  1. April Cy Young winner http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/ABPub/2010/03/26/2011454040.jpg 1-0 0.69 ERA vs. The soft-tossing lefty! http://blog.nj.com/ledgerupdates/2007/07/large_metsL.jpg 0-1 3.75 ERA At one of the weirdest stadiums ever. http://newyork.seriouseats.com/images/20090331-citifield-field.jpg Seriously, why would you put a video board in this spot? http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oI7FiAZldzc/SobQp3kk3-I/AAAAAAAACdU/n3wQ25aWrXM/100_5414%5B6%5D.jpg Chances of a Cubs win increases drastically if this guy stays in the bullpen. http://blogs.suntimes.com/cubs/bo_knows_samarzija_sucks.jpg.jpeg With Santana going Thursday, just win already! Reverse the Curse! This is the Year! Kill the Billy Goat! Etc. Etc.
  2. Gameday uses pitchf/x which uses absolute height for strike zones, right? IOW, Miles and Lee have the same size and location strike zones with it. The bottom of the zone needs to be adjusted manually, unless I'm wrong about how they do it. Um, I'm not sure. When a new batter enters the box the height of the strike zone changes, but it doesn't look like the bottom changes much if it does at all, only the top changes significantly.
  3. Turned it off but checked back on Gameday to see Fukudome's plate appearance. This is what it showed. Green are balls. Red are called or swung at strikes. Look at #5 and #7 (called). http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx273/robacjr/FukusAB.jpg
  4. Turning it off and doing some school work. Thanks Z for walking the pitcher.
  5. I bought MLB.tv again and it is amazing. Unfortunately it is only bringing pain and anguish the last few days.
  6. Cubs have outhit their opponents 25-23 over the 3-game losing streak. The Cubs have walked 8 times compared to the opponents 7 walks. The difference? The Cubs spread their offense out over nine innings. The opponents get all theirs' when the bullpen comes in for the last 2 innings or so. Tonight: Batters faced: Wells: 25 (1 R) Russell: 4 (2 R) Samardzija: 3 (3 R)
  7. Time to take a week off and only check the box scores. I don't see the bullpen getting any better. The offense may come around, but I don't think we can hope for much from the bullpen.
  8. It's hard to enjoy your team scoring 1-2 runs a game. Especially when the starters keep you in it just so the bullpen can crush your hopes. EDIT: Oh, and the lack of fundamentals is getting really old.
  9. I know it's early but I'm just not seeing a lot of reasons to get excited. I hope I'm wrong. I really do.
  10. Whoa! What's up with that huge screen in foul ground on the right field side? I've never seen that before. What a weird stadium.
  11. Uh, WHy? He's only in the mid-80's in pitches. He seems to be losing his command just a little. Not all decisions are based on pitch count. It just seems to me that he's running out of gas. Losing his command "just a little" isn't any reason to take him out when he's been pitching so well. Case in point, he just pitched a scoreless inning that we would have wasted a bullpen arm on if we would have taken him out. When pitchers run out of gas they tend to walk people and then give up a big hit. He happened to walk the leadoff guy in the 6th. I thought it looked like he was losing it and was simply saying it would be nice to be able to go to the bullpen and have faith in them. Anybody can pitch a scoreless inning. Just because he pitched a scoreless inning doesn't mean anything. Numerical results over a short period of time (1 inning) mean almost nothing compared to what is actually going on in the field. Case in point, Lopez pitched a scoreless inning against the Mets. I love Randy and am glad he pitched well. I just thought he should have come out a little earlier, but I'm glad it worked out (at least for the 6th) and we didn't use another arm.
  12. Seriously, stop hitting the ball in the air.

  14. Ike Davis just decided he needs to find a new team. That was hit hard and wasn't even close to going out.
  15. I wish we could take Wells out right now, but I don't think there is anybody down there that would do better over the next inning or so besides Marshall or Marmol and that would just be stupid.
  16. The most frustrating thing about the Cubs offense the last few days has been the pitch selection and the idea that Ramirez has to swing for the fences on every swing no matter what the situation. Situational hitting has been atrocious. If you get a pitch that you can lift early in the count with a man on third and less than two outs go ahead and swing at it. But other than that you need to be much more selective.
  17. Wow, the Mets aren't making pitchers throw a whole lot of pitches to get them out. Just over 100 yesterday for Wainwright and Wells is at 65.
  18. Pagan is going to cash in on the Mets second chance of the game.
  19. I'm glad a group project and Lost are going to give me good excuses to avoid the game tomorrow.
  20. Dang. He was having a good AB too, Baker that is.
  21. That was nice, especially after the broken bat single.
  22. Heyward remix hopefully doesn't happen here.
