: 3 runs on 7 baserunners Of course the Pirates have 2 XBH to the Cubs 0, say it's not crazy bad.
The game Soto tied with a 3 run hr? I was there! I was too except I left with one out in the ninth to beat the crowd to the train. I finished watching it on tv. I also left the cardinals game we came back from 8-0 in 03 right after jd drew hit the grand slam. Those are my two worst early departures. I left last year's Royals/A's wild card game in the 8th. But that was because my wife went into labor.
Honestly, there are a lot of ways to do it that in my opinion are better than what we have now and I would be plenty happy with completely mixing AL/NL. One positive is that any two teams could meet in the World Series.
I had pretty good luck with the lot the Cubs run at 3900 N Rockwell. It's right off Irving Park so accessibility is easy enough, there's always plenty of buses so there's no big wait in the lot or at the park after the game, and the whole thing is free. EDIT: Alternatively you could take the Pace bus from the Schaumburg station near Woodfield if that's close enough to you. I never did it but as long as you can make the departure and have exact change for the fare it's pretty low friction: http://www.pacebus.com/sub/espd/wrigley_field_express.asp Yeah. Often when we go to Cubs games we stay in a hotel in the NW suburbs and use the Rockwell lot. Just be aware that for weekday games they stop running the buses back to the lot 1 hour after the game ends.
Len and JD want to get rid of divisions entirely. I'm not opposed to this, but in general I'm pushing for larger divisions. Thoughts on the drastic idea of getting rid of NL/AL entirely and going to three divisions of 10 teams? Playoff field: 3 divisions winners and 1 Wild Card get LDS berths. 8 more wild cards play a Wild Card round. I'm not rehashing the 1-game vs 3-game argument for the Wild Card round. Pick whichever one you want and assume I said that.
I know a lot of people are going to say that wasn't a bad AB by Hammel, but why is he not taking a strike in that situation? The guy can't find find the zone and the first 6 pitches that AB were balls.
MLB is currently showing Haren on Friday. I don't think it's like ESPN where they project it out. It usually doesn't show up until the manager says something. Most other teams do not have probable pitchers listed for Friday (or at least they didn't yesterday). That puts Lester on Saturday. If we're close to Pittsburgh I would have to think they would move Arrieta to Sunday.
I haven't read the thread, but extremely proud of the Cubs and their plate appearances today. Also, sequencing sucks. 7 of 10 Cubs batters reached in a stretch from the 7th to the 9th and they only scored one run.
Dear Cubs, Um, hi, hello. Uh. You guys have been really fun, and I like when you hit dongs. I also like sweeping the Cardinals. Can we please do both? Starting this inning would be nice. Thanks, Your bestest fan
