  1. It's almost not fair for them, we should give them an extra pick every couple years high in the draft to even things out. 10 years ago today, the Cubs won Game 4 of the NLCS. Since that day, the Cubs have won zero playoff games and the Cardinals are about to win their 45th. It's pretty depressing. The only other teams to not win a playoff game since then: Toronto Kansas City Seattle
  2. 4 runs on 9 hits over 21 innings with two rookie starting pitchers and they're going to be 2-0...
  3. Haven't been watching the game. Just looked at the box score. Baseball sucks.
  4. You were inspired by the new Yankee Stadium? That place is an abomination. Could you expand on that thought, because I think it is pretty awesome.
  5. This is not practical, just my pipe dream. After going to the new Yankee Stadium and then seeing the pictures of our new spring training stadium I really wish the Cubs could just take a couple of seasons away from Wrigley, tear it down and rebuild it in the same fashion but better. Maybe move the second deck up and out just a little bit. Add a smaller third deck to the top (or put the suites on top of the second deck making site lines on the lower deck much better - plus NO POLES!) and/or a second deck on top of the RF bleachers with a video board above the LF bleachers. Of course the rooftops would go nuts, but since this is my fantasy land I don't care.
  6. I can't believe the way they make me feel. I don't like when the Cubs/Packers lose big games, but I actually get more angry when the Cardinals win than when my teams lose. It's not quite to that extreme for me, but I definitely hate when they win way more than when any other team wins. I don't watch their games, so at least I don't see them pull this [expletive] live. I always say I'm not going to watch, but then I do. Of course this year I really wanted to watch the Pirates in the playoffs. I just hope the Cubs never play the Cardinals in the postseason. That would be miserable. The revenge from beating them would not be worth the angst. I'd rather beat some non-descript team from the eastern or central time zone so I don't have to stay up until 1:00 AM like Tigers fans.
  7. I was literally just coming to post that I hoped all the Cardinals died in a plane crash. Way too many Cardinals fans at work. The ghosts of those players would just solidify the Cardinals would win the next 20 World Series.
  8. I can't believe the way they make me feel. I don't like when the Cubs/Packers lose big games, but I actually get more angry when the Cardinals win than when my teams lose.
  9. We should start betting against what we want to happen. I think most of us around here were rooting in this manner the last two season in the LDS: Giants over Reds - HEY! Nationals over Cardinals A's over Tigers Orioles over Yankees Braves over Dodgers (although I wanted Dodgers in case the Cardinals won because I think they will be tougher) Pirates over Cardinals Rays over Red Sox A's over Tigers - We'll see
  10. Brenly just questioned Wainwright taking that AB with a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the 7th and Wainwright at 88 pitches...
  11. Wainwright only threw one decent pitch to hit to those last four batters and Alvarez fouled it off. They were extremely lucky that inning to get what they got. Their approach has been awful this game.
  12. That's what it felt like last year: A's, Nationals, Orioles.
  13. Close to zero patience for Pittsburgh hitters. Obviously I'm oversimplifying it because Wainwright is a good pitcher, but it seems like the approach should be to not swing at anything that doesn't appear to be above the belt.
  14. Matt Holliday apparently looks just like Carlos Beltran, switched jerseys with him and moved to RF between innings.
  15. Looking good now. Anybody else in the pool look like they're going to drop out this week?
  16. I feel like Mike McCarthy's only goal this year is to run as much time off the clock as possible.
  17. While many of my teams are different, yes, it's the best month. Now only if the Cubs were playing.
  18. Yep, that's always the first thing that pops in my head. Sort-of related, I feel like a good way to test if you're dealing with a Cubs' die-hard (presuming they're old enough to have seen it) is to ask if they know who the three players in that rundown were. Random thing that only lunatics like us remember, I'm sure. best cubs gave i've ever been to. i wonder if the sportscenter video i uploaded years ago is still floating around online... I was at that game too. I think I might even still have the radio call saved somewhere. Craziest damn gave I'd ever seen. First and only time the 7th inning stretch conductor was ejected from the game, and then that final play. Holy crap. I never kept a journal or anything like that as a kid, but I wrote down my memories of that game just afterward and put it in my baby book so I knew I would always have it.
  19. http://www.businessinsider.com/theo-epsteins-plan-to-fix-mlbs-wild-card-round-is-perfect-2013-10 It's just his opinion, but it looks like I'm in good company.
  20. That Miley Cyrus comment was pretty good.
  21. I don't think Matheny could have really done it any differently, but I think sending two rookies to start in Pittsburgh could be extremely difficult for the Cardinals to overcome. I don't think there will be a more raucous atmosphere this postseason as Pittsburgh will be if the Pirates get out to early leads.
  22. Playoff baseball TV broadcasts have been awful for quite some time. As much as I can't stomach Joe Buck, I much prefer FOX to all the other broadcast options we've had in the postseason.
  23. I vote for the resolution where they all go down in flames.
  24. Ugh. Dick Stockton and the Cardinals. Glad I'm not watching this crap.
  25. I know some teams (pretty sure the Yankees) pay their players year-round and other teams pay their players just during the season (I think most teams). Any idea how the Cubs handle this?
