  1. Can Zobrist still even hit a 97 mph fastball fair.. he was swinging with the ball in the catchers mitt last AB.
  2. It really is awesome he's got this job now; it always bummed me out that he was just suddenly gone from baseball. I can’t believe he’s still only 36 Can he trade spots with Lackey?
  3. weird stuff certainly does happen out west (You can't blame me for finding every possible opportunity to post 2016 playoff highlights) theo looks like he's about to pass out after the zobrist double God that game and whole video and the playoffs and horsefeathering everything 2016 is just awesome. Must say makes me miss Chapman a bit too. I know hes probably a crappy human and Wade might be even better but something about adding him to that juggernaut and hitting that 103 is just magical and intimidating. Not usually into mythical stuff but him at the end of the game there had me thinking of Daenrys Dragons in Game of Thrones. Daernys is probably formidable enough on her own like the 2016 Cubs.. but then she gets horsefeathering dragons and thats what Chapman was to the Cubs. Our fuckin caged dragon.
  4. Didnt that Theo guy have a good farm in Boston? Oh right Theo was always losing 100 games in Boston to get good prospect.. thats the only way its done. We are screwed.
  5. I think we saw this in 2015 a bit when a lot of people wanted to trade for Tyson Ross or Danny Salazar and Theo didnt want to get rid of his core prospects.
  6. What would a deal for Verlander look like now?
  7. I think people forget just how good a defensive 3B he was. He had some excellent seasons offensively, but he always was a very good defensive player before we had good metrics for measuring defense. I'm still angry the Phillies traded him to the Cardinals... yeah, i remember us being in those trade rumors with rolen when he was with the phillies too The rumor I remember was the Phillies demanded Juan Cruz but the Cubs would only part with Zambrano. Interesting both teams fuked up on the Cruz aspect so cant blame the Cubs totally for what wouldve turned out to be robbery sending Juan for Rolen. Did Rolen's post Phillies career turn out way better than Aramis though? We still had a good stretch at 3b after a 30 year drought.
  8. I actually meant to ask this the other day but what was the Cubs best rolling 162 over the last few years? I know at one time we were at like a 119 win pace or something over 130 straight games or something crazy. probably the day before we started that miserable stretch in july 2016 I figured that or from the moment we got hot in the 2nd half 2015 through that 11 game win streak July into August 2016 even including the crap Fowlerless month or so had to be a crazy stretch considering how hott the end of 2015 was, beginning 2016 and the 11 game win streak.

  10. That statline through your first 162 games doesnt scare me at all. First 162 games bookended with a terrible injury in the middle that took a whole year of ABs away from him. I legit think Schwarber would have been hitting significantly better had he not missed an entire season of ABs after only a little over 2 months of seeing MLB pitching for the first time. He might struggle more this season but I think you are going to see a guy that rakes come mid 2018 to 2019 as he develops.
  11. Seems pretty shortsighted about a guy who was dynamite in the regular season and playoffs last year & had brief struggles to start the season followed by a good stretch of pitching and a hand injury.. I know it wasn't a shoulder or elbow, but it was still an injury that kept him out well over a month, and he throws 85 mph now. If he wasn't a Cub, we'd all be mocking him in the #NotAllPitchers thread. I think he still belongs in a regular season rotation, but the thought of him in the playoffs gives me major anxiety at the moment. Now, I'm not saying you go out and trade for Verlander just because Hendricks might be broken. You have to feel good about JV first and foremost if you're going to take on that contract. But either way, I like that they are apparently looking hard at him. I just think its weird to forecast he wont be good. But yeah if no velocity comes back and he sucks sure I wouldnt want him to pitch in the playoffs either. But more than likely I think Kyle will be just fine in the 2nd half so we shall see.

  13. Maybe the Rangers like some of our high ceiling single A and lower guys? Yankees might not want to part with a stud and the Rangers might prefer our super young dude to some other teams?
  14. Ugh hell with Lackey. I love Happ but id almost trade him for a Darvish rental just not to see Lackey anymore.
  15. Probably the stupid 2012 shitbirds off top of my head. I typed in another word for poop birds. So now edited.
  16. I'd settle for 3 hits today. Id like to point out I Meatballed hard.. tore up my living room a bit but still kept some hope on that 3 spot. Moral of the story.. never go full meatball.
  17. Im ready to meatball. I hate the mother horsefeathering Cardinals. Offense horsefeathers the bed and fucked over Lester bigtime. & Worst of all to the carcass of stupid ass Wainwright. Plz put a 3 spot up here and kill these horsefeathering Cardinals. Im infuriated.
  18. Tons of swing and miss but then again, Tommy Pham has a 140 wRC+ this year after spending parts of 11 seasons in the minors. So you know this guy is the next Judge. Eh, Pham has an eye thing and is blind some days and can see great others. He's gonna be a tough guy to figure out. Plus he's been various kinds of injured over the years. Hasnt he hit way better since an eye procedure? Cards wouldve turned Mike Olt into Pujols.
  19. Idk if its on Bosio, Contreras or CJ/Hector but pitch calling just fucked this game. Pisspoor. Cards hitters were overmatched and handed them walks on shitty sliders when both pitchers couldve blew them away.
  20. He's actually looked good today. That double by Fowler never happens if Almora is playing CF and not Happ. That was actually a pretty routine flyball. Seem like it hung up forever. Jakes stuff does look wicked today.
  21. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/07/19/theo-epstein-cubs-farm-system-response-criticism/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Theo is such a badass. The whole article is great with quotes about how the farm is static and will be replenished. He brought up just because you trade a good prospect doesnt mean you wont ever have a good prospect again. You keep developing. Favorite part is this Mic Drop Quote "but the best part of our farm system right now is at the lower levels, where the talent is emerging, and at the big leagues, where they’re all wearing rings.”
  22. Quintana was probably drooling at the chance of facing that Sox offense that he got to see in person blow his wonderful starts for years and years. Poor guy.
  23. Im still nervous about the 2015 Wild Card Game. Fuk the WC. Lets win the division... But agreed multiple angles to get in is helpful.
  24. Because the orioles did that thing they love doing which is to take away a pitcher's best pitch. Lol I still remember Bundy looking like a god like prospect throwing 100mph with a 98 mph cutter and the O's made him stop throwing it for like more sliders or something and his arm blew up instantly. Poor kid
  25. [tweet] [/tweet] Quintana hinders this season how? Man he is a stupid fuk.. i wont even click the article to find out.
