  1. They just put me in Kevin Orie's locker. They figured he didn't deserve a MLB locker anyway.
  2. Rays are getting 1-hit in the 8th and are winning 1-0. On May 21 they lost to Oakland 3-2 allowing only 1 hit.
  3. Um, the Royals are going to be on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball on August 31. First time since 1996.
  4. Ironically, the Mets are in Oakland tonight.
  5. I took the survey. I don't remember the exact wording, but I definitely did not get the impression that I was making a selection saying that I would rather give them some of my money (and make my renewal decision) sooner. Also, when we are in the playoffs October is going to be expensive enough and now we have to pay our deposit for next year DURING October???
  6. Only agree to do it if Sammy Sofa will change his sig pic.
  7. That season was the best. Still loved the 03/04 teams more, but 08 was awesome.
  8. I just realized the Cubs have had a 3-game losing streak in every postseason they have been in since the LCS was established. '84 - Games 3-5 NLCS '89 - Games 3-5 NLCS '98 - Games 1-3 NLDS '03 - Games 5-7 NLCS '07 - Games 1-3 NLDS '08 - Games 1-3 NLDS
  9. Could he sign a one-year deal just for the end of this season for a contender? I mean, maybe one would way overpay and then he would just be a FA in a few months. Is this even possible?
  10. I heard something else happened but did not see it...
  11. I know they're not allowed to stand in front of the plate without the ball but is the catcher allowed to go after the ball like Pierzynski did? If he is, then you can't call him for blocking the plate. If he isn't, then it is blocking the plate. Never saw a good view of whether or not Pierzynski made the tag but it didn't appear like his glove moved when he made the swipe and his reaction made it seem like he missed the runner. Plus, as the SD announcers pointed out, why didn't the ump make the call right away. If he thought Pierzynski got the runner with the swipe, signal it immediately because nothing else matters. But he let the play go and then had to think about it for a couple seconds after. Not sure about the whole going for the ball portion of it, but the way the rule has been enforced (which I hate by the way, but still, that's how it is being enforced) AJ's position without the ball caused the runner to change his route because he did not have a clear lane. If the catcher's intent for the blocking the plate without the ball is also up to the umpire's judgement then there is just way too much judgement allowed in the rule. And when judgement is involved with the Cardinals then something stupid is going to happen (see: infield fly). Also, the best shot I saw did not show daylight the entire time between the glove and the runner, but it was "clear and convincing" that the tag was missed. Again, judgement is involved in "clear and convincing," so, advantage Cardinals.
  12. Padres just got hosed on a challenge that would have tied the game in the ninth. 1. Player was safe at home. 2. Catcher didn't give him a lane. Somehow still was called out.
  13. I feel I am far more knowledgable than the average football fan, but I realize how little I actually know about what is going on behind the scenes. Also, the way two fumbles bounce and a kick hitting an upright can be the difference between a 10-6 division title and a 7-9 season (and a potential Super Bowl title). Luck is a huge factor considering the majority of games come down to the last 5 minutes. Edit: oh, and the officials.
  14. Um, I think we need a picture of two famous Jacks standing back-to-back to be used for all these back to back jacks we're going to experience.
  15. 2015, but only because someone will do it intentionally.
  16. I went last night. City is getting pretty excited.
  17. What? Yeah, because of the horsepower of the cars and because of the track surface being dirt, the throttle works as a way to steer the vehicle. So for the wheel to turn the gas must be being pushed? Ever been on a jet ski? Kind of similar. To move in the direction the wheels are turned you have to give it power. Otherwise you just slide in the direction of your tangential momentum.
  18. Right. If you watch the video, the car in front of Stewart had to swerve to miss the kid. As tragic as this is, I really think the person at fault here was the kid that died. It would be nice if they could prosecute everybody who decided to be a fan of racing in the first place. This. I mean, they got what they went to see, right? I'm no fan of racing, but come on. Really?
  19. I'd really like to hear the opinions of those that were at the track and know the sport. However, even that has to be taken with a grain of salt. How are a bunch of people going to react when their peer is killed in a confrontation with a superstar?
  20. In general I prefer no DH, but the Cubs would probably be better off in the near future with a DH. But I'm with you, mostly I want it to be the same across the entire majors.
  21. The Hunter Pence sign thing is pretty great.
