i feel this is exagerrated for the mere fact we supposedly had a top NL offense until the last 5 weeks of 2018 that was predicated on scoring runs without the dong. Now we are soleh attached to dong? My guesss is we have had a good but not great offense both years but donging likely helps us more. I feel both extremes make it suck. I think we should be one of the maybe two or three teams in baseball that can have a mixture. I don't watch enough ball outside the Cubs. Are all games just decided via home run derby or is it just the one team I watch? I know everyone loves a big dong, but it feels like without multiple dongs in a game, I have to watch our offense get five hits and struggle to get guys home from second with zero outs because they don't know anything but dongs. Thanks for reading my frustrations. i just dont think we are on the extreme of either and likely been a good offense most of the last 2 years with a horrendous september of last year. 5th straight year looking good for the playoffs, its not doomsville. Agree it would be better if everyone developed and we were winning 105 games per year but hardly realistic.

Yes im sure hes laughing at the Cubs offense who is top 3-5 in pretty much every major offensive category and in 1st place. He would rather be with the 10 game back Mets. -
Better than every other month like last year. I think if Darvish stays healthy and pitches consistently he will end up being good as a Cub. The more he pitches the more in tune his mechanics and control will get, paired with his wicked stuff.

Its mid May.. gotta be fairly happy with the results so far. Rarely does anyone have a big lead at this point.

Without the Lester signing, none of the 2015-2018 stuff happens IMO so it's far from a snore. It's the most consequential FA signing in team history I'm not saying he sucked or anything; it's just boring as horsefeathers. I didn't think the peak FA signing was going to be a mumbly, shiny-faced, giant baby man. I wanted the coolness of the Fowler re-signing, except on a stage that made other teams weep and get pissed. Im as annoyed as anyone over the last 6 months but Lester is about as good as a FA pitcher signing there is. Also brought us our first ring in a million years and 95 wins per year.

...They’re objectively less valuable than your league average #3 starting pitcher. This is my problem with putting them in the Hall. You can take any teams top 3 or 4 starters and you would have the same or better results than the best relievers. Anytime 100+ players are equal or better than you ... you're not a HOFer. Meh I doubt many teams have a 3 starter that just converts to as dominant as guys like Edwin Diaz, Britton, Chapman, Andrew Miller, Jansen and Kimbrel have been the last few years. There is a couple 3 starters with especially nasty stuff that might be able to touch that dominance as a reliever but there isnt one on every team. -
No idea what will happen but I wouldnt doubt if Bryce definitely wants to be a Cub. I met and talked alot of baseball with Harper once. He did say him and KB talk about being in the same lineup "all the time"... this was 2 summers ago. I know some people who have spoken with KB's dad who say he always tries to play up that they weren't really good friends growing up and it's overblown and blah blah. But maybe they are better friends now. It sure seems like it. And maybe (actually, no, not maybe) KB's dad is just one of those horsefeathers baseball dads (yes, he is). Likely became closer when both went to the big leagues. Harpers wife and Dad were bringing up the Bryants alot as well. The other quip I remember was him wanting to get KB to join him for some international WBC style tournament in Japan in the future.

Any truth to the Cat also predicting Soler for Davis. Read this on reddit... If thats true thats much more highly specific & his 2nd correct forecast so might lend more to him actually knowing someone. Again, always proceed with caution but off the top of my head havent forum posters had inside into on Theo to Cubs, Lester to Cubs, and Quintana trade? Edit: someone else on reddit said he called the Justin Wilson trade and Cubs being in on Verlander before Astros came out on top. The guy is from AZ, living down here ive met many players, agents, scouts, execs in restaurants and bars. Plenty winter here and of course spring training.

Not saying I love that there has been financial constraint rumors but there is definitely a solid chance Theo/Jed are just flying under radar stealth mode on Harper. Theo is the same guy who secret signed Dex Fowler and randomly had him run out to Spring Training one practice after camp started. A real chance it might help bring price down a little for the original Harper projections with the Yanks & Red Sox not in on the mega FA as usual. If Sox / Phillies are the competition and Bryce has big interest on being here Theo going under the radar might be able to get Bryce at some discount (compared to hitting FA in other years). That combined with the likelyhood they are probably trying to dump Heyward / Chatwood aggressively. Im sure they dont want to tip their hand 100% that they HAVE to move them making trades harder. ^ reasons to holdout hope..

But, I did.. and Manilow had a return tour in Vegas through October and is back again in 2019.. so a Manilow advertisement is very lucky. So CtheCat still good, and Harper to Cubs done deal is what this means.
