  1. Yeah, I think everything they're doing is setting up for Harper and Machado. It's cool because the Cubs will get Otani and probably one of Trout/Kershaw. horsefeathers pitchers but ill take Trout.
  2. Gallo only has had blindness since birth... or at least HS baseball.
  3. I feel like this post works even better here than in the Rizzo thread. I was looking at different Cubs rosters & stats the other day. The 2013 team really blew my mind, it was just weird seeing all these 2016 WS Champs listed above on the same Cubs rosters as Carlos freaking Marmol, Kevin Gregg, Michael Bowden, Matt Garza, Julio Borbon, Brent Lillibridge, Logan Watkins...... Literally guys I do not remember. Alberto Gonzalez, Thomas Neal, JC Boscan, Darnell Mcdonald, Kameron Loe, Chang Yong Lim, Matt Guirrer, Darrel Walker, Ed Nealy, Henry Rodriguez (& no not the LF from the 98 Cubs), Cody Ransom, Zach Putnam, and a few more I vaguely remember... like Rafael Dolis, oh yeah he was a guy.. By the way 2016 leader in WAR was Travis Wood at 5.1, leading position player Wellington Castillo.

  5. If that's true, I get this weird gut feeling we're about to see Billy Beane trade for Sale and then flip him to the Cubs. That would be amazing.
  6. Sure the Rays need to ask but Theo isnt trading Schwarber for a pitcher turning 29 and struggled a ton last year.
  7. Rays fans think they are getting Schwarber.
  8. [schwarber] hold my beer. With confidence I can say he will be the only player ever to be on the champion AFL and MLB roster of the same season. I wonder if Bender Theo thought of sending him back for the AFL Championship for shits and giggles.
  9. Id rather bring Chapman back then Fowler. & I love Dex. I want Aroldis pitching in postseason for us. Having a guy that could do what he did in game 5 is very very rare.
  10. Adding young talent is rarely a bad thing. People used to be confused why we traded Shark for another..... SS.
  11. Could any team really match the Cubs firepower to land Trout in those deals? Also have Happ available to season deals. The first deal I might be sour on. I guess we would have to start TLS at 2B and Zobrist in LF.
  12. Do any or all of these deals land Trout? Do the Cubs say no to any of these deals. Trout for Baez, Schwarber, Almora and Soler? Trout for Schwarber, Eloy, Almora and Soler? Trout for Baez, Eloy, Cease, Almora and Soler?
  13. Id say switch that. Jason Heyward NL MVP and KB WS MVP probably means we win 110+ and are back to back champs next year.
  14. [vine][/vine] Its a linear progression. World Series MVP is next year.
  15. Ties for top 5 alltime for total wins by a WS Champion. The Mariners and 06 Cubs lost. Cool seeing the Cubs and 27 Yankees at the same total (obviously the Cubs had a 162 game schedule & 7 more playoff wins) but if anybody asks they were equals ;) Now that we have the ring I want to see some run differential stuff up again. We had to be one of the top RD teams that won the title over the last 50 years correct? Also how did our RD turnout compared to rest of baseball the last 25 years & turnout against the teams listed here in total wins?
  16. Theo & Jed were very vocal one of the reasons we wanted Aroldis was we didnt want to face him on the Giants, Nats or Dodgers in the playoffs. I doubt they still want to do that in 2017, especially after moving Gleyber for him. Im feel they want at least one of Jansen/Chapman in pinstripes.
  17. Well have you looked into the case details? Yes. It was discussed ad nauseum here when the trade happened. The man is garbage. We used him for what we needed, now he can go somewhere away from my team. Well okay then. I disagree and dont think he actually hit her after looking into it. But,again I see why some wouldnt want him back.
  18. I feel so much better now. Well have you looked into the case details?
  19. Agreed. And baseball-wise, Jensen seemed much more comfortable going multiple innings during the playoffs compared to Chapman. After reading up on the case I personally dont think Chapman ever hit her. Ive heard he was actually great in the Cubs clubhouse too. I can see why people dont want him back, but i'd like him back.
  20. Lol the youngest of those guys was Liriano signed 16 YEARS AGO!! What's the acceptable window? How often do teams produce TOR starters and how does this affect a guy like Berrios with his merits? I doubt it has much to do with Berrios at all. Pretty sure their front office has flipped three times since Liriano. Liriano was a top prospect for the Giants anyways. Berrios might be a good pitcher but it wont have much to do with Santana, Radke and Liriano IMO.

  22. That slash line with the K/BB rates are horsefeathering terrible regardless of defense and base running I dont know what the slash lines of 2B and SS were this year but with Javys defense I still think he would be an average starter by putting up those stats in the MIF with that D. Its not like hes an elite LF.. he does it in 3 very demanding positions. Im willing to be proven wrong but my off the hip guess is there is a lot of weak hitting MIFs right now, coupled with my opinion that Javy is by far and away the best glove at 2b right now, and elite at 3b. 10 starting SS had lower OPS with 300 ABs this year vs both hands of pitching, he would be in the low end of 2B but still better than or in the same OPS range of guys like Dee Gordon, Josh Harrison and Chase Utley. & this is in a world where he only hits against righties and doesng improve. With his glove he is still a value even that range, essentially the Andrelton Simmons of 2B (speaking of Andrelton his OPS is pretty much exactly what Javy in RHP only world is). My bet is he will improve as well because he has been pretty damn good at consistent improvement coupled with his elite skills.
  23. Is that slash line against righties that terrible considering his elite D and baserunning? I feel like even if he doesnt improve against RHPs he still deserves a spot in that lineup and my guess is hes going to improve a bit. 24. He hit .258/.288/.401 with 4 BB and 83 K against RHP in a season where he was protected against elite RHP, he either needs to get better against them or not be considered an everyday starter against RHP. My thinking is that if he's going to be in the starting lineup in the playoffs against RHP then he needs all the ABs he can get, and that includes against the good ones. If the Cubs are scrapping tooth and nail for the division maybe that changes things, but I'd think if they've got a solid lead Schwarber should get a lot of PAs against lefties, Baez against righties. 25. J-Hey in there too celebrating.
