  1. Question: if someone had scored during the extra time at the end of the first half what minute would it go down in the stat sheet? Since the time went back to 45:00 at half I'm just confused at to how that is scored.
  2. It still amazes me how many people that work in baseball (in organizations, announcers and commentators) have so little understanding of how the game they have been involved in for most of their life actually works. It's like when Dayton Moore explained his rosters inability to take a walk. He claimed the Royals are always at the bottom of the league in walks because they play in such a large park so pitchers are more likely to challenge hitters. Kind of sounds plausible I guess, but the stats show that in the time span he was talking about (a few years) the Royals actually walked more often at home than on the road. You would think these guys would know these things. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/06/20/dayton-moore-blames-kauffman-stadium-for-the-royals-poor-walk-rate/
  3. Yeah, but the reaction of the fan on the ump's left shoulder is pretty awesome.
  4. So, we were almost guaranteed another Rizzo AB with someone on base, but NO...
  5. Ump found a way to screw us 3 times on 2 pitches. Pretty impressive.
  6. I've been to two SKC games now (both this season). I've had similar thoughts at both. There is a lot of downtime during the game, for sure. But the atmosphere is pretty great. Maybe it was not so great the time we went, but if I want to see people stand behind the goals and act like morons I'd rather go to a NCAA basketball game. I know one of those guys. I don't know how they have voices after those games. In fairness, one of the games I went to was against Cruz Azul, and the large number of opposing fans and the nationalistic factor ramped up the crowd quite a bit. The second one, a dreadful draw against Toronto, wasn't nearly as fun. I saw them play Stoke City (had to look it up) in August 2012.

  8. I actually watch the World Cup, but that is it. Our office went to a Sporting KC match and the whole time I kept thinking, "It's like hockey but really slow and boring. Man, I wish I was at a hockey game." There was only one scoring chance in the 75 minutes of soccer that we watched. It wasn't even a difficult save for the goalie. From the time we left our seats and got to our car (about 5-10 minutes) both teams had scored. Game ended in a draw. I've never been interested in attending another match. Although, I would like to go to one in Europe or South America. That would be interesting.
  9. I'm updating the fourth post in this thread with every signing and we can talk about it in this thread. If this is about my posts about other teams signings, I can move that talk elsewhere but I feel like this is the best thread for Cub signings. Thanks for doing that. Very helpful.
  10. Bonifacio bunting on 2-0 when the only two strikes thrown all inning were the two pitches where Baney was obviously taking is infuriating.
  11. love him so much. At 100 pitches he did not come out for the 8th.
  12. Felix Hernandez has 15 K through 7.
  13. One more thing on the 13th rounder: SEMO coaches never expected him to actually play for them. Confident he will sign.
  14. My count is 12 pitchers, 5 bats (2 C/OF, SS, 3B/OF, 2B).
  15. No idea how many HR he has, but Kennett is in our conference and their field is enormous. Edit: My brother-in-law is the head coach at a rival HS. Said they clocked him at 94 throwing third to first. Really fast. Smart hitter. Said he seems like he has a good personality... For what that worth.
  16. Quickly being reminded why I don't watch MLB Network.
  17. "Cubs haven't had a base runner in scoring position today." HR
  18. My all time favorite Cubs commercial was the Garden Claw Gold commercial. That thing ran for 20 years+ I think.
  19. Taveras hit a HR. Puke.
  20. Ok, who was actually surprised?
  21. He is the epitome of what it is to be a Cardinals fan.
  22. They will. You have 50% chance of one of your games being the game the Cubs score 9+ runs to keep their pythag playoff dreams alive. You could have a repeat of my only trip to Petco. Score 6 runs in the first and lose 8-6. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SDN/SDN201308230.shtml
