  2. Who is saying this? Show me. Not here. Mainly Twitter and such. I don't know about Lillibridge being the new Campana, but a Google search of "lillibridge campana" returned this. Paul Sullivan An old Heckler article. http://www.theheckler.com/2011/08/03/guillen-quade-investigated-for-child-labor-law-violations/ Cubs.com message board.
  3. Please come work for my company as the person who writes my paychecks.
  4. Something weird is going on. My dad who constantly complains that the Cubs don't bunt or steal enough, thinks Luis Valbuena is the future stud at third base and is the ultimate supporter of grit (and therefore loved Tony Campana) texted me yesterday applauding Theo for getting something for Campana since there wasn't room for him and he's not really valuable to the team at this point. This morning he texted me that he's anxious to see if the Cubs get anything for Soriano since he doesn't think the Cubs will contend this year. A month ago he was convinced they were definitely going to finish at least .500. To put that in context he was pretty upset when they didn't resign Aramis and didn't like the deadline deals last year "unless they resign these guys as free agents." He thought the 100+ loss season was Hendry's fault but didn't like that Theo didn't put a good team on the field last year. I want to know what blog he stumbled across.
  5. I'm no expert. I was just an ok high school hitter on a very good high school team with a very good coach, but I thought the goal was to make his swing more compact and not so long? The only compact swings I saw he was setting his foot down closer to the plate (closed finish) and was cutting off his power. The swings where it looked like he actually finished his swing and still had power were the swings that were not very compact (and supposedly the source of his K rate last season). These swings are not very consistent to me. The only thing that seems consistent is the beginning of the swinging motion looks similar to Rizzo's motion. Edit: It might help if I added the video link. http://www.bleachernation.com/2013/02/15/brett-jacksons-new-swing-in-action-video/
  6. I am so sick of hearing arguments over who is elite and who is not. Serious discussions are interesting. I'm tired of discussions on whether guys are elite or not that are based around QB W/L record and other meaningless stats. It's basically dominated the sports radio in KC since the Ravens beat New England. The discussions are far from advanced.
  7. What section are you in? (Bleachers, OF Box, etc). They handed out a half sheet of paper with each price per game based on whether the game is marquee, silver, platinum, etc. I happened to keep it, so let me know what section you're in and I'll type it in. I hadn't seen that before, but I went back and looked through my paperwork and found that sheet, so I'm all set. Thanks! Remember to add the 12% amusement tax.

  9. Wonder if the Cubs have any chance of landing a lesser Big 10/someone else bowl game.
  10. 2012/2013 vs NL East - 32/32 vs NL West - 34/34 vs NL Central - 81/76 vs AL - 15/20 Basically, not much difference. We play the four remaining division opponents 19 times each in 2013. It was 17 (Brewers/Cardinals) and 16 (Pirates/Reds) last season. So, basically an extra series against each of them. Since 3 of the additional AL games are against Houston, it really didn't change the schedule much at all. Cubs played Houston 15 times last year. Four games instead of six against the White Sox. I'd be curious to see how this affects the other divisions in baseball year-to-year.
  11. That's not a generalization/stereotype at all.
  12. Almost 80 years ago the A's went through a very similar situation with rooftop bleachers. Incredible. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shibe_Park
  13. just getting caught up on this. Jesus what an offensive article. i'm adopted and have no interest in meeting my birth parents. i'm glad my birth mother decided to have me and put me up for adoption, and i'm glad that i ended up with the people i call my parents, but beyond that, i have no need. i was adopted when i was two weeks old. i've never known my parents as anything other than that. they loved me and supported me. they're my parents; my brother is my brother. that's it. i'd feel awful if some guy went around badgering me to get in touch with my birth parents and calling my birth mother and harassing her too. [expletive] rick reilly. what a condescending piece of [expletive]. I'm in the same situation. I actually had an opportunity to meet my birth mother years ago, and I turned it down. I just felt like I knew who my real parents were, and it wasn't my biological ones. Also, I felt like my father, who was recently a widower at the time, would have been hurt by it. The bottom line is, this is always an incredibly personal thing, and nobody should ever trample on someone else's reasons for doing what they do. Reilly is trash. My dad and my uncle are adopted. My uncle is married to a woman who is adopted and has an adopted brother. My dad is the only one of the four that decided to meet his biological mother. It would have been better if he had not met her, or his three half-siblings from his mom, or finding out that he was one of at least 22 children fathered by his biological father who died before my dad could meet him. His adopted family was astronomically a better situation than his biological family would have been. I'm sure that's the case in most adoption cases and sure seems to be the case in the Kaepernick situation. This is not a one size fits all situation, and I wouldn't fault any adopted person for making either decision.
  14. Yeah. He's a Raiders fan.
  15. The first three plays after the outage were very positive plays from the Ravens standpoint. A third-down stop. A punt. A 15-yard pass. This is going to be so overblown.
  16. Next week's column by Reilly will be about the time the lights went out in his house when he was a kid.
  17. I am really starting to feel like more than 90% of sports media types are completely worthless. Who does Reilly think he is? This is none of his business and has no place being brought up during Super Bowl week. http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/8897116/colin-kaepernick-birth-mom For context Rae is Reilly's adopted daughter. Maybe Colin did ask those questions but just didn't want to discuss them with you during Super Bowl week, because it's none of your business. I hate when people infer and assume and then judge based on those assumptions. No two instances are the same. The guy likes his family and doesn't want to do anything to mess up a good thing. Sure, it's likely nothing negative will come of it but let him decide.
  18. The Royals recently posted one of these. I'm proficient in one of their required programming languages: MATLAB. Of course there were 7 or 8 that were required.
  19. Spoilers in this article by Jeff Passan about the whole episode. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/story-of-miguel-sano-chronicles-ugly--sleazy-side-of-baseball-s-dominican-talent-pipeline.html
  20. If anybody has Netflix streaming Ballplayer: Pelotoro is a pretty interesting hour or so documentary on Dominican prospects and the signing process. It's pre new CBA, but it's still relevant and actually alludes to upcoming changes in the system. Oh, and there is an interesting portrayal of the Pirates now that we know about the way they treat their prospects.
  21. In all of this I am reminded that I am so happy the Ricketts own the Cubs.
  22. Hard to see where the common ground will be when all is said and done. A lot of players involved: Cubs Rahm Tunney Rooftop owners Actual Wrigleyville residents I don't think any of them come into the negotiations with a position that completely agrees with any other group. Tunney receives lots of donations from the rooftops (according to something I read today), but he represents a lot more residents who only benefit from the Cubs because their propert values are higher and others who probably get zero benefit from the Cubs. I'm not sure how big his ward is, so I'm just guessing on that part.
  23. http://www.bleachernation.com/2013/01/25/obsessive-wrigley-renovation-watch-the-cubs-go-into-sell-mode-more-details-on-what-they-want/ Wonder if/how this will affect the combo plan holders this season. If they are making a bunch of Friday games night games I would certainly want those tickets in my plan.
