  1. To be fair the Cubs and Red Sox are only time this decade. A lil pissed Red Sox one because before this year Cubs were arguably the best World Series Champion since the 114 win Yankees in the late 90s. Red Sox had the best record in 2013. And I know you said this decade but there's also the 2009 Yankees and the 2007 Red Sox. So that's 5 times out of the last 12 World Series that the best record in the majors won the title. Before 2007 you'd have to go back to the 1998 Yankees for the next one. So like usual, Smoltz has no idea what he's talking about. Red Sox tied with Cards for most wins in 2013. 09 Yanks were the last to win it all and be the sole leader in wins iirc.

Other teams have won with best record but the Cubs I think were tied for most wins for a WS champ since those 90s Yanks.

  4. The problem is that the Ricketts family won't be paying it, all of us Cub fans will be paying it through $200 seats, $15 beers, $10 hot dogs, and an extra $30 a month to add their network to your cable package. Everybody knows that a billionaire didn't get rich by eating the cost of an expensive asset, they just pass it along to the consumers. Ill buy wagyu hotdogs to see the Super Cubs of 2016 through multiple seasons. Granted im a freak and would give a year or two in prison to for floor seats to the 90s Jordan Bulls too.
  5. Lol you think Theo implemented a strategy of not hitting dongs?
  6. KB was a huge part. The other aspect was Willy who im 98% sure was playing through multiple injuries. His bat speed was zapped.. someone posted a stat in early august that he had caught 100 more innings than the 2nd most played catcher in baseball. Everyone else was mostly the same or better. Except Russell who sucked in 2017 as well and I consider gone.
  7. Any details on the Heyward shoulder injury? He has degenerative back stuff, and strained his shoulder or something in, what, like his 2nd or 3rd season? And then Chipper was a dick (shocker) and called him out for not playing through the pain. Ive been meaning to ask questions on a braves forum. Was his swing always so fucked up?
  8. I agree at times agonizing to watch this team. But with injuries and a brutal schedule they still had the 3rd most runs in the NL & 95 wins. Im over the 2018 Cubs, last night felt like a bandaid being ripped off. Just get it over with. But the other side of the spectrum is that we were likely a healthy Bryant and healthy bullpen away from steamrolling the NL to the World Series again. Disappointing because I feel we were way more stacked than last year even with the Darvish injury.
  9. Heyward hurt his wrist in between the 2015 and 2016 seasons? He also funked his shoulder up in Atlanta and his swing has never looked the same. The cardinals season was a flukish BA, a home run off arrieta and defensive efficiency he won’t approach anymore admit he ages. He’s a 2 WAR guy who might get to 3 with BABIP luck since he doesn’t strike out. Any details on the Heyward shoulder injury?
  10. horsefeathers this. But we are signing Harper. Bryant is back next year. & we are gettin another ring in 2019.
  11. How the horsefeathers do you go Heyward over Schwarber there
  12. Who are the potential starters for each team?
  13. One player isnt as impactful as it is in Bball. But I hope Theo gets Harper & this team is pissed.. goes evil empire next level dominance on the Brewers like the Warriors adding Durant after the Cavs upset them in 7 games.
  14. I think Yelich is a stud going forward and Bryant will be as well.
  15. Schwarber did not shorten the lineup..hell his OPS of .826 was just under Rizzos. Russell collapsing, Bryants injury, and Willy falling off a map is what hurt the offense. I highly suspect Willy has been playing with a ton of injuries. Whenever anyone points to Schwarber's numbers, I go looking for numbers that show that he's really actually awful and I can't. They are solid numbers, but from just watching the games it feels like Schwarber is a giant black hole in the lineup. Maybe its because he has done historically bad in high leverage situations, but I can't remember the last time I thought 'oh good Schwarber is up', unless its a big situation where we need him to dong and I know he has the ability to do so although he never does. Hope for progression to the mean next year. Its likely all noise for anyone about leverage. If anything especially Schwarber, the guy has been huge in the playoffs over multiple seasons. Doubt its the situation getting to him. Anyways for next year Schwarber seems like a non worry. Its a big if but Harper cleans up a lot of holes in one swoop. Heywards bat is much more allowable in CF. Can move Happ to 2b to rotate with Zobrist. Javy to SS. Fire Addison into the sun & then its down to just hoping Willys offense was mostly injury related in the 2nd half.
  16. Missing fastballs happens, but Willson's double play was completely predictable and preventable. Javy’s was a tough break. The garbage of this season falls on Willson and Schwarber massively shortening this lineup. And Bryant getting hurt. And Russell being a POS. Schwarber did not shorten the lineup..hell his OPS of .826 was just under Rizzos. Russell collapsing, Bryants injury, and Willy falling off a map is what hurt the offense. I highly suspect Willy has been playing with a ton of injuries.
  17. As crap as Maddon and the injuries have been the lineup inexplicably going to horsefeathers from terrible At Bats to just slow bat speed is what pisses me off. If we were beat because of the injured bullpen its a tough pill to swallow but injuries happen. The offense...our core disappearing is what sucks.
  18. Beat this racist horsefeathers Hader for 3 runs and let Lackey manage for the playoffs.
  19. Add Harper / Drop Maddon Hope for better health next year.
  20. horsefeathers Joe and the stupidass hitters in our lineup.
  21. Everyone else was spitting on that stupid slider 2nd time through and dumbass Willy chases for a ball ahead in count.
  22. 163 tomorrow would still be 40 man rosters correct?
  23. Comical bad luck almost to the level of the chicken and beer red sox... If theo needs one collapse to even out each WS title i guess ill take it.
  24. Lol of course Schwarber fan predicting victories for Brewers in a 50 50 game.
