  1. If you haven't read the article about him he literally did not get married and have kids so he could go to all the big sports games. It's annoying, but he's a nice guy. He gives random families really good seats to huge games.
  2. Wow, that is pretty bad. More questions than answers. At least they (kind of) got the continent right.
  3. Who would you rather have: Tim McCarver or Harold Reynolds? Who would Joe Buck rather have?
  4. I'm going 2016, but I have high hopes for 2015.
  5. What's the optimism of actually playing in a postseason series?
  6. I would have rather seen Jeter hit walk off HRs in 4 straight WS games than watch the cardinals go to another series.
  7. HAPPY CARDINAL ELIMINATION DAY!!! Already used, but it's the best: http://img.pandawhale.com/post-51366-kramer-karate-kid-gif-Imgur-Tu-OASn.gif
  8. Cannot wait to get out the K today.
  9. For the last two years I have not been able to recuperate even 50% of the costs of the tickets that I do not use, and that's with family buying 10 or so games from me at face value. I have a combo plan. I have to imagine trying to sell the weekday day games is a nightmare.
  10. I'm not freaking out. We play them 6-9 times a year at most. Even if they become a 105-win perennial juggernaut (they won't) that will only help every team outside the West when it comes to the Wild Card. A 5- or 7-game series is pretty close to a coin flip anyway.
  11. While I wouldn't say I've jumped on the bandwagon considering I've been following Royals since 2006 and go to well over 20 games a year since moving here, this article makes it look like I've jumped on for people who know me. Full disclosure, I told this guy I was a Cubs fan that really gets into the Royals as well. He decided not to include that part (don't blame him). This article ran in the KC Star as well, but you have to be a subscriber to read it on their website. http://www.lsjournal.com/2014/10/08/121852/kcs-own-royal-baby-born-at-hospital.html
  12. most are well aware of what a moron yost is and that this success is in spite of him the plaschkes and [expletive] will always be what they are so who cares That's not entirely true. Even some sabermatricians are Ned apologists. The bulk of his work when it comes to bunting/stealing/calling for intentional walks is actually about average. He has just used the bunt in some high profile situations where it was clearly the wrong call and has been skewered for it. Also, while I hate giving away outs, the success rate at which the Royals steal... You can't tell me they are not better off overall for all their steal attempts. Finally, he hates the media and says some pretty dumb stuff that I don't think even he believes because he will never put a loss on the players. So, you get answers like "he's the sixth inning guy" to explain why he used Aaron Crow in the biggest situation of the game instead of Herrera or Davis. However, he doesn't always stick to his "innings guys." He has gone to his best relievers in tight spots lately. Yost is doing pretty well for what he has been given and where they play. He does manage the bullpen pretty well minus one big issue: he does not take his "big" starters out soon enough when they are playing with fire and getting away with it. He will do it to the young guys, but not Shields and Vargas.
  13. this would go down as an iconic baseball moment if the cubs had won the world series (and that game). same with wood's home run in game 7. instead they're almost completely forgotten. :( Wood's HR is my single favorite sports play ever.
  14. If Royals lose they have a legit reason to be angry with the home plate umpire.
  15. And now Holland is getting squeezed. Thanks blue.
  16. Nice job by Hosmer swinging at a pitch nowhere near the strike zone after 11 straight balls.
  17. Number of outs recorded by Orioles in the 7th: 0. By the umpires: 3.
  18. So Schoop pushes Dyson off the bag and then Cain gets hosed on strike 3. Yay umpires.
  19. James Shields has walked a tightrope all postseason. He has not been impressive.
  20. Royals OF is fun to watch. Well, minus, Aoki. Unless you like watching routine plays become exciting, then Aoki is fun.
  21. TBS somehow finds a way to delay the start of the game.
  22. Boooooooooooooooo!
  23. I wish I never took a statistics class so I did not appreciate how lucky it is even for good teams to have this much postseason success.
