  1. If you look at the Marlins stadium webcam you can see that this thing is actually quite monstrous in size. I would provide the link, but right now their website is completely inaccessible unless you want to watch a 15 second video of silhouetted baseball players and a 3-hour countdown to the unveiling of the Miami Marlins.
  2. Not sticking up for Dusty at all, but the scenario you just suggested is one where Mike Maddux may leave his pitcher in. He was the pitching coach for Nolan Ryan's team who was very open about ignoring pitch counts. Now would Maddux have let Prior stay out there during that inning without so much as a mound visit? I doubt it. Just saying, Maddux isn't going to make that decision based on pitch count.
  3. Some more Cubs uniform history. http://www.goatriders.org/history-of-cubs-jersey
  4. Compiled history of Cubs logos and the recent history of Cubs uniforms (only has unis from 1990 on). http://www.sportslogos.net/team.php?id=54 While I do not like the current BP hats, I do like how the C is white with red trim instead of red with white trim. I would like to see the Cubs switch those colors around on their game hat and go with the white unis some of you are talking about. So, I prefer this: http://www.sportslogos.net/images/logos/54/54/thumbs/hgfo3z55h3a2122gv8c280pj7.gif As opposed to this: http://www.sportslogos.net/images/logos/54/54/thumbs/tsw84vqfgzyh5z83dyt5d2bdp.gif I would also be curious to see what modernizing this logo on those white unis and the grey ones I posted for the road unis would look like: http://www.sportslogos.net/images/logos/54/54/thumbs/7251.gif Of course, if you put that second logo on the uniform then you would have to go with the wishbone "C" on the hat instead of the current "C." I like the wishbone C, but since there is another team in the division (Reds) and the football team (Bears) have a wishbone "C" it might not work.
  5. go take a look at who started his thread whenever you have a free moment dropped the ball on that guy too OK. Somebody help me out. I'm not sure what this means.
  6. This is not my idea, but I would like something like this for the road except I would make the numbers blue and wouldn't have the "UBS" logo on the sleeve. I would use the hat on this concept minus the pinstripes. Or, you could just add pinstripes to the current road uniforms and make the numbers blue. I don't like the red numbers... Solid blue socks no matter what.
  7. Interesting Uni-Watch article that I'm pretty sure I've read before. Ignore the stupid "curse" factor. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=lukas/080619 First thing I found to be interesting is that the Cubs have experimented with their uniforms way more than I realized. Numbers in the middle front. Just plain bad. Ugly. Pleated pants with a weird-looking vest and for some reason "Chicago" is underlined... Cubs were the first to wear powder blues in 1941. They were also the first to add pinstripes to their powder blues. Apparently the Cubs red C inside a blue circle comes from the Chicago Athletic Association. Wrigley was a member. I have never seen a Cubs uniform that I have been crazy about.
  8. YES. fapfapfapfapfap This style of post has really run its course. Yeah. Getting old.
  9. I don't really like either logo, that's the biggest reason I would be open to changes.
  10. These with walking bear logo instead of the UBS inside the C, or possibly a new logo? Although I want to get rid of the home pinstripes, I actually liked the road pinstripes they wore in Boston this year. Again, add hat and a new logo (or walking bear). Also, change socks to blue instead of grey.
  11. Uniforms are fine as is. No reason to change them. We have bigger things to change or worry about than their uni's. Because you have the ability to make those changes... And, fans should never care about anything other than how good the team is going to be.
  12. Maybe "re-brand" wasn't the best term to use, but the organization is obviously changing. I also never said they should change the uniforms. I also never said they should change their color scheme, but wondered if others did think so. I don't see why this is considered a stupid thread. The main reason I come to NSBB has far from anything to do with the Cubs uniforms. Just an idea for something to talk about.
  13. I doubt it happens, but I'm curious if Ricketts/Kenney have thought about completely changing the Cubs uniforms to help re-brand the team. I am not really much of a fan of the current uniforms. I don't really have any ideas on what I'd like to see, but I would even be open to changing the color scheme. Anybody else have any ideas/thoughts on uniform changes? Major? Minor?
  14. The NFC North is dominating the NFC South head-to-head this season. In my opinion the NFC South is the second best division in the NFC behind the NFC North... By default. The AFC appears to be the superior conference this year, at least 2 of the NFC divisions are pretty bad. I don't think the South is that great either. NO is pretty good, but Carolina stinks, Tampa is schizophrenic and I'm not sure about Atlanta either. The NFC is 15-11 vs. the AFC. The AFC is not superior. The AFC West is horrible. Most of their intra-division games have been played and that is where many of the teams' wins have come from, against each other. The NFC West hasn't really been able to play each other yet. The AFC South is not good. The NFC East isn't that bad.

  16. With that said, if the Giants have a good stretch against those teams they could be in the driver seat for a bye. Maybe, but San Francisco has 5 of their 8 remaining games against their own division. Unless they are much worse than they've shown it would be hard to see them win less than 4 of those. Their 3 other remaining games are tough (NYG, Bal, Pitt) but they have two of them at home. It looks pretty likely that the 49ers will have 12+ wins, so the Giants would both have to beat the 49ers and then only drop another game or two in order to get the bye. I don't think the Giants will get a bye. As you said, the 49ers schedule is very light. I fully expect New Orleans to end up ahead of New York as well. I don't think the Giants are very good.

  18. If you take the games out that the Packers have played against their opponents to determine what they did against the "normal" teams in the NFL, the Packers SOS is 27 / 58 = .466. This is one area where SOS can be misleading. The Packers are naturally going to have a low SOS because them winning has affected their SOS by .125. And conversely, the Bears have the strongest schedule of teams with a winning record. They definitely have had a tougher schedule to this point. At the end of the season the only difference in the two schedules will be Packers vs. St. Louis and at NY Giants. Bears vs. Seahawks and at Philadelphia. Remove the Packers and Bears head-to-head games from the equation and the overall SOS will be very comparable at the end of the season.
  19. Welcome to the board, but you're going to have to change your name...

  21. This is what I immediately thought when I heard the news of this trade.
  22. Hahahaha.
  23. Not catchable.
  24. Special teams is hurting the Packers. Again.
  25. Wow. Pathetic showing by the Packers defense right now. They've been on the field all game long. Closer look. The TOP is almost even. DON'T BRING THAT OUT OF THE ENDZONE!
