It's almost like they could use an actual day off or something I know. I know. It still feels like the division could have been won this week. Not lost, but effectively won.

I hate saying meatball stuff like this because I know they’re trying, but dang the body language from the outside ha not looked good this series. I know we’d rather be up 5 games, but 2 games up coming into a 3 game series is a chance to really put the division away, and it hasn’t felt like that was how the Cubs were approchaing these games mentally. Probably a bunch of angry drivel, so just ignore me.

Tiebreakers and Makeups Rules

Head to head results, I guess? If that were tied, I don't know what the next move would be - but then, since most inter-division matchups are 6 games per season, if one weren't completed, odds are someone would have the H2H edge. Let’s say the overall NL standings end like this: Cubs - Braves 0.5 GB They wouldn’t make the Cubs makeup the game and the Cubs would be seed #1. But if they looked like this. Dodgers - Cubs 2.5 GB Braves 3 GB (and hold tie breaker) They would make the Cubs play the extra game to determine if the Cubs or Braves would have HFA for LDS. -
I’ve seen it discussed a few places on here. I thought I knew these rules, but it turns out I was wrong, so I figured we could put them in a central spot. Tie Breakers https://www.mlb.com/news/playoff-tiebreaker-rules/c-59527184 Makeup Games Makeups/delays/suspensions/etc. are all handled by MLB Rule 7.02. MLB Rules 2018: http://mlb.mlb.com/documents/0/8/0/268272080/2018_Official_Baseball_Rules.pdf 7.02 starts on page 85. 7.02(b)(5) is the rule that dictates if games have to be played or if you can finish the season with less than 162 games played. I think this means the only time it wouldn’t be played that could affect playoff seeding is between Division Winner 1 and Division Winner 2 since they both already have home field in the LDS.

they only need to tie through 162 to force a playoff game for the division though I thought they would only do the play-in game if it made the difference between October or going home early. If the Cubs and Brewers finish tied one of them would almost certainly have the wild card so I think they'd decide the division based on head-to-head record, right? Edit: everything I said was wrong. Right after we traded for him I went to the game that Prior pitched that is featured in Three Nights in August. Ramirez hit a HR that was an absolute rope. It was just a line drive to the back of the bleachers in left center. So beautiful. I was instantly hooked. Cardinals fans were all pissed they got beat by the Chicago Pirates.

I couldn’t watch this game until it was 0-1 with 2 outs in the 9th. It just felt way too easy. I didn’t suffer or anything today.
