  1. Lol I feel like im in a scene from moneyball. HendrysWallet one of the oldschool scout calling Billy Beane and Theo idiots when all you have to do is watch Quintana pitch. Theo - "well 5 years of statistics say..." HendrysWallet - "quit it you nerd just watch him pitch"
  2. Im at the point I think Baez is the least likely to be moved out of him, Russell and Happ now. Happ's value might be at its highest and a perfect time to move & I feel Baez has surpassed Russell on both sides of the ball, plus still has the much higher ceiling.
  3. That would jive with Rosenthal's mention of trading a young position player: http://www.bleachernation.com/2017/07/10/cubs-reportedly-considering-trading-a-young-position-player/ I don't think we're going to see Happ any better than he is today, and while that guy(3 win switch hitter with positional flexibility) is plenty valuable, the downside if and when pitchers start exploiting him a bit more makes him a pretty good sell high candidate. It'd be risky considering the offense's inconsistency, but if that gets you the SP you really want without having to move Eloy, then I think you could get away with it now that there aren't 3 regulars with various injuries. Yeah I feel like this might be max value on Happ and could be perfect time to sell.
  4. Make an example out of Lackey Is this Theo sacrificing Lackey to the baseball gods.. if so.. i approve.
  5. [vine][/vine] What was the picture? Hopefully not in a Gorilla suit..
  6. Eloy and Happ id be pissed. Cease... id sigh damn but get over it because of Fuk Pitching Prospects
  7. He had that little stretch after the oppo granny where he was crushing balls to LF-LCF but then he destroyed Harvey and it seems like he went right back to trying to yank everything. What article is this from and is there more quotes from Theo, Jed and Joe anywhere?
  8. If you already have MLB gameday how much extra is it to add the minor leagues?
  9. [tweet][/tweet] I had more fun making fun of it before our young position player core ended up having the same exact 8 separate misfortunes of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant Softball team.
  10. Lol what did he say in the post draft interview..
  11. I never did. But I'm a Theo sycophant. I remember some people saying the league had caught up and Theo was basically a replacement level or a little above executive (not really in a derogatory way, mind you...). http://i1.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/252/262/89e.gif I remember that writer in Peoria that was hoping Russell would fail because Theo trade Shark calling everyone Theophiles. LOL I think he started to admit he was wrong after the World Series.
  12. I actually predict Schwarber gets a lot of backup Catcher starts in 2018.
  13. That was really good. My favorite part was when he was talking about the first few years here, when we sucked. And they were spending game days up in the box following the minor league games, and how they had to "literally wipe the smiles off their faces when they went down into the clubhouse." He also implied he would be here longer than 10 years despite in the past hinting 10 is how long you should stay in one place. He because of the Cubs suffering they deserve a dynasty and that is his next goal. He did mention interest in becoming an owner at some point. Start giving this man shares now.. it would hurt my stomach to see him with another organization. Also a ton of info the first 30 min of the show on his childhood and progression through baseball. More than any article ive ever read about him. And im one who Vhasos would call a "theophile"... but yeah great podcast and this is one of the reasons i love podcasts in general.. the conversation was great.
  14. Was Harper at KBs wedding? Any other opponent players there?
  15. Indeed. This is the MUCH better one of those: http://i.imgur.com/wzUCa01.jpg http://i.imgur.com/bG89ysP.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7m95tFx.jpg http://i.imgur.com/x0M1LiD.jpg Are these sold anywhere?
  16. Im not quite ready for 2017 to start because it means the amazingness of 2016 is officially in the past. But that being said I am totally pumped and not looking at 2017 as (not living up to 2016) like you stated. I am in Jordan Bulls mode and just ready for this team to stomp all over the league for the next decade.
  17. Not really an old post but there was a couple articles that came out a couple years ago that the Cubs were one of the surprisingly few teams interested in drafting Trout in 09. Anybody have a link to these articles?
  18. wow that's good Shannon is absolutely terrible. The only announcer I've ever heard who is worse is Harrelson. And man, that's some beard on Rossy... Wow. Him laughing at the Red Sox holding the runner on as Wong literally get picked off was so wonderful.
  19. You mean a month like October where he played like a cheat code for three weeks? Javy absolutely helped us get to and win a WS, I will never argue against that. There's still red flags all over him that he shouldn't be more than a platoon player/defensive sub. Also vs RHP in the playoffs.... .265/.280/.469 (.749) with 17 Ks and 1 BB in 49 ABs. Even if he never ever improves against RH's (which I feel isnt likely) he is still basically Andrelton Simmons bat and close to his value in the field (potentially more with his role in moving all over the damn field smoothly).
  20. What improved besides cutting some swing and miss? That came with less power and fewer walks. Wasn't his power still pretty damn good for a MIF considering how many AB's he got? Im pretty pumped with the improvements Javy has made and he has freakish natural talent so I think there definitely is untapped ceiling for him. His results are better and his AB's are just looking a lot better, he put in great At Bats against very good pitchers with nasty stuff this post season as well. Cueto, Bumgarner, Kershaw, Kluber, and Andrew Miller. I have zero interest in trading a guy with his glove, his age, his contract, his current bat, his base running skills and then taking into account his potential bat.
  21. Franchise value isn't directly correlated to actual current revenues. Sure but I doubt they are hurting on revenues & dont even have an insane payroll either.
  22. Has anybody actually reported its likely Soler. If Davis is a FA next year and has injury concerns it better be like Candelario & Caratini. Maybe Sczur.
  23. In Theo we trust but I dont know why we dont just pay Chapman or Jansen. They are a huge difference maker when playoff time comes around & we dont have to trade assets for either. The org has to be practically printing money, even Bloomberg has an article out of the Franchise being worth 4B soon.
