  1. You mean we haven't seen what Halladay can do outside the best offensive division in baseball yet? Hope he can adjust to the NL East...
  2. The day would have been perfect, but I won't complain.
  3. Even if New York wins tonight, NY, Dal, and Phi will all be 1 game behind GB. All four teams will have 3 conference losses. Pretty much all three teams would have to at least catch GB and most likely two of them would have to pass GB with the other one tying them to knock the Packers out. Even still the Packers hold the tiebreaker over Dal. Don't forget that Dal and Phi play once more. Also, Dal plays New Orleans and NY plays Minnesota. In short, the Packers are in a very good position even if they lose next week to Pittsburgh. EDIT: Something to keep in mind. If there is a 3-way tie in the East, the Packers are in as long as the Giants or Eagles win the division. Also, if the Giants win tonight, the only way that all three teams could pass the Packers is if the Packers lose their three remaining games since the Eagles play the Cowboys.
  4. That about sums it up. And the schedules too. The schedules were pretty easy for this division.
  5. Oh come on. Protect the ball already.
  6. People are quick to cry racism on NSBB in my prior experiences on this board.
  7. I just hope there isn't any crazy weather to make things a little more even.
  8. Would love for the Eagles to win to give the Packers a possible two-game cushion on the Giants.
  9. $7.5 million for 1 year. Hope the pixie dust doesn't make that $7.5 million well spent.
  10. Trammel can be the Cubs manager for years to come and I wouldn't have a problem with that.
  11. I wouldn't mind seeing them stagger the games where each start time was about 2:15 after the last start time. Most people would get to see the end of every game. This way games would rarely be ending at the same time. Start the games at 2:00 EST if you have four games in one day: 2:00 ET/11:00 PT 4:15 ET/1:15 PT 6:30 ET/3:30 PT 8:45 ET/5:30 PT Worst case scenario: 4 teams from the NL/AL East or 4 teams from the NL/AL West. Schedule could be tweaked for those though. You could even shorten the stagger to 1:45 or 2:00. It would be rare to see two games in innings 6-9 at the same time. Of course extra innings could always change things, but that's what makes baseball beautiful. With 1:45 between game start times: 3:30 ET/12:30 PT 5:15 ET/2:15 PT 7:00 ET/4:00 PT 8:45 ET/5:45 PT People out west could most likely watch the end of 3 games after 5:00. People back east could watch the end of 3 games between 5:00 and 10:00. Most baseball fans who are not fans of the teams playing only watch the last half of the playoff games anyway. I'm pretty sure baseball could set it up where this only happens once during the playoffs anyway without having a lot of off days.
  12. Yeah, I didn't even notice that. Interesting.
  13. For what it's worth, the new MLBPA Union Chief says the players would prefer a 7-game LDS. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb/12/02/weiner.union.ap/index.html
  14. 162 games in a season / 3 games in an average series = 54 "series" in a year. The season is not a set of 51 series, and in no way must there be an odd number of series in a year. I don't think you're following the conversation very well.
  15. One more http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/1296/wrigleylineofsight.jpg
  16. These cannot be permanent. From Bleed Cubbie Blue. http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2009/11/23/1170337/more-photos-of-the-new-bleacher?ref=CBS http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/214872/bleachers112309a_medium.JPG http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/214880/bleachers112309c_medium.JPG http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/214876/bleachers112309b_medium.JPG
  17. Unfortunately, yes. I don't like Selig, but I think he has some interest in what is best for baseball, not just the owners. We may be getting someone worse that Selig.
  18. I've always liked the idea of having seats hang out over the field of play and making the facade in play. However, they need to change the color of that facade. It needs to be a dark color so the ump can clearly see the ball on close calls in that area. I think the stadium and unis look really cool.
  19. This is exactly the conversation I am having with my brother right now. Who cares about the ads? They are just as much a part of baseball history as the rest of the park. We just don't want something that takes away from the game, like a jumbotron. I hate advertisements between innings, but Wrigley already has them on the small screen under the scoreboard.
  20. Rodgers is making some sick passes tonight.
  21. I would like to see a conservative approach. I don't want them to mail it in next year though. I really don't see Holliday going back to St. Louis. The division will be weak. I just don't want them to overextend their bounds in hopes that everything will work out in 2010 (like they have recently).
  22. Simple question. Would you rather the Cubs take a very conservative approach to this offseason and maybe even the next offseason to try to put themselves in a position to rule the central? Or, do you think it would be better to continue to try to piece together a winning team, especially since the division is so weak anyway?
  23. Any team that wears black tops with black pants automatically sucks. No sir. Black on Black is great, especially since the black tops and bottoms both have a lot of yellow and gold in them as well. Now, the Saints all black unis are ugly because they are all black except the little French emblem thing (whatever it's called) and the numbers. It would be hideous if the helmets were black.
  24. The Mizzou unis are awesome right now. That one is ugly. Most of the other ones look bad as well, although I am a sucker for white helmets.
