  1. Marlins don't have a meteorologist because the roof is never open. It's seriously open like 2 games per year. We were there on a 75-degree evening that was beautiful and the roof was closed. Edit: I'm pretty sure I read 2 games in 2014 somewhere months ago. This article said 15 in 2012 and 8 in 2013. http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/510737
  2. Royals. And I love watching Trout and McCutchen.

  5. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/12614706/adidas-takes-shot-chicago-cubs-kris-bryant-worth-wait-billboard-wrigley-field This is awesome. Even if it is considered a dig at the Cubs.
  6. I know it's ridiculously obvious, but I have not been this excited about Opening Day in a really long time.
  7. Well, that's cool. However, it's replacing the .390 Club which nobody knew was free entry and a great place to watch the game in air conditioning with a waiter after buying a $5 ticket. Of course, since it was always empty I guess they had to do something with it.
  8. And once it is unrolled, it can never fit back into the box again no matter how hard they try. Haha. In all seriousness if Reynolds Wrap has like a retro 1950s box that could be used as the design I actually really like the idea.
  9. Kenny Mayne arguing with Harold Reynolds about how good Brandon Phillips is is hilarious.
  10. I hope the tarp has a rectangular cover that looks like a Reynolds Wrap box.
  11. Also, not sure what you mean by black box but the Wintrust sign is going on top of it. I meant the new board looks like a black box at the moment. But I'm sure they will add some flair on the sides and on the top. I thought the light trees were a good idea but maybe that would be too much. The old scoreboard is going to be ignored. Why would you bother looking at it when all the boards around it are giving you the same information in a more enhanced way? I'd be surprised if that wasn't altered in some way in the years to come. Maybe make it digital somehow? How long do you try and hold onto it? Very interesting to watch this unfold in the next few years. The old scoreboard is going nowhere. Other teams have recreated similar scoreboards for out of town games and still used digital boards to do the same thing.
  12. What happens to the media and behind closed doors may be very different. This is a players' union solidarity issue. Arrieta just Tweeted a joke earlier today about bro-hugging Bryant and gaining opposite-field pop. It's just Twitter, granted, but that's probably not something you do unless you like the guy. Yeah that was awesome... but Bryant is going to get hazed in some way. Yeah, but not like this (it seems) http://andrewstoeten.com/2015/02/19/gregg-zaun-on-playing-the-right-way-and-physical-abuse-at-the-hands-of-cal-ripken/
  13. Agreed. However, the Royals had their video portion of the board up for a full season before they finished the cosmetic shell IIRC.
  14. I am so glad it seems that most current MLB veterans treat young guys like human beings. Always thought the "you have to earn my respect by letting me mistreat you" crap was ridiculous. In more specific terms I'm talking about Lester/Arrieta/Rizzo talking about Bryant.
  15. Snuck in in 2005. It already had wildlife living in it (animal crap everywhere) and this was just before they used it for all the misplaced people from Katrina. Like 2-3 weeks before the hurricane hit.
  16. These Rangers announcers are awful.
  17. I don't think the 4-seam one is accurate. At least not at mid-80s, but maybe at 90+, idk? I could see the seams and I'm sure most professional hitters (other than Olt) can see them as well. Still really cool graphic though. Changeups are thrown so many different ways that I don't put much stock in that one either.
  18. I love Miller.
  19. Um, it would crush Holliday and MLB would force the Cubs to give the Cardinals Bryant to make up for it.
  20. Since all of the random musing threads are dead I suppose this warrants its own thread. Is this normal? The Iowa Cubs have SIX (6) off days (not counting ASB) all season. To put that in perspective the Chicago Cubs have four in April and 18 overall.
  21. Cubs. Slamming the Kool-Aid.
  22. Raise the K zone 2 inches please
  23. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/broadcasts/spring_mlbtv.jsp March 10 is the first chance.
